Especially in the chaotic confines of the CWA, where they had their most iconic matches together, but over 20 years later, in 3PW, they were able to re-capture that magic with what's probably their most underrated match of their rivalry. And even in 2015, what they delivered in their last singles match was pretty good!"

Their famous encounters are still aging soooo well, and they're still one of the best things ever EVER HAPPENED to this business since it started. Hands down. Great storyline and great promos, and just bangers of stuff you'd see in it. It's a feud with a lot of rich stuff in wrestling, so don't miss it out."
[9.0] "What a great rivalry this is, simply fantastic! Lawler and Funk started their feud and had their two most famous matches at the Memphis territory, where Lawler was the biggest star, so naturally Terry worked as a heel, an intruder, and they've produced magic. The No DQ bout is considered to be the first 5 star match ever, and it's a phenomenal brawl, but their magnum opus in terms of storytelling was truly the Empty Arena match, a revolutionary concept in many ways... it was the first notable empty arena match, and the whole thing was cinematic. Of course, like Lawler said on his auto-biography, it was something very new and could've been even better, but they were very unfamiliar with what they were doing, but even with that, I consider it to be an undeniable all-timer classic, and outstanding as an experience. They faced each other a couple more times at CWA, had a small feud at USWA, and the third notable match happened in 2003, at a small indy, and it's a blast, a total fan-service. Those two are wonderful wrestlers, masters of the punch and the selling, and their tales need to be protected and passed on through generations."

However one of these visions puts both these men atop that particular goat list. And this rivalry is a major reason as to why. The two put on many great matches across what seems like an exaggerated period of time. But I want to just take some time to focus on one promo and three matches. The promo and the first two matches come from 1982. First the promo, in which Terry Funks passion gives of the crazy energy only he was capable of. Which set up a pair of two violent battles. First a no DQ, followed by a legendary empty arena match. And for the final third match we go forward to 2003 where the two put on a timeless performance 22 years after the prior two mentioned matches. An all time great and one of my personal favourite feuds of all time. 5 stars."
