Chase Owens vs. Davey Richards

[8.0] "I thought this was a great match. Davey Richards was easily one of the best wrestlers in the world, as the guy was just having incredible matches one right after the other. This was a unique match as Davey was defending the ROH Championship in the NWA, even though Cagematch says otherwise for some reason. Chase Owens was the NWA Mountain Empire Champion and here he was getting a big spot at 21 years old, so the question was could he keep up with Davey for 28 minutes. The answer is yes, although I do wish the match was a little shorter, he was able not only to hang in there with Davey but also be competitive with him. There was some good selling on Owens' part of one of his arms, something that Davey would work on periodically. This was fun. ****"

[7.0] "Owens really stepped up to Richards' level in this match. Richards gave him enough chances to leave an impression, and Owens really impressed. ***œ"

[7.0] "Davey was into a period when he seemingly could do no wrong (especially during his ROH Title reign) and as an old-school travelling champ he was, he invaded NWA Smoky Mountain along with his buddy Kyle. Richards faces then academy's ace Chase Owens, whom takes the control early by surprise, shining in the process, but after that, the American Wolf begins to tear his leg down and work on it with his grappling credentials. Chase solidly sells and come back to the final cutoff; classic but really enjoyable. ***1/4 - ***1/2"
