[6.0] "A pretty solid spotfest from these two Euro-indy darlings, lots of explosive offence and big moves, without much of a story to tie it all together in my eyes. Sometimes you do not need much of that however and I did have a lot of fun with this match, although I could have seen another 5 minutes with a touch more selling. Blanc got the win with a rollup in a slightly deflating finish, but it worked with the narrative of Vecchio not being the smartest worker. A very fun and physically impressive match which landed short of the mark slightly for me."
[8.0] "Good match, really short but they tried their best to fill these 13 minutes with good contents. Both did really good stuff throughout the encounter but D Vecchio tended to be the Goliath putting Aigle Blanc ina a David situation which really suits it. Good sprint. ****1/4"

He reminds me of the first time I saw Paul Burchill in the FWA or Uhaa Nation. Im definitely expecting him to get a WWE deal at some point and then fizzle out based on that track record, haha. Hes been a great story too in wXw of kind of coming out of nowhere, being impressive and getting over naturally. I feel like him not winning this tournament was a huge miss but Im a parachute wXw fan so what do I know. Aigle Blanc is really good but Ive seen a lot of his matches run too long where theres not enough juice to keep me into it. This felt perfect for him. Both guys go hard, have great chemistry, if you watch this spoiler-free, like I did, it truly feels like anyone can win. Its really good stuff. The finish could feel underwhelming to some, especially as they do some big near falls before it, but I feel like this is where a roll up works. Both guys were worthy of the win, had never say die attitudes, and it was ultimately someone getting caught out of nowhere that cost them the match. Id love to see this run back sometime and both of these guys should be in the wXw Title picture."

The exchanges between them were sensational, the greatest possible talents for this match. The ending wasn't the best possible but the match was sensational, Aigle Blanc and Mike D'Vecchio were the highlights of Carat Gold for me."
