[5.0] "As I said in my review of the match, MJF vs Cole wasn't my cup of tea, although it was a point of interest in the show. The main event was nice, with the post-match segment being the peak of this Dynamite. The other matches were skippable, there were no memorable promos, the build for Forbidden Door is super disappointing and nothing too important happened."

[8.0] "While I wouldn't go as far as to call it one of the greatest Dynamites ever, I would say it's one of the strongest episodes this year thanks to the opener and main event. The only weak point was the match between Wardlow and Jake Hager which wasn't a surprise to me but at least it wasn't particularly long. MJF's match quality continues to be great even if the title reign hasn't been as great as I thought it would be and The Elite/BCC feud continues to be hot. Overall i'd give it an 8/10"

Opener was among Coles best AEW matches although I thought it fizzled out toward the end largely when Cole was on offense. The middle three matches were varying degrees of ok. Good main event. Better than a number of recent Dynamites and not a bad show but nothing overly exceptional."

[9.0] "One of the most fun Dynamites of the year, and I'd wager one of the better ones of all time. I can't go 10/10 perfect - but if every Dynamite had the same quality and vibe that this one did, I'm not sure I would have room for complaints ever again. MJF/Cole was a fantastic opener and is exactly the type of match Cole has needed to have for a very long time. A fun 8-man tag, a quick but fun Women's Title match, and an incredibly strong Main Event with a post match angle that had me buzzed for HOURS afterwards."
kakkakikkare wrote on 17.06.2023:

SKeL wrote on 17.06.2023:
[8.0] "Great show overall, amazing first hour with Cole vs MJF and amazing ending with the very good main event and the post match. But the middle of the show was kinda mid (no pun intended), the 6 man tag was a lot of fun but it felt rushed, Wardlow vs Hager was an extended squash, and Toni vs Skye was too short. I very much liked the forbidden door matches annoucements, I looked forward to MJF vs Tanahashi since a long time"
TrueCritic42 wrote on 17.06.2023:

Blue's improvement over the last year has been tremendous. AEW is so fucking back with Eddie returning. Can't wait to see where this goes! (Haters will say it isn't the summer of JungleHook but it's so on.)"

[8.0] "I'm not as high on the opener as everyone else at all, and it's probably MJFs worst match since becoming champion but overall it was still a good match. The Punk video package for Collison was really good. Jericho/Sting faceoff was cool, but the actual segment itself was meh. Why was Wardlow/Hager on the show? Skye vs Toni was fine and the 8 man tag was very chaotic as it should have been plus was a good match. The main event was great, and the segment after it was even better, which is the reason why this show was great."

[7.0] "A nice start with the first two matches and a bit of a drop-off after that, but there were so many announcements and match-teases by the end of it that it felt like so much was happening. There were definitely some lower points but all in all, this got me more interested in upcoming shows and left me feeling that the wheels are in motion in AEW. Hopefully they're out of the holding pattern they've been in recently. Time will tell, but this was a pretty good sign. Some of the Forbidden Door matches seem a little weird or wasteful right now (Perry vs Sanada is definitely weird), but they're all cherries on the cake of Okada vs Danielson and Omega vs Ospreay at this point."
ZooWee wrote on 15.06.2023:
[9.0] "What an absolute banger this show was. Not only did we have incredible wrestling on this show in the form of MJF vs Cole, which is one of the best TV matches of the year, and the main event, which led to an absolutely insane ending to the show, but we had some great announcements for upcoming shows, including a ton of matches for Collision which made me genuinely hyped for the show, an absolute banger of a card for Rampage, and two matches for Forbidden Door in MJF vs Tanahashi and, weirdly, Jungle Boy vs SANADA, which looks strange on paper, but should be pretty great and will hopefully lead to Jack turning heel. It's not a perfect show, as Wardlow vs Hager was kinda mid and I didn't really care for the Jericho/Sammy/Darby/Sting segment, but those were honestly minor flaws on what was yet another phenomenal episode of TV."
Matt Macks wrote on 15.06.2023:
[10.0] "This was pretty incredible. AEW is firing on all cylinders ahead of the Collision debut and the Forbidden Door pay per view. Cole and MJF had a beautiful match to start off the show on the right foot, then the Eight Man Tag Team Match was pure chaos (sometimes too much, but mostly good). Loved Cage's Road Warrior tribute. I am also fine with pairing Darby and Sting with Jericho and Sammy, as the latter's dynamic is also a big part of the story already. Wardlow and Arn works for me, although Wardlow's new singlet attire does not. Hager was fine and bumped great for Wardlow, but this nevertheless was the lowlight of the show. Storm and Blue had a good match and I can see Skye Blue becoming a great babyface one day, with a bit more experience and more exciting offense. Storm is intimidatingly great as 2-time champion so far, she is on the top of her game and I like Ruby as sidekick more than in the ring. The main event was a good match, but the story was the 7-minute aftermath with a litany of surprises, returns and ambushes. Loved Danielson congratulating Ospreay, oh what a match that will be some day. The interviews and match announcements were great as well. Tanahashi/MJF? Yup. Sanada/Perry? A bit out of nowhere, but I like it. Miro and Andrade returning on Saturday? Yes, please. CM Punk talking already, and Switchblade already kicking up dust against the returning superstar? Oh yes. Very, very promising. Overall, I cannot not give the show best marks for the overall quality, presentation and storyline advancements."

