[4.0] "Slow first few minutes before we get some good claw teasing from Von Erich that gets the crowd going.Baba continually chops Fritz to avoid getting locked into the stomach claw for long at any one point and the first half of the match is built around this. Baba takes the first fall after a missed dropkick by Fritz leads to his downfall. Good storytelling seeing Fritz get more aggressive and lose his respectful ways toward Baba as he falls down a fall. The claw by Fritz takes the second fall and busts Baba open to dramatic fashion. We get a double countout as Baba hits Fritz's claw hand off of the ring ring posts for a draw. Average match. Fairly dead for long periods but the story is good and the crowd was into it. **1/4"

The third fall ends in a double countout and the two continue brawling to the back. There's just something missing in this. It seems that Von Erich just isnt feared by the crowd anymore as the multiple claw attempts just dont seem to get the needed response and it leaves the match lacking. **"

More or less entertaining parts are Baba and von Erich trading blows, occasional glimpses of Baba's offense and a short brawl after the match. But most of it is Fritz stalling, teasing/applying Stomach Claw or Iron Claw. But that's just how their matches go, their 1966 bout had advantage of both of them being younger and the crowd being much more into it, but from the wrestling perspective it was also not much better."

Whilst their first match was a fast paced, hard hitting affair, they decided to go the complete opposite route with a much slower match here. As a result it was pretty dull, as a lot of matches of this era are, though technically competent for the most part."

However, there's just too much great stuff here for me not to rate this highly. Fritz continues to make his case for being one of the all-time great gaijin heels. I enjoyed his work thoroughly, and Baba was a great native babyface. ****"
