[8.0] "A truly excellent tag match here, just a hair below the match they would go on to have the following week. It really is remarkable what four talented workers can do with good chemistry and enough time, everyone just left almost everything out in the ring with particularly good selling coming from Juice Robinson and Jay White. BCG just about scored the win and this was really good fun, just excellent fundamentals from all four."

[10.0] "Sometimes, things just click. The initial Collision run aspired for a distinct atmosphere and tone that by pure chance, this Regina crowd proves absolutely desperate to embrace. The result is fascinating, with the first half and change of this feeling like a borderline time capsule. As usual with this combination of talent, they emphasise the fundamentals, but every tune they play is received like an iconic hit. That allows their natural chemistry to shine through even brighter, even if they get a tad ambitious with some of the closing intricacies. Prior to that latter sequencing though, this is perfection, closer to its sequel than the memory suggests. ****3/4"

[9.0] "What could have been a standard Eliminator match turned out to be an excellent tag-team fight. It was all about the IQ, the art of the detail, but also a love letter to the old school. White and Robinson always had a trick up their sleeves, while Wheeler and Hardwood fought them back with pride and courage. Liked the fact that this bout can be an outbreak moment for Robinson. For sure, FTR targeted him a lot throughout their encounter, but Robinson showed he wasn't White's lackey, even though the latter saved him many times. As Robinson did as well. Juice's selling was great, moreover. White displayed, as always, how he is one of the greatest wrestling minds in the business. FTR faced calculating lads, and even though they have a lot of qualities, there were times when they were fooled like idiots. Here to say, by the say, that Hardwood and Wheeler are the guys that are making me like outside sequences a lot. They had a meaning. Hardwood's hot tag sequences were also a great standout of the contest, while Wheeler being the partner in jeopardy was a good touch as well. A gritty and intense fight filled with a lot of emotions and psychology. I had memories of The Fantastics vs. The Midnight Express of 1988 at some moments. It's really to say that this tag-team fight was that superb. The finish ruled, moreover. The drama at its peak, and all four lads understood it. That's the freaking magic of pro-wrestling."

I was happy to see BC Gold get the victory through some clever methods and good work at cutting off the ring for FTR as FTR was clearly dominating them in the earlier stages of this match. Juice Robinson selling throughout especially the height he got from that back suplex on the apron was crazy to see!"

It seemed that it looked better on paper than when implemented. And this is especially true of the ending (***)."

I originally was going to give this an 8/10, but I think the crowd didn't really help this match. They were into things at different points, but it wasn't that loud throughout. Maybe that was just something that I felt and nobody else did, but it hurt my initial opinion of this match a little. Hopefully the crowd is into their next match more than this one."

arrancar wrote on 18.07.2023:
[6.0] "One of those matches where the wrestlers only really focus on doing all the most basic stuff in the most correct but unadventurous ways possible. I appreciated how all 4 guys here went for the 'aggressive brawler' route to try make the match feel like a big fight, but the result was that the match was incredibly dry. The two even more significant issues I had with the match were: (1) the length, and (2) Dax. A match going nearly 30 minutes on TELEVISION, for not even a title match or a match with genuinely major stakes, was pretty aggravating, especially because the match never developed in any interesting ways to make that length more enjoyable. And then there's Dax Harwood, who is one of the most annoyingly self-indulgent wrestlers in the world. I still hate that he slobs on Bret Hart so frequently that he chooses to *bump* the same way as him when being thrown into a turnbuckle. How do you even justify that in kayfabe? "Oh I like Bret Hart so much that I, uh, get beaten up the same way he does". It's absurd and makes his matches instantly non-serious. Even more annoying were his facial expressions, since the guy is OBSESSED with trying to look really 'gritty' and 'tough' when staring his opponents down or when reacting to basically anything. Every time I see him pull an over-the-top face I'm just reminded that, for him, his main priority is essentially always to ensure that people view him as the equivalent of a rough 80s territory wrestler, and it always rings completely hollow. That's why I'm a much bigger fan of Cash, since he doesn't get dorky with his facial expressions and instead comes off as a genuine athlete who happens to also like a good fight, plus his movements and attacks are more energetic and explosive, which also helps. So, having Dax be the one to get the big hot tag and initiate FTR's big comeback (after they were dominated for so long to the point of near boredom) didn't work for me because it just subjected me to more of Dax's self-indulgent displays. I obviously won't go as far as to say that the length of the match, my strong dislike of Dax, or even the match's relative lack of creativity/adventurousness were enough to make the match bad, since I did ultimately think it was still an alright showing, but it's certainly nothing worth dedicating nearly 30 minutes to to watch. ***"