While we had some mid matches, as it is always the case, we also had two of the most fun TV matches of the year in just one night, which is a testament of the quality in display here. It wasn't an all timer, but definetly a step on the right direction while building towards the next week, when the highly anticipated Forbidden Door II will take place."

Like it feels like he was CONVINCED that the crowd saw Sammy as a white-hot babyface and didn't care to change plans. The matches were all real fun to watch, and good wrestling. However, the combination of weird finishes and meh promos was pretty strange to me. The only non-match thing that excited me was seeing that CM Punk vignette. Saturday could be make or break for this company."

Of course the ending was one of AEW's best for a Dynamite in company history, but also there was a shitty Wardlow match, and an unremarkable women's title match. Kickoff match did it's job to further the storyline between Cole and MJF."

[10.0] "This felt like the Summer Season Premiere of All Elite Wresting. This was an all-timer of an episode of #AEWDynamite. As my friend Pat said, "Awesome show! They needed it and they delivered. A little flabbergasted by Jungle Boy, but seems to be setting up a heel turn nicely so I'll take it. Great stuff! " This show had great variety: Pro Wrestling: Adam Cole vs MJF was excellent modern pro wrestling with some classic sports entertainment involved in the finish. Would it have been better if they had been calling out the time cues throughout the match? Probably, but they would have needed to be more consistent with that throughout all long matches the way they did back in the early days of AEW. I suspected that this match was going to go to a time-limit draw because I didn't think they were going to have MJF lose for the first time since DON 2022 and I didn't think they were going to have Adam Cole lose either. The 8-Man Tag had some great spots with the Orange Cassidy and Darby tandem dives, the Orange Punch into the Scorpion Death Drop, etc. Homegrown AEW Stars: Darby Allin, Orange Cassidy, Jungle Boy Jack Perry, Hook, Wardlow, Sammy Guevara, Wheeler Yuta, Daniel Garcia, The Gunns, Konosuke Takeshita The AEW Foundation Pieces: The Young Bucks, Kenny Omega, Hangman Adam Page The Impact WWE Signings: Chris Jericho, Jon Moxley, Bryan Danielson, Adam Cole, Swerve Strickland (props to him for making himself and impact signing) The NJPW talent: Tanahashi, Sanada, Zack Sabre Jr., and then Will Ospreay making a physical impact in his return to AEW. Another big return: Eddie Kingston. Nostalgia with a twist: Jericho and Sting are holdovers from wrestling's hottest historical period, but neither of them have interacted before."

It had the usual Dynamite lull when the second hour started, but stuck the landing with one of the best finishes in their history. My favourite episode in quite a while."

The opener was good but suffered familiar drawbacks. The multi-man tags were chaotic but clean. The ending was great, shining a light on so many. Great TV-match performances from MJF, Keith Lee, Swerve, Cage, The Hung Bucks, and Mox."

Every match delivered, especially the opener and the main event, where everyone involved COOKED. Add in some more hype for Forbidden Door, and you've got yourself a stellar show top to bottom."
Michael Morbius wrote on 15.06.2023:

Guevara/Jericho promo was pretty good and Jericho going face to face with Sting was a great moment. Lots of announcements for Forbidden Door: Jack Perry vs. Sanada and Mjf vs. Tanahashi look very good on paper despite no build-up."

Awesome opening match, great chaotic multi-man, decent hoss fight, solid women's title match (Skye Blue is really starting to get where she needs to be) and an awesome main event. Bunch of surprise returns, match announcements and big moments. AEW is at it's best with these exciting hot shows, and if this is a sign of things to come then we are in for an absolutely magical summer of wrestling."

