It just has a lot of bad memories associated with it, mostly related to booking decisions. It was doomed from the start really when Balor had to vacate due to injury. The design of the championship was very uninspiring and all but the final championhip reigns on here were just pretty meh. Happy to see it retired."

Kevin Owens won and was the right choice and then not only had a lackluster reign, he never sniffed that belt again. Brock's first reign with this was the closest it ever got to any kind of prestige. New championships really need a year long reign at minimum to make it important. After that we got the chrismaless version of Seth Rollins and unwanted Roman Reigns holding it."

With the WWE World Heavyweight Championship now established, the time came to deactivate the title. All non-dual champions should have their reigns considered equal to the WWE's World Title, but all dual champions should be considered a WWE Champion with two belts."

Maybe the Kevin Owens and The Fiend ones could have tip the balance a little bit, but the horrible title wins of Goldberg, the unbearable reigns of Lesnar, the boring one of Strowman and the failled tour of Rollins as a champion, plus the unfortunate lesion of Bálor the same match the championship was inaugurated, ended sealing the fate of the belt. Rest in peace, Universal Title. And please, never come back."

Kevin Owens saved it and made the title start to look somewhat like a contender to the wwe title but then he lost to Goldberg and the title's prestige completely dipped because I believe Kevin Owens should have beat Goldberg and then Brock and Oldberg would have there match at Mania without the title stipulation so Brock never holds this title cause when Brock won it and barely defended it even though he had some good matches like the fatal four way at SummerSlam, it just sucked he didn't need a 504 day reign that isn't even as good as CM Punks reign nowhere close. After the roman leukemia reign where he had to vacate it which was very sad cause he could of turned heel all the way back but unfortunately they couldn't do it because of the cancer. Brock again winning the title for another 5 months was unnecessary cause Braun at the time was over and for some reason Vince was dumb and decided to give Brock the title thinking the we wanted that ever again. Thankfully Seth won the title and went on to be the first person in awhile to actually put the title on the line regularly but things don't always have good endings cause Brock won MITB and was the secret entrant winning the briefcase in a record 30 seconds and cashing it in the next month and becoming champion again a 3rd time and this time I get it cause Seth and Brock were still in a feud at the time and they were telling a story of seth being the underdog and the "bEaSt sLaYeR". Anyways Seth's second reign was good with the fiend matches except for HIAC (we don't talk about that) and the fiend winning the title and having a good reign until Oldberg comes in and ruins the fiend by squashing him in 3 minutes. Strowman finally winning the title was stupid because they did it in front of nobody when he should won it 2 years prior at Crown Jewel but at least he had the title. Roman Reigns's reign was fantastic and has the best matches of the title's history but he needed to defend it more like he's started turning into Brock and it's not good cause then people aren't gonna care much about him holding it for 1316 days because his limited appearances. Besides that his reign is Imo the best reign since CM Punk's 434 day reign and the bloodline story is perfect! besides all this the title is alright could have been booked way better than it was though...disappointing."

I do feel bad for the likes of Finn Balor, Kevin Owens and Bray Wyatt that would have out the effort in to make the title credible. But no, lasted only 8 years and will be widely remebered for Brock Lesnar's and Roman Reigns lenghty title reigns. Perfectly good Wrestlemania Main events lost to the Universal title. Real shame."

From the time part-timer Goldberg defeated the second champion Kevin Owens in 22 seconds only to lose it a month later to fellow part-timer Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania. Kevin Owens hasn't won a world title since. Three years later Goldberg defeated The Fiend in Saudi Arabia in 3 minutes only to lose it a month later to Braun Strowman at WrestleMania. The Fiend would have one more 7-day run as Universal champ before the title was then used to give a returning Roman Reigns the greatest heel run of all time, and that was arguably the only time it seemed to mean anything. And just so that future pro wrestling historians don't get confused, this title was considered active by WWE and held by Cody Rhodes up till WrestleMania 41 in 2025, when they retroactively deactivated it so that John Cena gets only 17 World title runs when he won it from Cody. This belt lineage is so cursed it was RETCONNED."

The worst world title in WWE history, aside from Owens and Wyatt (you COULD argue Rollins) everyone who had this belt did more memorable things with the flagship belt like Reigns when the belts were unified. Did Roman give this title respect, or put it out of it's misery?"

If not for that, they would have probably phased it out by now like they did any other time they unified a lesser belt. Even WWE acknowledges this as the title is only counted on their website, and they dropped the "Universal" moniker altogether, which makes it the WWE Title by default. Very weird title this was, as it was only created to be the RAW title, much like both iterations of the World Heavyweight Title, but the design really killed people's interest, merely being a recolor of the modern WWE Title design at the time. It didn't help that WWE tried very hard to push this title over the WWE Title by having it main event multiple PPVs after its inception."