[9.0] "This was a great, competitive, and well structured match. I really enjoyed Bullet Club Gold's work as heels and thought that their personalities complemented each other well. I thought they did well building to Dax's hot tag and he delivered once he finally came in. My only gripe here is the finish - it looked a bit mistimed to me, and I think the actual move that Juice won with was pretty underwhelming."
Stormthedesert wrote on 16.07.2023:

CoolKyle wrote on 16.07.2023:
[7.0] "The crowd was heavily in favor of FTR, as expected. Harwood and Switchblade started for their teams with some trash talk and a standard lockup. They had a great exchange of takedowns and counters that earned a round of applause from the live crowd. This was a great back-and-forth match that showcased both teams well. FTR looked like fighting champions and Bullet Club Gold looked like opportunistic heels. They were given three segments for this match, so they had plenty of time to tell a story. Outstanding piece of work and certainly one of the best tag matches of the year. My only nitpick would be the lack of connective tissue in the middle of the match. While I didn't feel like it dragged anywhere and had a very realistic vibe to it due to nothing being coordinated, a few proper sequences would've only made this better."
BradJohnson34 wrote on 14.07.2023:
[6.0] "Lots of exciting exchanges here but the connective tissue was a little sloppy and long-winded. Also, it's quite disgusting how much Jay White relies on spit in his matches, whether he's spitting on his opponent or doing the thing where he heavy mouth-breathes until his spit gets caught in his own beard. Even more of that than usual here. Not a fan of Juice's finisher and it wasn't teased at any point earlier in the match so the finish felt a little anti-climatic."

GoldLiger wrote on 13.07.2023:
[8.0] "I honestly considered Bullet Club Gold to be a filler/goober faction even after Collision came around but this match is good evidence that they've got potential. That could just be FTR though. A very momentum-swinging yet grounded tag match with a lot of fantastic little details and ways that keep the formula fresh; I love that instead of Juice pulling Dax away from the tag Dax blocks and beats him down across the apron but isn't there for Cash to tag and gets knocked down by Jay instead. The builds to the nearfalls in the mid-late portion of the match were really excellent, but I do think the match does go 5-10 minutes too long overall especially since this wasn't the blowoff with the titles defended but an Eliminator. This is legit probably the best I've seen Jay White look in a match, I never bought him as a NJPW main eventer but in this role he's starting to shine for me, and Juice is finally really starting to gel with his heel persona all around. I'm sure FTR have ideas for the 2/3 Falls but otherwise I'd worry this burned through all the chemistry these teams have without just repeating the match, but on its own it was an all-around clean and exciting tag team bout. ****"
KesagakeOK wrote on 12.07.2023:
[10.0] "A near-perfect example of what tag wrestling, and wrestling, should be. FTR yet again prove they have the chemistry, psychology, and technical prowess to be considered the best tag team on the blanket, and Bullet Club Gold made good use of their most prominent showcase in AEW to date. I truly feel that if someone didn't enjoy this match or found significant fault with it, they don't actually enjoy pro wrestling as it is meant to be."

I thought it combined everyones strengths and got a great match out of them. 28 minutes is a bit too much but it produced results, so I cant complain. ***3/4"
MaveDeltzer wrote on 12.07.2023:
[6.0] "In some ways a good match. On the other hand, I look at the runtime (which I felt during the match itself), and wonder what the story of the match actually was. No one was trying to hit a specific move (definitely not the move which ended it), no one was working a limb or doing anything which might make you think that the match is going towards a finish somewhere. No one had any kind of injury which might play into a finish. Lots of action and several good sequences, but this match was missing something, especially when you consider who is in the ring. High '6' or a low '7' for me. It's a match I wish had a more discernable story outside of two teams just wrestling each other and one team occasionally distracting the ref. I think I'd be more forgiving if this was 10 minutes shorter and was all about the action, but a longer match needs something more. I hope that's something they'll work into the next match because going two-out-of-three like this would be exhausting."

