1 | 13.01.2025 | ElGranJotafigaro | 8.0 | Somewhere around 2010, a group of wrestlers from Revolución Lucha Libre got into several backstage disputes with the promotion's management, and after a while, they left to found Xplosión Nacional de Lucha. There weren't many promotions in Santiago at that time, so the whole news became a shocker to fans. Being an adult-oriented and hardcore-inspired promotion, XNL was great during the first years. It became a NWA member for some time. Did awesome cross promotion shows with Pro Wrestling NOAH of Japan and X-LAW from Mexico. They brought to Chile international stars like Super Crazy, Sabu, Ricky Marvin, Taiji Ishimori, KENTA and Takeshi Morishima, only to mention a few. XNL even did a short-lived TV series in UCV channel. However, after that inicial success, XNL went into a spiral of decline in the following years. The main reason was that while main founder and investor, Gastón Mateo, was an extremely hard, loyal and competent worker, his production team wasn't, and screwed the poor guy over and over again with their incompetence, backstabbing attitude and laziness. The promotion entered an era of decadence, even to the point that Gastón Mateo decided to abandon the project, and XNL almost went bunkrupt. However, Mateo later returned, and then XNL had an extreme makeover following the COVID-19 pandemic. Nowadays, while there still veterans in the show, XNL is focusing on pushing new talent. |
