[8.0] "After the pioneers of the X Division, AJ Styles and Jerry Lynn, had left their mark on TNA history with an amazing rivalry, somebody had to follow the high bar they had set. So three new names had to enter the promotion and continue to have some of the most interesting matches of the year: Chris Sabin, Frankie Kazarian and Michael Shane, which would become the second generation of the X Division and the participants of one of TNA's most famous matches: Ultimate X. Chris Sabin had won the X Division title thanks to the interference by Vince Russo's S.E.X. He joined the team being built as "The Future" and he had some good defenses of the title, particulary one against Paul London at the Anniversary show. Who could have though that another wrestler nicknamed "The Future" would come to TNA and begun chasing for Sabin's title: Frankie Kazarian. On their first encounter, a non-title match, Kazarian defeated the champion. At the following show, Kazarian had a title match for the NWA World title against AJ Styles, but Chris Sabin interfering cost Kazarian the match. That begun the feud between them. On the coming weeks, Sabin told Kazarian that if he won some matches, they'll wave a match for the title. Kazarian won a Six Way Elimination tag and inmediately after the match ends, Sabin comes to the ring and tells a exhausted Kazarian that his match for the title was at that moment. Sabin defeated the tired Kazarian easily, adding more fuel to the fire. At the next show, they had a match that ended with a DQ. And on the following show a new contender arrived: Michael Shane. Shane was granted a chance to get the belt on his debut, but with Kazarian as the special guest referee. At a moment, Sabin tried using the title belt to finish the match, but Kazarian stopped him and snapped hitting the Wave of the Future. Before Michael Shane could pin his opponent, Rudy Charles came to the ring and sends Kazarian back, taking control of the match. Sabin used that distraction to hit Shane with the belt and retain. Kazarian had another chance against Sabin, but again the encounter ended with some problems and dirty tricks that allowed Sabin to retain. Then both Kazarian and Shane faced each other on a ladder match to determine the first contender. That match ended on a no-contest thanks to Sabin interfering. After all this problems the TNA authority had to intervine. So Don Callis announces the three will wrestle on a new stipulation, a new concept that will revolutionise wrestling: The Ultimate X. It was a very memorable match with an amazing performance by Chris Sabin and Michael Shane. When it seemed that Kazarian was going to win the title, Shane appeared out of nowhere, threw him off the cables and grabbed the title becoming the new X Division champion. Shane's first defense was against former champion Jerry Lynn, on a pretty good match that ended with an interference by Don Callis. And the following week we saw the Super X Cup, a great cruiserweight tournament where Lynn, Nosawa, Teddy Hart, Shane, Kazarian, Sabin, Jonny Storm and Juventud Guerrera wrestled on a high level. Shane was eliminated on the first round by Kazarian. Sabin first defeated Jerry Lynn and then Kazarian on the semis. The final was Juventud Guerrera vs Chris Sabin, one of the best matchs of 2003 TNA. After an intense and competitive match, Sabin was able to defeat Juvi with the Future Shock and win the tournament. Tensions kept getting higher, as Shane and Sabin kept messing with each other. For example, Shane stole a win from Sabin on a six man tag or later he knocked him out with the belt on a contendership match that Lynn won. After that, Sabin puts the Super X Cup trophy on the line to face Shane, who puts the X Division title on the line. Shane won that much with a rollup pulling the tights, so now is as if Shane was a double champion. After that other wrestlers joined the feud. First, Christopher Daniels, who wrestled Shane on a decent match. At that moment, Shane Douglas and Traci begun teasing that a New Franchise was coming with a young athlete and he was seen taking notes during the X Division matches. In the month of november, Shane creates the "Michael Shane Triple Chance Invitational", a tournament to decide the new contender that will take most part of the month. It consisted on a battle royal, where the winner passes to the finals, and the 4 last wrestlers eliminated had to win another singles match to pass to the finals. X (PCO) won the battle royal. On the semis, Christopher Daniels defeated Low Ki and Sonjay Dutt defeated Chad Collyer. Sabin was taking out after a package piledriver by X. That led to Dutt winning the Triple Chance Invitational and then facing Shane at the first show of December. There Shane Douglas and Traci appeared and joined Michael Shane, forming The New Franchise after destroying Dutt. At that point, Low Ki and Christopher Daniels, former allies at Triple X, joined the feud and started an intense rivalry where Daniels took out Ki with a stiff chairshot, and robbing him the contendership of the title. With all the tension between the 4 wrestlers, the TNA office decided to book another Ultimate X match between Shane, Sabin, Low Ki and Daniels at the first show of 2004. That second Ultimate X was far better than the first one, innovating with some new spots involving ladders and chairs and with some nice spots. Chris Sabin was able to regain the X Division championship after sending Shane through a table off the ladder. After that, Shane won a contendership match and had a final match with Sabin at the end of the month. Great continuation of the pioneers saga, with new and fresh talent. Sabin exits this feud looking like the Future of TNA and one of their top talents. Very good matchs, with nice chemistry and smooth action. This feud was relevant to the promotion, to show that the X Division kept being great and also to introduce the Ultimate X match, one of the best"
