[8.0] "Yeah this match is great... I'm biased because I love them together, but these two sure as hell know how to put a spectacle, and that was another very fun match, different than the WrestleMania/Main Event spectacles, that one was more focused on the wrestling, it's sport-based, and it rules, it's a clear demonstration that they're versatile and can do much more than relying on the atmosphere and moments. I'm fond of this one because it's a match that many people don't know it exists, it wasn't massively propagated at the time, despite having a respectable crowd, and people always act surprised that this happened. That 'hidden' vibe actually fits very well with their choices here, it's not a very charismatic match, and instead they work a personal, and somewhat dark brawl, it's very cool, I can see people watching and thinking it's worse than the legendary extravaganzas, but it's equally valuable, and the way they brawl during the start of the match is excellent. Andre traps Hogan in his own shirt, and dominate the match for a bit, but when he was about to escape by the door, Hogan recovered and stopped him, and that was a recurring thing of course, the door possibility is always there. The ending is very nice, with Heenan entering the ring to screw Hogan, but the strategy backfired, and Hogan not only had his hands on Heenan, but managed to trap Andre when he was trying to climb the cage, creating a huge buzz, and winning the match right after, finally getting his revenge on Andre for the title loss. Everything here was really well built, and Hogan's blade job was the icing on the cake - {***3/4}"
[5.0] "This was FAR better than their rushed mess at Mania 4 and the cage gimmick works wonders in this type of match up. Funny thing is, because the cage is mounted on the arena floor, Andre's head is able to reach the top of the cage! I think this was the last time these two had a one on one showdown."
[4.0] "Not sure what match other people were watching because I just thought this was mostly a bit dull with the added bonus of the most obvious blade job of all time from Hogan. Production did him no favours. Crowd were mostly dead for it until the finish"
[7.0] "Even though the match was slow it still managed to be somewhat exciting to watch and I like that this was the first match in the DVD I watched tbh at had the escape only rule. The match finish was never it doubt tho."
[7.0] "Seeing this, I want to say that every Hogan vs Andre match should've been in a cage, as it provided more ways for the limited giant to attack his opponent. Hogan felt more in peril of losing from getting tied to the cage and Heenan interfering due to the fact that Andre could've won with an escape. Good stuff."
[6.0] "Hogan and Andre carried the WWF in 1987-1988. The whole world wanted to see these two clash and at WrestleMania 3, they did. Some call it the greatest match of all-time (Al Snow), but I didn't quite see it that way, at least not now. Back then, I thought it was, but this encounter in the cage had a little bit more sass in it from Andre."
[2.0] "This was truly awful. Andre could barely move by this point, relying almost entirely on standing chokeholds and slow, plodding offense. Hogan did what he could to carry the match, but there was only so much to be done with Andre in this condition. An absolute slog to get through. *"
[9.0] "Wayyyyy better than their wrestlemania encounter in my opinion. Andres selling was fantastic here, this match in general does andre more justice due to him being in better shape than at wm3. Hot ass crowd and great work by both wrestlers. ****1/2"
[3.0] "This is WAY too overrated. The match was very basic and at times very boring. At this point in his career Andre The Giant was clearly struggling due to his issues and he could no longer put on the same quality of match that he could during the 70s and early 80s. I've never been a Hulk Hogan fan and I personally don't think that despite his popularity, not much of his in-ring work holds up in the modern landscape of wrestling."
[8.0] "one of the epics only WWF can produce, good match between two legends of the game and probably the best match these two ever had with each other (***3/4)"
[7.0] "This was honestly an epic match, even better than their previous Wrestlemania encounter. Their matches didnt focus on ring work rather the storytelling of Andre battering Hogan and Hogan making a big comeback and toppling the Giant."
[8.0] "A year and a half after their Wrestlemania 3 match, Andre faces Hogan once again. To make up for Andre's physical limitations, this match mainly consists of Andre mauling Hogan by choking him with his own shirt. This is quite the vicious match with a lot of struggle involved. Hogan even gets some colour after Andre rams him into the exposed turnbuckle. Andre does his arms trapped in the ropes bit while Heenan takes a nasty bump into the cage and Hogan is victorious. If you want an example of Andre being a great wrestler, even when his body is failing him, look no further than this match. He takes exactly one bump here, and that was just him dropping the elbow. Despite all that, we got a great match here."
[6.0] "As with every Hogan/André match, it's less about the in-ring action, and more about the spectacle of it all. There's an interesting parallel here with the 1980 Showdown at Shea, where Hogan/André faced off in their second match (this being their second last against each other), which also had a steel cage match as the main event, which also took place at a baseball stadium."
[7.0] "It was a really cool Steel Cage Match, Andre The Giant and Hulk Hogan are hitting very good Chops, Andre's selling was very good too. The fact that Hogan escapes the cage at his first attempt is very good because he is the babyface that stop Andre when he wants to escape. Overbooked a little bit but it stills a really good match. ***1/4"
[4.0] "Fine enough way to blow off their feud I guess, but I didn't really need to see another match between these two. It could have been worse and the cage probably helped, but I hope this is the last match I have to rate from these two."
[8.0] "Another really enjoyable match between these two. I appreciate the less is more style that helped these wrestlers seem like huge stars in this era, and when Heenan gets in the cage as well and starts bumping around? It's a thing of beauty."
