28.07.2025 | OwenEdwards | 7.0 | This is a curious match because it's effortlessly competent, not uninteresting, but ultimately very throwaway and indifferent. It's good, but it's not as engaging as some (in general terms) inferior matches. They work the mat a bit but not much, which is a shame. Terry often reverts to Brawl-O-Matic, and there is just a little (fairly enjoyable) ill temper here, but the actual brawling is neither exciting nor particularly earned. Jumbo may be looking to transition to a more standup style, but he doesn't really get given enough for that to work; they're not exactly working a 1995 style, and they take the easy way to filling out a TLD. Nonetheless, it passes quickly and there's tonnes of charisma here. 3.5/5

22.05.2024 | conker8 | 9.0 | Awesome match - great technical wrestling, great nearfalls - Funk does a dropkick outside the ring ! Some awesome pinfall combinations, awesome submissions work ! - do I like it better than the '76 match ?
22.05.2024 | JerryVonK | 9.0 | I'm not sure how high I can go here, it doesn't have that definitive finish you want and a bit too much headlock for me in the early going, but it was sheer awesome from the reverse chinlock onwards. Loved it, loved it. I am unapologetically a mark for both guys. And I was popping for the nearfalls, which takes a lot to do these days.

14.04.2022 | TigerDiver | 7.0 | I'm sure on any other day and night, a 30 mins broadway between Funk and Jumbo could've only been a strong MOTYC. This was a little disappointing judging on the cover, but what we got was good enough. I think this suffered mostly from the reliance on holds, which felt a little too much at points, even though it never dragged the match down. The action, the constant back and forth, were mostly consistent, with both men putting on a reliable performance before the time limit draw predictably took over. Overall, this was very good, but never seemingly got out of third gear at any point, pushing it down a notch of excellence. [***1/2]
04.11.2020 | JokerDeSilva | 7.0 | It's hard to fully judge when it's difficult to find a full-length version of the match, admittedly, but some brief cuts aside this is clearly a solid encounter. Funk and Tsuruta are both very hard workers and Funk shows off fantastically as the nasty but surprisingly athletic foreign heel against Tsuruta's endlessly fiery babyface. There's nothing that really takes it into "wow" territory, and barring truly exceptional matches it's hard to get too jazzed up about a time limit draw most of the time, but this is definitely a match to seek out if you want to see Terry Funk in his young prime or Jumbo Tsuruta just doing, well, wonderful Jumbo Tsuruta things.
27.07.2020 | KinchStalker | 7.0 | This has been clipped, but I think we only lose a fifth of the match at worst. Obviously this isn't a patch on their 1976 match, but this pairing still creates a solid match with quality back-and-forth and good nearfalls before we reach the thirty-minute time-limit draw. Not a career performance from either man, but still good work. ***1/2