[6.0] "I liked a lot here, but mostly the shorter things, while the longer stuff usually didn't do much for me. MJF vs Cole was very mediocre. MJF's overly performative heel schtick and abandoned arm-targeting were annoying, while Cole's babyface-selling was completely heartless. I at least liked MJF's early arm-targeting, and I appreciated Coles consistent arm-selling despite him showing zero emotion. Their trades were okay, though their run-on counters were overly cooperative. The ref bump, MJFs superman booking, and the convenience of, plus literal non-existent teasing/foreshadowing of, the time-limit running out was all REALLY bad. **1/2. Punk teasing a big tell-all for Collision was great. The Sammy, Darby, and Jericho segment was forgettable. Sammy and Darby still can't talk, Sammy still doesn't work as a babyface, and I don't care for another Sammy-vs-Jericho dissension tease. Sanada vs Jungle Boy at Forbidden Door is very disappointing. The 8-man tag was alright. Both teams hit a bunch of cool spots/sequences, with the babyfaces showing good energy and the heels showing good aggression. Nothing special but enjoyable enough for a mindless sprint. ***. The Gunns' backstage interview was pretty entertaining, since their arrogant and self-absorbed attitudes are presented very convincingly. Wardlow vs Hager was a forgettable powerhouse match. It didn't help that the crowd was dead due to Wardlow's poor booking and Hager's irrelevance. The effortless interference and ramp brawl sucked, but Wardlow showed sparks of excitement at the end. **1/4. Christian and Saurus' attack on Arn was forgettable, especially because it was quickly brushed aside to unintentionally emphasise how unimportant it was. Tanahashi challenging MJF for the AEW World Title was very cool, and MJF refusing it and demeaning NJPW afterwards was pretty funny. Sabre was very entertaining in the backstage segment with Cassidy and Garcia. Toni vs Skye was surprisingly okay. Toni's 'ditzy coward' heel work is aggravating, but her impactful attacks and arrogant character work remain quite entertaining. Skye was a bit sloppy but did well with her energetic comebacks. I don't even mind The Outcasts' interference now because they usually time it well and mix in entertaining character work, plus their dominance now feels significant. **3/4. Page & The Bucks vs Claudio, Moxley & Yuta was surprisingly good for a generic AEW main-event multi-man spotfest. The Bucks still do little for me, but BCC as a team of brawling brutes was fun, and Moxley, Claudio, and Page all had moments of delivering some nice big strikes. The big run-on trades at the end were mindless but chaotically enjoyable with the impressively quick pace, too. ***1/4. The post-match segment continued to chaos in mostly exciting fashion. Kingston's run-in was lame, but Takeshita, Omega, and Ospreay's run-ins were all progressively more and more exciting, with that strong finish bumping the show up a bit."

AEW reminds me why it is the promotion that made me come back to wrestling."

However, after this the show went a bit downhill with 3 very average matches in a row, with me personally still not seeing it with Toni Storm and Jake Hager and Wardlow having a heatless match. The main event could have been better as well so overall a slightly above average show thanks to the main event."

The Bucks dressed as cowboys makes you smile after all the past fights. Blackpool is now a guarantee of good and well-structured matches, Castagnoli and Yuta do a good job as a tag team and Moxley is a great hitter. Many important moments also for Forbidden Door, this year they are preparing it much better. Nice spotlight for Skye Blue, short match, but she was able to show herself well, the Storm Zero kickout is a credit fort the future in my opinion. The series of run in after the main event , with Ospreay and Omega at last, closed the episode with a lot of extra adrenaline, a good choice. The opening match is a first time ever with a final minutes very incredible and great storytelling. Adam Cole is not 100% for me but this match is a first fight intense in his returns in action Various announcements also for Collision, the video of Cm Punk is nice, but also that of FTR and Bullet Club Gold which is finally starting to do something more concrete. Samoa Joe could tip the balance of that main event but in the meantime Dynamite is confirmed as the main and best show of All Elite Wrestling"

The bits I didn't like (Wardlow/Hager and the Women's title match) were not harmful towards my overall experience of the show. Fantastic opener, good enough main event and a fun 8-man tag. Also: It's great to see that they're building to Forbidddn Door WAY better than last year. More singles matches and more intruiging ones too. ZSJ vs OC and SANADA vs Jack Perry could both be very good, even though I would have preferred other options more. The only match coming up on that card that I'm really not looking forward too is MJF vs Tana since we're past the point of Tanahashi going for big titles."

Keith Lee, Swerve and Brian Cage looking good in that. Toni Storm is absolutely my favorite female performer in the company, and Skye looked good again. In the main event is was so good to see the Hungmen back together. The series of returns at the end felt like a PPV preview. Kingston, Osprey. Also, Rene Paquette had a lot of subtle moments where she shined. An episode filled with everything I love about pro wrestling."

A solid ladies' match, a hoss match, and a bonkers six man high flying bonanza that closes the show with the hottest angle in the company. Lots of great promo work and story progression throughout the episode, as well as pushing the Forbidden Door build up."
