[6.0] "Bizarre from a booking point of view but bell to bell, this is another decent entry to their series. Rude is the best Warrior opponent, consistently leading him to watchable matches that delivered without an overreliance on pomp and circumstance. Obviously, they are still Warrior matches but the Rude outings are usually somewhat traditional, with this being no different. That almost always went very poorly for all involved but again, Rude lands the plane without incident here. Not their best match, but a pretty good one nonetheless. **3/4"

While I don't get running this so close to SummerSlam it is cool these two went at it on free tv. Rude comes pretty close to winning the big one here."

There was a bizarre moment where the ref checked if Warrior was conscious during a sleeper by doing the usual arm drop spot with his leg instead. Very weird. It was also strange that they didn't call for a DQ off Heenan's blatant interference. Still, I thought this was enjoyable and above Warrior's usual standard."

[5.0] "16/07/90 Saturday Night's Main Event WWF. Rick Rude nearly captures the big one. These matches were always tough for me to watch as a kid, as they were my 2 favourite singles wrestlers. Rick Rude is brilliant as always, he elevates this match with his in ring ability. Rude and Warrior seemed to click, they had plenty of experience with each other from the territories and Rick made Warrior respect him. The match could of been a solid 6, but the end was poor, Warrior not selling after his comeback was cringy. I'm sure it was a Count out Victory for Warrior not a DQ. Could of been better but a good 5*"

Anyway, this was easily one of their worst matches together. Not saying it was bad or anything, just... there's nothing to see here. Decent enough but skippable. **"

Amazed WWF gave away their Summerslam main event for free so close to the PPV though."