It was confusing as to why it was given such prominence considering it had zero lineage attached to it and was seemingly introduced as a way of say the Fed's top belt was bigger than everyone else's......... every company has a World title right? what's bigger than the World? The Universe. Add to this a plethora of rubbish reigns and title matches and this scored low for me. It would have scored lower if it wasn't for Roman Reign's epic run with the belt although arguably the best part of his run was when the his Universal strap was unified with the WWE one."

Well, yeah, it's not a great looking title, but it's quite legendary historically thanks to Roman Reigns. I'll joke Finn Balor did too. Brock Lesnar also held the title. I didn't like Brock being champion, but you can't deny having a machine like Lesnar added value to the title, which was being held back by some pretty hyped up guys like Braun Strowman, Samoa Joe, Finn Balor, and of course Roman Reigns. It feels like the title is being held so low just because of the name and the looks, which is hypocritical, especially now that we've been told outright that the title is equivalent to the WWE title, as both form the undisputed championship. I myself would not rate this title out of 10, like the WWE title, because from the same historical point of view the WWE title has many more iconic moments, but I would definitely not rate it below 5, knowing how many important confrontations have happened with this trophy on the line."

This title might have meant something at some point, but currently it is actively worse than not existing at all. If Roman's run with this is a candidate for greatest of all time, then I mourn our collective low standards. Here in October 2023, it is defended so infrequently that it cannot even be considered a reign. And those defenses come with caveat of slow, plodding, affairs. A whole other belt had to be created so that something important can be in the picture more often and even that has been cursed with a very lacklustre run. At this point, this belt exists to prop up some asinine record that will never be beat and will be undeserved. A belt of this magnitude should be the objective for most competitors but hardly anyone even discusses it. On top of all that, it has a completely stupid name and design."

There's been some good reigns and even a legendary one in there. So overall, considering everything it's a good title."

Sure, it had Finn Balor getting injured and that meant the whole first champion thing being a flop, Brock's terrible reign as he barely defended, and when he did, the matches were usually bad (the ones with Seth Rollins were mostly great though), but I think when Roman Reigns became our Tribal Chief in 2020, it gained a lot more prestige. Over 1316 days, Roman worked to bring the title back to his former glory. The Bloodline story is STILL one of WWE's best ever, and finishing the story was my personal favourite build to WrestleMania ever. The Final Boss Rock, and that WrestleMania XL main event was a beautiful cherry on top. And to those saying Cody's an outright bad champion, I just don't see it. The storylines range from okay enough to actually kinda good, but the matches deliver each and every time. So, yeah. It could've had a better start, but I think it's been redeemed just enough to get a satisfactory score."

[3.0] "A title that had a lot going against it. In name, you would assume that it's of greater importance than the World title, but it was only presented as such when Brock or Roman held it. The average run with this belt was pretty bad. A couple runs weren't able to get off the ground, and plenty of people held the belt only to drop it to someone else, namely Brock or Roman. Truly, the only "good" run I could think of with this belt is Roman's last run, which of course wasn't without it's hiccups, but it also went on for 4 years. On top of that, I think that Strowman's run with the title is one of the all-time worst World Title runs in WWE history. Strowman won it in a dud match at Pandemic Mania from Goldberg, only to go on and feud with the Miz AND John Morrison, then have maybe the worst cinematic match against the Fiend, then lose it to the Fiend who holds it for a week. Brock's interminable run, Rollins feuding with Baron Corbin and Lacey Evans, Owens' run ending in a whimper, Finn and Roman having to drop it in truly awful circumstances, THAT HiaC match, the Fiend winning AND losing it in Saudi, this title feels cursed, and certainly has a worse history than the WHC that it replaced. A bad title, with no good designs, *A* good run, and plenty of awful crammed into 8 years."

[3.0] "[2.7] It's bad when a title that's 8 years old has had exactly 3 tolerable reigns. In the early days of this belt, it was just absolutely cursed to have horrible champions or have something horrible happen to its holder. Finn had to vacate the belt immediately due to a shoulder injury, KO did a good job but was made to drop the belt in less than a minute to Goldberg, who then dropped to Lesnar who defended the belt, on average, once every 16 months. Roman had to vacate after a few months because of leukemia, so the belt goes back to Lesnar, who trades with Seth Rollins a few times until it goes to Bray Wyatt so that he too can job to Goldberg, then to Braun Strowman just in time for a global pandemic, back to Bray, and then into Roman's forever reign before he dropped to Cody. For reference, the title has been around for (as of day of writing) 2, 882 days, and for 72% of that time, it has been held by a part timer in some shape or form. Easily one of, if not the worst main world title in WWE's history."

