Marc Mero vs. Steve Blackman

[1.0] "It's been beaten to death why the Brawl for All was such an awful idea. I hadn't realized until watching this match that it was so bad from the get go - the fans chanting "we want wrestling" were on the money. Just terrible."

[2.0] "Blackman basically gamed the system here. He knew Mero had hands, so he just spammed takedowns for easy points and never let Marc get into a rhythm. Smart strategy, but awful to watch, especially with a crowd in 1998 that wanted slugfests and had zero patience for MMA-style tactics. Mero landed a couple clean shots but never had a chance to showcase his supposed boxing pedigree. The boos told the story: technically sound from Blackman, but as entertainment it was a dud. Interesting on paper, dull in execution."

[0.0] "Nah boy. Nah. I never ever in my life stopped to watch a match before it ends, I don't care what will happen here, I don't wanna see. Both guys are BOXING in a FUCKING wrestling ring. If I want to watch boxing I will go check some boxe, but this was such a bad idea executed at the poorly way possible. Highest contender for the worst match of all time."

[0.0] "Absolutely terrible match between both men, boxing or MMA and wrestling don't mix at all, the crowd turned on the whole thing hard and this match gave birth to one of the worst wrestling stipulations ever."

[4.0] "This was a shoot, and I thought it was interesting if nothing else. There's a rule where every takedown scores 5 points, at which the referee stands both men up. Blackman exploited this by spamming takedowns and scoring a tonne of points to which Mero had no answer for. It made for a repetitive fight, but I can't blame Blackman for being smart. They have a couple decent punching exchanges but as I said, this is mostly Blackman spamming double legs and the crowd HATES it, even chanting "we want wrestling" at one point. This Brawl 4 All thing was a failed experiment by the WWE, proved here by the crowd's outright rejection to everything going on. Me personally, I didn't hate it. (2*)"

[0.0] "A fundamentally flawed tournament, insulting to professional wrestling, its athletes, and its fans. Unfortunately, this is only the beginning of the problems."

[2.0] "As an amateur wrestler I could follow this fight. Dominant performance by Blackman as Mero had a striking background but got out grappled on the mat. Hard to rate because this was a shoot. Blackman also has to pull out of the Brawl for All after this match due to injury tells you how much of a bad idea the tournament was."

[0.0] "I don't know what was more shocking. The fact that Vince Russo thought this was a good idea to book this nonsense to begin with or the fact that they saw this disaster and thought it was a good idea not to scrap the tournament then and there! It's not good to watch at all. Blackman dominated the whole match so there was no drama to it at all and the fans just hate it, which was quite funny tbh."
