[8.0] "One thing that bothers about present-day pro-wrestling discourse, is that even when someone's name (in this context Vaquer) is relatively well-known, sometimes it makes crowd less enthusiastic when it comes to near-falls closer to the finish of the match. It's a shame that it happened here, because I thought this was a very good opening match to send the message to the crowd that wrestlers showed up to work hard and put on a show. Vaquer showed that she can have a good match against lesser known and experienced opponent, and Kanji had one of her better performances that I've ever seen from her, she wrestled like she had everything to gain, like it was a title match for her. ***1/2+"
[6.0] "A nice opening technical contest to get us roaring. I was surprised considering I was expecting a crowd pleasing Lucha match to start the night off but this was a nice change of pace. Mix in nice sequences with back and forth offense and hard-hitting moves. This one even though unexpected was good. 6.5/10"
[5.0] "A solid match, surprised it was the opening contest if I'm honest. There was inevitably some awkward moments where the chemistry was off a little, but some nice technical exchanges. Kanji falls short for me with her crowd work, which takes the form of a growl or scream, rather than using words."
[7.0] "Very good opening contest. Vaquer was much more in her element on Show 1 than Show 2 with her hard hitting offence landing perfectly on Kanji, who was a great opponent, she very slick and always in the right place, playing a good likeable underdog to Vaquer's killer champion heel persona."
[6.0] "This was a surprising opener. I expected a faster paced, high flying match our first to warm up the crowd. As such it took a little while to get heat but it was an enjoyable technical display. Vaquer stands out in Western women's wrestling ad a prospect for big things **3/4"