I don't think Roman's reign really devalued it much, even when it just became another title on his shoulder. Especially now with the way Cody carries himself and how pretty much every title defence has been a top notch match, I'm starting to see its value more than ever. KO wins it, has some good matches but meh, gets squashed by Goldberg just so Brock can win it, then Brock defends it 7 times in 16 months. Fuck. Then Roman finally beats him and... cancer. Whoospie. So guess what the fuck? Back to Brock. Hot potato with Rollins, who loses it to the Fiend but only after successfully (? ) defending it in quite possibly the worst-received Hell in a Cell match ever. So Wyatt has it for a while only to... shit, get squashed by Goldberg again? And then freakin' Covid happens. Braun Strowman steps up because he's literally the only person in the building without a Wrestlemania match except for like, Oney Lorcan, and he does an OK job considering the totally uncharted landscape of wrestling in a pandemic. Then, of course, there's *the* Univeral Title reign. The Tribal Chief himself held that title for the entire (first) Bloodline storyline, from his first match back beating Strowman and Wyatt all the way to Philadelphia. It was a hell of a ride and really helped build some prestige back to the belt, with lots of very good (albeit infrequent) title defenses. During his reign he unified the title with the WWE Title and they replaced the two belts with a new belt, which is good because while the blue version of the Universal Title was kind of OK, the red version was absolutely terrible. Now the Universal Title seems redundant with the new World Heavyweight Championship (they really dug themselves in a hole unifying the two main titles huh? ) but apparently it's still its own thing even after Cody won. I guess we'll see where it goes but really at this point nobody is going to miss the Universal Title if it quietly gets dropped. Really there's just too much stigma and it reminds a lot of people (well, me, at least), of a pretty bad creative period for WWE for the first several years of its existence. If the belt for whatever reason disappeared before Roman won it the second time I'd give it a generous 1."

The title starts in the worst possible way with a lazy design and the champion getting injured right after winning the belt, the title goes right after KO (which makes for a decent reign), which was a good choice for champion, but then the title happens first big booking mess (of many) that this title would suffer, an elderly Goldberg winning the title to serve as a transition to a horrible 500-day reign of Brock Lesnar, where the champion barely defended and had very lazy matches (in addition to burying Strowman), soon after Roman becomes champion and shortly after he is diagnosed with leukemia, the title becomes vacant and Brock wins for another terrible reign (Strowman buried again), Seth wins the title and has a horrible feud against Corbin, Lesnar destroys MITB match and Seth vs. Fiend/Wyatt destroy the mystique of HIAC, and to make matters worse The fiend loses the title to the older Goldberg who drops it to Strowman as consolation for him having a horrible reign, the only good thing is Roman Tribal Chief's run in 2020/21, otherwise this title is a complete disaster. Recommended matches: KO vs. Roman (2017 and 2020), Fatal 4-Way (SummerSlam 2017), Seth vs. AJ (MITB 2019), and all of Roman's matches until WM 38 (especially vs. Bryan and Edge)"

It has had the nasty habit of people holding the belt and almost never defending it for eons (see Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns, though at least Roman's Reign has had a good storyline underneath it.), people who shouldn't be holding a "world" title at this point of their career (see Goldberg, and only Goldberg), and WWE digging themselves their own massive hole without any good way of climbing themselves out of it (see Bray Wyatt's title reign). At least now it has better booking behind it? But I feel like not even the current WWE likes this belt and are just finding some way to effectively retire it in the best way possible, as it has become absolutely forgotten about in it's combination with the WWE title and the introduction to the new Heavyweight title that is already miles better by design and booking alone with just it's first champion. Finn Balor got injured in the match he won the title in, Kevin Owens was treated like an absolute joke of a heel champion, Goldberg decided to politic his way to holding the title for a few days (HE DID IT TWICE by the way) just to drop it to Brock Lesnar who had a lackluster part-time reign as champion. I could go on and on about how this title is one of the worst in WWE history, but it wouldn't be worth my time. It's hard to say, but Roman's current title reign, which has gone on for a very long time, might be the best reign of this title. Soon, this title won't active anymore because it is merged with the WWE Championship, thankfully we won't have to hear about this title in a few years or *hopefully* months, but it will remain with a stained legacy due to horrible booking and worthless reigns."

