01.08.2022 | The Beholder | 8.0 | This is a good match, but it's sad to see Jumbo's illness starting to take him. He looks noticeably different than his tag match at the June Budokan show. This is a good tag effort from everyone involved, but it is definitely not a classic. ****

Impressive that he was able to not let it affect his work ethic because he was fire here. He was the short run in and destroy guy. Taue is the workhorse though. He takes a licking off the MVC who pummel him with stiff shots and amateur based mat work. Fun match. ***3/4 |

16.10.2019 | RatingsMachine | 6.0 | This match was good and had plenty of great action. Tsuruta was a lot lighter than usual having lost a lot of weight due to what we would later find out was Hepatitis B. Tsuruta's ability was starting to slide as well and whilst he was still capable, it was very clear in this match that he wasn't as good as he used to be.
19.09.2019 | arrancar | 6.0 | Another 90s AJPW tag that has some good work but is simply too long. The gaijins ganged up on Taue to start, and it was cute how even though Taue is massive, and usually plays the monster against the native Japanese talent, here he was dominated by his generally larger opponents, thus requiring the legendary Jumbo's assistance to progress in the match. It was fun watching Taue struggle and eventually manage to hold his own, but it was only once Jumbo got involved where the gaijins were really on the back foot. Taue once again managed to be on the end of Williams and Gordy's beatdown, and I have to say the gaijins were doing pretty well laying in their strikes and giving a nice brawling display on poor Taue, who looked quite good with his sympathetic selling and fiery comebacks. It was again quite sweet seeing Jumbo help Taue, and he would eventually hit a nice hot tag to singlehandedly take out both Williams and Gordy. Eventually the gaijins' heel tactics got the better of Jumbo, and it was Taue who got to run in and dominate. The working over on Jumbo's leg was referenced frequently, but not consistently, as it was more like Jumbo would gesture to the injured limb once every few minutes or only when one of the gaijins would directly work it over. I didn't think this took away from the match, but it definitely felt like a missed opportunity to make a bigger deal out of Jumbo having a major impairment. It got a lot of focus in the final 5 minutes, which was good at least. Jumbo would unload some great strikes before Gordy sadly put him away. This thankfully played off of the story of the match, since Williams and Gordy had ganged up to put Jumbo away after having already isolated Taue on the outside. Good match with a good story and nice performances all around, but definitely too long. ***1/4
01.03.2017 | jboyaquar | 8.0 | I saw this story similar to ‘Custer’s Last Stand. ’ A fading general trying once more to reach the pinnacle of these, the tag-team ranks, but not having the stamina nor the force to sustain it against larger, younger men throughout an almost twenty-five running time. AT played the workhorse, and spent 70% or more tagged-in, much of receiving left knee abuse from his American opponents. In total, the ‘heels’ were up for the far majority of the contest; even when JT was in he would hit some flying knees, a cl here-or-there, but then ‘The Miracle Violence Connection’ would snap-right back w/ matters at hand, wearing JT’s rt. knee out. This is a very good tag match, but clearly not four-plus stars. Even during the final moments SW, entering to help TG out, made a headslapper by kicking JT’s wrong knee. By then, though, the older man was bent-over, cowering and TG put him out-of-misery w/ a powerbomb for the three and the decisive win. 7. 75
