The WWF clearly didn't care that much, cutting away from the match for a shockingly long time to interview a stammering nervous fan in the crowd for what felt like an eternity. But putting aside the lousy presentation, if you look at the action of the match it's still actually quite good, Vader still hits like a runaway truck and Taker had finally branched out of his slow man zombie style. I didn't mind Bearer's interruption either, impressive he can jump off the apron like that. Far from perfect but underrated match. |

Vader is a monster, but that's not showcased here at all. Yes, he's fast, does rope spots, gets flipped in the air by Taker (all while being an alleged 400 pounds) but the match itself has too little going on and barely any time to develop. Paul Bearer, who is feuding with Taker at this moment, interupts the match and distracts Taker, who can't resist throwing him in the ring. Vader and Taker end up outside of the ring, and Bearer hits the deadman with an urn to the skull from the apron. Vader hits a Vaderbomb and pins Taker for the win as he's accompanied to the back by a gloating, gleeful Bearer. Once that's done, a frustrated Undertaker chokeslams the ref, and says something unintelligable to commentator McMahon. Definitely some missed potential here, with the storyline business coming into play quicker than it probably should have. Vader still looks intimidating and capable as hell, so it's not all bad, but this is far from either of their best effort. |

Seeing Vader cower away from Undertaker in fear during his shine just doesn't didn't sit right with me, even if was decent at being a chickenshit. The WWF really screwed up with Vader by having him be a cowardly heel instead of a kick-ass world-beater. Undertaker is one of the few stars that the dead crowd seems to give a crap about. Undertaker puts some effort in here by pulling out some different stuff, such as countering Vader's back body drop by landing a nice jumping leg drop as Vader bends down. Vader scores a rare pinfall win over Undertaker after Paul Bearer makes an appearance and hits Undertaker with the urn. Undertaker gets some of his heat back by choke-slamming the referee after the bell. This had quite a slow place, but I didn't hate this. |

Taker knocks him around and throws him in the ring. Taker and Vader go over the top rope and continue to battle. Taker props Vader on the railing and tries jumping off the steps onto him but Bearer gets Vader out of the way and he crashes on the railing. Bearer does his impression of the worlds fattest luchadore and jumps off the apron smacking Taker in the head with the urn. Vader hits the Vaderbomb and pins Taker. |
