[7.0] "Callum Newman vs Hiroshi Tanahashi: A fine short timed match to open the show, Newman winning was good to see if a little surprised, they had a fine set of exchanges, nothing too special happened in this one [**1/4]. Drilla Moloney vs Shota Umino: A decent little match between these two, could have gone 5/6 minutes longer and there probably wouldn't be any issues with that, some solid exchanges and counters especially towards the end [***]. Boltin Oleg vs Ryohei Oiwa: A good match between these two, they had good level of chemistry and Oleg getting the win made sense, Oiwa did put up a fight but ultimately could not get the win [***]. YOSHI-HASHI vs Ren Narita: A minute and a half match that started with Narita attacking YH before the bell and YH getting the win was good to see [*]. David Finlay vs SANADA: A good match with Finlay getting the obvious win here against SANADA with a decent ending sequence here [***1/4]. Great O-Khan vs Shingo Takagi: An engaging contest between these two which would have benefited from a bit more time given to it, GOK winning was the right call here even if Takagi gave a good showing here [***]. EVIL vs Yota Tsuji: All the interference spots were not needed but not surprising given EVIL was in the match, Tsuji should have won but EVIL got the win in what was a terrible match [*1/4]. El Phantasmo vs Konosuke Takeshita: Another great G1 Climax tournament match from these two, some shock near falls and some great exhcnages and counters, ELP getting the win was good to see, one of the better matches from the show [****1/2]. Taichi vs Yuya Uemura: A great match for the main event, Taichi had one of his best singles matches in a while against Uemura who despite losing put up a great fight, I really enjoyed this one more than I expected, MOTN for Night 2 [****3/4]"

[7.0] "Much enjoyable Night compared to Night 2, more matches I found enjoyable such as Drilla Moloney vs. Shota Umino, David Finlay vs. Sanada, EL Phantasmo vs. Konosuke Takeshita, and Taichi vs. Yuya Uemura as the main event!"

[5.0] "A mediocre G1 show, not as bad as night 1 simply because the main-event was FAR stronger. There were still some really weak matches in there, but at least enough some decent enough ones to mostly balance it out. Tanahashi was still really limited but thankfully not very botchy, and Newman carried their match pretty well with his leg-selling and athletic displays. Shota and Moloney both had some REALLY underwhelming offence and worked the most generic 50/50 fighting-spirit bombfest ever. Shota for once actually resembled many of the usual criticisms thrown at him. Oiwa still has good confidence and technique but is lacking that next level intensity, whereas Boltin is still quite limited and has offence that's always a bit too awkward-looking. Yoshi-Hashi vs Narita was a return to worthless H.o.T shenanigans and mediocre offence. At least it was quick and with a creative (albeit contrived) finish. Sanada and Finlay both had nice beatdown work and targeting, plus solid chemistry between them. Would've liked to see more. Shingo was on autopilot mode but naturally still solid, while O-Khan was just his usual goofy self with either mediocre or outright hokey offence. Evil went for the worst of his H.o.T shenanigans against Tsuji, resulting in some real 'sports-entertainment' schlock that even Tsuji couldn't salvage. ELP vs Takeshita had good chemistry and some cool ideas and moments, but it eventually became too overkill without anything truly special in order to consider it as anything other than just 'decent'. Taichi vs Uemura was easily MOTN and MOTT thus far, following a nice story of Taichi's signature kicks and wonderful fire against Uemura's arm-targeting and occasional leg-targeting, with Taichi being resilient and dangerous enough to pull out the victory. Really good chemistry there and ultimately a feel-good moment for the criminally under-utilised lip-synching king. Ratings: Tanahashi vs Newman **1/2. Moloney vs Shota **. Oiwa vs Boltin **1/2. Yoshi-Hashi vs Narita NR (too short). Sanada vs Finlay ***. Shingo vs O-Khan **1/4. Evil vs Tsuji *1/2. ELP vs Takeshita ***. Taichi vs Uemura ***1/4 - ***1/2"

[7.0] "A very enjoyable night of wrestling unfortunately let down a bit by a crowd that seemed a bit tired and a bit disappointed by the lack of the Gabe Kidd/ZSJ main event. But I think the overall quality of wrestling was higher here than night 1. Good stuff!"

[7.0] "About the same in terms of quality as Night 1 - still a G1 show, so it has a level of intensity and focus that is fun to watch. Excited for the rest of the tournament!"

[7.0] "A good second day with overall better and stronger matches than the start of the tournament. I enjoyed watching the show, but sad that Narita and Yoshi-Hashi had less than five minutes to work the match."

