[7.0] "Went in person, had a lovely time. Thrilled that I got to see Tana in the flesh one last time. Objectively not a great show, but marking one above 'acceptable' due to the Tana factor."

[5.0] "Nothing on this show especially worth checking out apart from the main-event, though the work overall was mostly decent. Sanada vs Boltin was a story of brawling, shenanigans, and occasionally decent actual wrestling vs limited raw-strength displays. Boltin still isn't that impressive aside from catching guys out of the air, and Sanada continues to have his H.o.T gimmick wear down his otherwise solid offence. Uemura vs Newman was a simple but effective story of Uemura's intelligent arm-targeting against Newman's speed and athleticism. Newman's arm-selling was a bit melodramatic as usual but still impressively consistent. Taichi vs Evil suffered from Evil's mostly lethargic offence and of course the usual, lazy H.o.T interference work, but Taichi was slick, explosive, and fiery enough to give the match a decent amount of life. Despite the shenanigans in the final 1/4th, their run-on counters and near falls actually ended up being decent. Tsuji and Oiwa both had good technique, energy, and impact with mostly everything they went for. It was a shame that their spots and sequences became more generic and cliched in the final 1/3rd, but at least their chemistry remained good. Tanahashi vs Finlay was surprising because Tanahashi actually looked relatively okay, with that being in part due to Finlay's selling/bumping efforts plus Tanahashi's own trademark fiery selling. Finally clearly held his beatdown work back a bit but still impressed with his signature stuff, and I thought it was smart how Tanahashi foreshadowed and built-up his various sudden pin attempts leading to his match-winning cradle. Clear MOTN albeit still not must-see. Ratings: Sanada vs Boltin **1/2. Uemura vs Newman ***. Taichi vs Evil **1/2. Tsuji vs Oiwa ***. Tanahashi vs Finlay ***1/4"

[7.0] "Watching Newman, Oiwa, and Uemura perform and develop in this tournament has been a pleasure. David Finlay continuing to be a real player has also been exciting. Satisfying block matches tonight."

[7.0] "The block matches really ranged obviously you had your standard dull Evil match. A above average Sanada match mainly thanks to Boltin. Some fun contest between Uemura/Newman and Finlay and Tanahashi and a banger between Tsuji and Oiwa so yeah a mixed but enjoyable night."

[8.0] "This was another good night of the G1, with the only decent-bad matches being from the H.O.T members. Boltin vs SANADA (***): This was decent, but it had an effective story and played its part. Nothing special, but it was very solid, which I'm okay with. Yuya vs Newman (****): Man Newman just gets better and better. Same for Yuya. Both guys did great here and it was a very fun and entertaining match from start to finish. I'm starting to dig Callum's new attitude. It's exactly what he needs right now. EVIL vs Taichi (*.75): Bad. But all EVIL matches are a chore to get through. I really loved the ref finally punching EVIL. Taichi getting the crowd behind him was also a good thing in the match, but they fell silent when the abrupt finish happened. Tsuji vs Oiwa (****.5): Man these two were great to watch. Instant chemistry. Tsuji was able to show some of his llave style from when he was in Mexico and it meshed greatly against Oiwa's technical expertise from training with ZSJ and Ogawa. Tanahashi vs Finlay (****.5): Awesome main event that reminded me a little of the classic top face vs dastardly heel main event from New Japan. Tana looked great, Finlay looked great, both men did an awesome back and forth, great strikes, great match."

[7.0] "Good day G1. No bad matches. As usual, the pre-main and main are the best matches of the day. I'm happy for Boltin, an amazing wrestler from Kazakhstan."