Ending was a little flat, and maybe a minute or 2 too long, but didn't take away from the match. Looking forward to 2/3 Falls."

[8.0] "It started off with some babyface shine from FTR, until Juice sent Cash to the outside. Jay White then suplexes Cash onto the ring apron to start their targeting of Cash's ribs during their heat segment. Juice, and Jay White heat segment was great and one little thing that I really liked during it was Cash fighting them off for like a second or two before getting cut off, or whenever Dax was in position for a hot tag he'd get taken off the apron. This built up to Dax's hot tag, and Dax's hot tag was great. The near falls were a bit much at the end, the finish also leaves you wanting to see a rematch so I thought it was perfect in that regard.****1/4"

Match was a mixed bag, though. The early ebb & flow was uninteresting, but then FTR in peril lit a fire & the initial near falls were red hot. Eventually though they strayed into overkill & the finish fell flat ****"

Juice had a couple of moments that looked a little sloppy, but that's just me nitpicking. If it hadn't been for that, it would have gotten the full 10."
Perry Saturn wrote on 10.07.2023:

My only complain is that it peaked a little before the end and should have finished, but they had to fill an extra five minutes and it became too many near falls. Still I'm going to give this a 10 because it deserves a high rating."

[9.0] "Definitely wasn't expecting this to be this good or this long. FTR and BCG just casually had a near 30 minute tag match on TV and it was fucking excellent. Definitely not without it's problems though, as there were a number of noticeable botches and the finish was a bit of a mess, but this match is still really fucking good regardless, with a very intense second half, filled with some of the closest nearfalls I've ever seen. By far the best showing that Jay and Juice have had so far in AEW; I'm glad that they're finally getting a chance to prove what they're capable of on Collision. And as for FTR, this is just another great match to add to their incredible catalogue. An unexpectedly brilliant match, and I'm very excited for their 2/3 falls match next week. ****1/2"

Still, this was a GREAT tag match with all 4 guys just tearing it up, Jay and Juice worked so well when they were in control and beating up Cash, and cutting off the tag to Dax whenever they could. Cant wait to see the rematch next week for the tag titles. Hopefully its even better! ****1/4"

[9.0] "By far the best tag showing for Jay & Juice since joining AEW. I was on the fence about seeing Jay being used as a tag wrestler while he waits for a singles title feud to become available but I believe with showings like these it will introduce him to a portion of the AEW audience who may have not known he was all while making him look stronger. Having him kick out of a couple double team finishesque moves by FTR shows how difficult it will be to put him away during a singles bout imo. BCG continue to improve on there in ring offense as a team and I love to see it. This match is also a proving point for FTW not being used or shown as much as they should be as tag champions. They can tear it down with just about everyone they step into the ring with whether they have a great build behind it like with the Briscoes or a slow barley started build like with BCG. This match left me wanting a no commercial PPV match with proper time given just like this one. I thought the finish was perfect for BCG earning there way into a tag title match but once again a headscratcher of sorts having FTR take the pin now rather then just having there first match against one another be for the titles, almost guarantees BCG will lose the actual title bout. Far above average tag team match for TV."

Babyfaces/hells dynamic, action consisting for the 70% of strikes and for the other 30% by spots and a lot of kickouts; everything in this match Is done to make a classic. The only problem - that Is very popular in wrestling nowadays- Is the not satisfying ending: after almost 30 minutes of pure excitemen Robinson pinned Harwood after his front facelock drop: wasn't possible anything more epic? ****3/4"

The second third had some really solid controlling and smart heel work by Bullet Club Gold, and the last third had some of the best near falls you'll ever see. The finish, while not squeaky clean, is obviously intended to lead to some controversy about the result, which makes sense with next week leading to a 2/3 falls match. Super stoked for that! *5*"