[4.0] "ZSJ vs Kidd lacking really hurt this one and that's the main cause of the rating, hope Kidd gets well soon. Other than that there was a shitload of normal 3* matches and two bad HoT with only the Take/ELP bout shining. **1/4"

[7.0] "Another solid day of G1 action, probably a hair below day 1 in terms of quality but still some really high points and few low points. Even the HoT shenanigans were fairly fun and the main and semi main were excellent. Worth a watch throughout."

[7.0] "Not much to write home about but the last two matches made it another solid day of G1 action. Aside from those matches I did enjoy seeing another Yoshi-Hashi win and Takagi/O-Khan was fun. Excited for the rest of the tournament!"

[7.0] "Another pretty decent show with some decent match saved by the last two matches that pulled it out of very mid territory. I liked some of the mid card action Oiwa/Boltin and Gok/Shingo were both fun watches and as already mentioned the double main was great. But then you had some utter dross with Shota/Drilla and Evil/Tsuji and a pointless match in Hashi/Narita shocker two H.o.T matches were shit did not see that one coming (obvious sarcasm). Overall just a fine show although i am excited to see what bullshit happens in Evil vs Sanada on day 3 (finger poke of doom incoming)"

[7.0] "Another "could've been great" show ruined by the House. It was getting tiresome years ago but this is the big feud to last us the next few months, so let's buckle in and enjoy the next dozen or two 7/10 shows that could be 8s or 9s if not for the gaping flaw."

[8.0] "I enjoyed Night 2 much more than Night 1. The double main event delivered, ELP/Takeshita not up to their previous standards but still great, and Taichi/Uemura was a fun hard-hitting deserved main event. Really shame that we didn't get Gabe vs. ZSJ. The undercard was stronger than last night with the exception of EVIL/Tsuji."

"I don't normally leave show comments, but I rated the majority of these matches 6/10 or better and thought the stuff I would rate lower was fine; watchable. The first show from the night before was not the best, but has a couple good matches. This one was consistent and may have been because the main event was canceled before the taping. All hands on deck for a good show, I would guess."

[6.0] "The only bad matches on this show were Moloney vs Umino and Tsuji vs EVIL, everything else was good, and two (GOK vs Takagi and Taichi vs Uemura) were definitely worth watching. Gabe Kidd injury is a real shame."

[7.0] "Super solid show and some super solid matches. A lot of surprises, which is always nice. You never want the G1 to go chalk. This a solid show, despite missing the main event, and will build to big matches later on."

[4.0] "A pretty dismal show that portends another dull G1 season. The night starts off with Gabe announcing an apparently real injury, which certainly puts a damper on proceedings. What followed was mostly mediocre matches with two abysmal ones. The Shota/Drilla match in particular drew my ire. Tonight's crowd felt pretty flat which contributed to the pedestrian feeling of the whole show. This event really illustrates the thinness of the roster and the directionless-ness of the booking. It's funny how much attention NJPW still commands in western IWC discussion when THIS is representative of the quality of what they're offering. This show contrasts very poorly with NOAH's concurrent offerings."

[7.0] "I hope Gabe gets better soon, because I was really looking forward to his matches this year. Nonetheless, I liked this night better then night 1. Newman vs Tanahashi (***.5): Nice little sprint. Nothing super exciting but not as bad as I had expected. Newman has grown and improved since last year. Moloney vs Umino (**.25): This was bad. I like Moloney, but this match wasn't it. Umino is sometimes good, sometimes not. His character isn't there. Moloney was alright. The crowd was dead for this, which also hurt the match. Oleg vs Oiwa (***.75): This was fun. Not nearly as good as Boltin and Yuya the night before, but it was still a fun match. Yoshi vs Narita (*): Short match. This was dominated by Narita. Yoshi got the surprise pin. Thats all. Finlay vs SANADA (***.75): This was super fun and was much better then I had thought it would be, especially after the horrendous match SANADA had against Tsuji yesterday. No interferences, but SANADA played a good heel. O-Khan vs Shingo (***.75): This was alright. Shingo and O-Khan don't have the best matches, but they always mesh decently. Although it gets boring at times because they usually go to the same thing, but O-Khan finally getting a win over Shingo is surprising. EVIL vs Tsuji (*.5): The only good thing in the match was the hot crowd for Tsuji. Other then that, absolute dogshit. ELP vs Takeshita (****.75): Great match, which is to be expected with these two. Back and forth and beat the fuck out of each other. Great stuff. Taichi vs Yuya (****.5): Im slightly disappointed that we didn't get ZSJ vs Gabe, but Taichi and Yuya were awesome to watch. Great back and forth beating. I loved it. Main event Taichi really is a treasure to watch, and Yuya deserves a push in the near future."
