[2.0] "Nothing of value on the card. Main event was crap and you had your average undercard tags. Probably the weakest show of the tournament."

[7.0] "It was a good event. The main event was the most important match and it was good enough with Umino did finally something good.Let's see if this tournament and the change he made makes fans to start support him."

[5.0] "A disappointing show that was for the 90% generic multimen action and for the rest a main-event that wasn't really at the level of ZSJ vs Finlay. This event was yet another prove that splitting the semi-finals wasn't a smart idea at all and I hope next year that 'll change. **1/2"

[5.0] "Satoshi Kojima & Yuji Nagata vs Hiroshi Tanahashi & Katsuya Murashima: Kojima and Tanahashi had their final preview ahead of their match on the New Japan Cup Final Night, Nagata and Murashima had an okay set of exchanges [**1/4]. Callum Newman, Great O-Khan, Jakob Austin Young, Jeff Cobb & TJP vs Boltin Oleg, Daiki Nagai, El Phantasmo, Jado & Toru Yano: A fine multi man match to further hype the potential match of ELP vs TJP, all did what they needed to do [**]. Hartley Jackson, Ryohei Oiwa & Zack Sabre Jr vs Tomoaki Honma, Tomohiro Ishii & YOSHI-HASHI: A solid six man tag team match, ZSJ and YH, Oiwa and Honma and Ishii and Jackson prove to be interesting exchanges [***]. David Finlay, Drilla Moloney & SANADA vs Taichi, TAKA Michinoku & Yuya Uemura: Solid match but pointless to be honest, this was a house show standard match [*3/4]. Bad Luck Fale, Chase Owens & Gabe Kidd vs Ren Narita, SHO & Yoshinobu Kanemaru: Another count out result which is not a good way to go, the match was average I guess [*3/4]. Dick Togo, EVIL & Yujiro Takahashi vs BUSHI, Tetsuya Naito & Yota Tsuji: A somewhat okay mutli man match, nothing memorable happened here which is not surprising considering HoT were in this match [**]. Shota Umino vs Shingo Takagi: A decent match, was not on the level of the other tournament semi final match, but Umino winning was a surprise, did start off slow and then did pick up the pace a little bit [***1/2]."

[5.0] "The show was pretty good, but the semifinal was terrible--slow and boring. And in the end, we get Shota in the final and potentially as a title challenger? Just no. Even with a complete character rebuild, it still feels way too weak for now."

[6.0] "An okay show. The preliminary tag matches were the same as usual and some stories continued their progression. There's a clear direction for the title matches (Tsuji vs EVIL, ELP vs GOK/TJP, LIJ vs UE) and undercard singles (Oiwa vs Ishii, Kidd vs Narita) that will get announced soon. It is weird knowing Kidd and Ishii have a 30-minute Iron Man match for the STRONG title in a month but haven't interacted at all. The STRONG titles are just titles for the sake of having them on the show. Also, I totally forgot who were NEVER 6-man champs this entire tournament until today. HoT rarely comes out with them. I feel like it would make sense to have them defend them against the War Dogs but we'll see. The main event was fine and a solid match but Umino's still stuck in the same gear as always and Shingo, as much as I wish NJPW would do more with him, is there to be the wall to prove yourself. I'm glad he got that initial IWGP World title reign though. Shota still has issues selling and starting his matches off slowly. I'm hoping him and Finlay are able to pull off a great final. Shota feels like he really won't hit that next level until they pull the trigger on the new gimmick. I don't think he's the next Ace--my heart and gut tell me Uemura--but the guy has great Dark Ace potential and it fits the story of that is the case. I still believe Finlay is winning and Goto retains. Umino vs Goto in Chicago also makes sense as well."
