[6.0] "This was a fun match. I liked the use of the weapons and the suplexes, although I didnt like the no selling. Hook choked out Wheeler with a hockey stick to win."
[6.0] "It was a fun way to wrap up the pre-show and the fitting end was delivered where the hometown hero defeated the pricky counterpart. Both men have a great arsenal of technical artistry and had more than one shot to show it out, but the stipulation blended in well enough to incorporate fun spots with the weapons. 3 out of 5 stars!"
[10.0] "Although much more could have been expected under the "FTW" rules, both wrestlers neatly wrapped up a story that was well told in the ring. The finish that included a hockey stick - genius"
[6.0] "There is history between these two. They are both good wrestlers, and the match even had hardcore, albeit light, but... I dont know... It seemed to lack significance and timing. It's a shame he never made it to the main show, because he was better than some of the matches that took place there. ***1/4"
"A match that was somewhat held back by the stipulation. Given there was another no-dq match due to happen later in the night these 2 couldn't go too crazy with weapons. A PURE rules match would have made far more sense and given HOOK an opportunity to show his progression as YUTA is a perfect opponent for him alongside the PURE ruleset. Hopefully both guys get to continue this feud as they have shown good chemistry in-ring when given the chance. You would think given HOOK has submitted the PURE rules champion then a title shot has to be on the horizon for him and gives them an opportunity to give the FTW title a graceful exit. If they just move on then this was not a good way to end their programme."
[3.0] "This one was kinda dreadful to watch. The story build between Hook and Yuta makes you think the match will be Pure rules, but then this match isn't - it's an "FTW Rules" match. Given that lineage, one would think this would be a bit more ... extreme of a match. The match felt like it didn't know if it wanted to showcase the grappling skills of the two young stars, or if it wanted to focus on the hardcore plunder spots. In the end, both sides suffered, and we're left with likely the worst match of the night."
[4.0] "Not bad, but not very engaging and the crowd were not into it. Yuta's promo before the match was weak and actually took away from the intensity for me. Hook needs to add some variety in his moveset, the finish came out of nowhere."
[4.0] "This has potential, as both HOOK and Yuta have been stuck in a stasis of waiting to realize their potential but this wasn't very interesting. Too bad about the hockey stick."
[5.0] "The match was alright for where it was on the card but it was nothing all too special. This was a match that you knew that Hook was going to win from the start. Like i said, decent match for where it was. **3/4"
[4.0] "Honestly I couldn't wait for this match to end. They used few weapons and the most of the match was heatless brawling without any drama or Climax. This bout could have been a nice 10 minutes of Hardcore Wrestling but unfortunately this was 10 minutes of absolute boredom. *3/4"
[6.0] "This was well worked but it had no heat. It's very difficult to care when they never do anything with either Hook or Wheeler. I assume I'd be more invested if I watched ROH."
[7.0] "Good showcase for both these young wrestlers! Hook is really beginning to come into his own, and I'm looking forward to the inevitable ROH Pure Title match."
[6.0] "A fun brawl with a few weapons, and Hook keeps adding more wrestling moves to his martial arts-inspired style. The mix of brawling and wrestling is also perfect for Yuta, and he did a great job of keeping Hook looking strong here."
[7.0] "A solid match that didn't actually have a lot going on at first. Very little in the way of weapons for half the match in a match evoking ECW, getting them all in near the end. Solid lariats in the middle segment though. The suplex on the ramp was the best bump of the match, better than even the one into the trash can, but the finish was admittedly really fucking cool with HOOK sweeping the leg with the hockey stick enough to snap it and then using the broken-off handle to choke YUTA out. It was enough to bump my rating up. ***1/4"
