[3.0] "This was... not a great debut. The Goldust character obviously had long staying power after this, so it didn't hurt him. And the entrance presentation was excellent. But this match just went on way too long for what should have been a fairly quick win for a debut and there were multiple moments where they weren't on the same page at all. Jannetty is already on his 3rd stint with the company here and JR openly comments about his substance abuse issues so I'm not sure why they had to drag this out as long as they did. Between this and the match afterwards, they couldn't find time for a televised Bret match in Canada? Baffling."

[4.0] "So much wasn't clicking in this match. Goldust didn't have anything about his character down yet. His mannerisms weren't established yet and none of his classic or signature moves were being used yet. Even how he painted his ears and how his entrance music played would change soon after this. It's almost like this was the beta version of Goldust during this match. Jannetty might have been the right opponent for him either. Jannetty was coming back, so I assume they didn't want this to be a squash incase Jannetty had anything left in the tank in terms of fan support. Jannetty certainly didn't sandbag Goldust or anything, but it certainly didn't seem like he was giving it his all either. He seemed to be doing the bare minimum he needed to do to have a passable performance, so Goldust wasn't looking especially strong. The match isn't bad, but it's very bland and goes on too long. Goldust clearly needed more time in the oven, but I'm guessing they wanted him to iron the kinks out before a bigger PPV like Survivor Series. Not an awful debut, but certainly not memorable."

Marty Jannetty's career never recovered after that cowardly act where he dived through the Barber Shop window to escape Shawn Michaels. Ok match, but nothing special."

Goldust is not as expressive in the ring as he would become later, but he still works the crowd and I loved how he yelled at the referee. Jannetty bumps nicely for Dustin and makes him look dangerous, so everyone does their job."

GD tries jump starting but Jannetty knocks him around then sends him out of the ring. Jannetty telegraphs by Western Union then GD takes over. Jannetty pulls GD out of the ring then drives him into the steps, in turn GD throws Marty into the post outside. GD suplexes Marty back in and gets a 2. Jannetty rallies for a moment but GD polishes him off with the face first vertical suplex and pin. Not bad."

[5.0] "This is the in ring debut of Goldust, Dustin Rhodes' most enduring character. He gets his new identity over well, but the actual wrestling isn't great. Jannetty was patchy in the ring by this point, and Rhodes hadn't really figured out the wrestling style for Goldust, leading to a rather slow match that didn't do that much for either guy. It wasn't a particularly long match at just over 10 minutes, but it felt longer, and would probably have been more effective had it been shorter. That said, the Goldust character is compelling and unusual (not always for the right reasons though) and it's certainly memorable."

[2.0] "I love everything about Goldust's presentation, but this wasn't a great debut for him. For every cool moment like Jannetty clotheslining Goldust inside out and Jannetty bouncing himself off the ring post after Goldust sends him crashing into it, we had a greater number of botches and miscommunications to drag the match right down. It didn't help matters that this match went over 11 minutes and they were clearly trying to fill time. What makes this even more baffling is that have this match go on forever and they don't even have Bret Hart on the main card and they are in Canada! This should have been a quick victory for debuting Goldust. Instead, we got a long match with a character that the fans aren't familiar with slowly beating a guy who has been losing to bigger stars for the past two years."