First off giving Finn the belt was an amazing idea, sadly he was immediately injured, which led to Kevin Owens, another good pick. After two amazing wrestlers at their peak got their hands on the belt, WWE decided to then give it to Goldberg. What? Then Brock Lesnar, which credit where credit is due, Brock isn't a bad wrestler, just a lazy one, he barely showed up for his incredibly long reign. I guess WWE didn't learn their lesson because now they have Roman doing the same thing but the reign is 2x LONGER. Now the Universal Championship doesn't really exist because Roman just carries around one "Undisputed" Championship, and WWE introduced another world title since Roman barely wrestles anyway. This is genuinely really embarrassing."

Then, the name is ridicolous: so, If I win this I'm gonna be champion of Saturn, Venus, Mars, other galaxies, right? Finally, except for a couple of them, the reigns are obscene. Balor was cursed, KO was the classic coward heel, Goldberg needs no description, Lesnar was absent, Reigns face sucked, Rollins was the classic undefeatable babyface."

We saw an incredible reign by Roman Reigns, sucks that due to overbooking this title doesnt mean much now. Its a world championship in the biggest wrestling promotion after all. I get the hate, this title is been through a lot but only due bad booking. You can make a good story out of it and it will work much better than if the prize was a mid card title. Idk man thats just how i feel. The Fiend made my childhood, also the great reign by Seth Rollins."

Everything else about it is pretty laughable. The thing is kinda ugly with the Juan Chena Fruity Pebbles ass branded color scheming fucking baby sensory ass belt Yeah man lets put it on a blue strap because that doesnt look completely fucking stupid, and the actual belt design is completely unoriginal. I could care less about the design though, the real problem is the way the belt gets booked. From Kevin Owens dropping it to Goldberg for no reason, to brock holding it for 500 days for no reason, to Roman holding it for 32842i4932743298x days, To Bray's frustrating ass reign like Holy fuck what has this belt done right. I can talk about the current Roman period for days, but I feel like I already have like 3 times. All you need to know is that Roman should've dropped the belt to Cody at Mania 39, and they didn't do it, so they've shot themselves in the foot creatively where they either have Cody win the rumble again or get in that main event again some other way when the momentum wouldnt be the same, or just have someone else win it and have Cody never finish the story #lol #WBooking #WrittenInTheStars"

Nothing good has come from the existence of this title, including injuries, vacant reigns, the burial of a wrestler, and over pushing others at the expense of others. In my opinion, either they sack this title off or actually use it for good."

Bless him, I felt bad when Roman boi had the disease but at the end of the day he's just not great and this belt has been pure shizen since Goldberg who at this stage has decayed into Bronzeberg the ol' fart held the belt. Get rid"

Balor wins it and gets hurt, Owens wins it then loses it to 50 year old Goldberg in a squash match, who loses it to Lesnar for a year and a half long reign where he appears a few times a year, Roman wins it, gets hurt, Brock wins it back and plays hot potato with Seth over it until Seth loses it to The Fiend, who gets squashed by Goldberg, who loses it to Braun three years too late, who loses it to The Fiend for a 7 day title reign until he loses it to Roman, who has been champ for over three years now and has been appearing and defending it less and less the longer the reign goes on. Terrible."

The roman reign is starting to mean so little given it's never defended all while they make another sham title for Rollins. They refuse to build competition for these guys and book every champion like a chump. This belt has been represented by some really amazing talent, but the way it's treated when not on Lesnar or Reigns' waist is abysmal. Also the name is dumb as shit."

Now it's merged with the core WWE title and will probably end its lineage when Roman finally drops the belt. The name and design were always pretty stupid too. It won't be missed."

"Probably one of the worst world title in the history of pro wrestling. The generic red/blue design is trash-tier. The lineage of this title is full of terrible booking decision that hurt WWE a LOT : Kevin Owens being in the shadow of Jericho; the squash match against Goldberg; the Lesnar-Reigns feud at a time where both competitors had go-away heat; face Rollins and the debacle of Hell in a Cell against the Fiend; ANOTHER squash match with Goldberg that destroyed Wyatt's career; and finally, maybe the worst thing in the history of pro wrestling: Braun Strowman as world champ. A trully cursed title. Will not be missed"

WWE's world championship scene is a mess at the current moment with the fake World Heavyweight championship and Roman never defending these belts or having a clean match."

Kevin Owen's run was next and that was pretty solid untill he got squashed by Goldburg so Brock could have his first run with it for their Mania match. After that it became a useless title that is very unmemorable. 2 years later Seth and Brock hadda good Mania opener and that's all I can think of that belt untill Roman got it. But that brings us back to the original point. Where the actual hell is this title because I barely see it getting defended. I'm not saying every smackdown but cmon I think there should be more memorable moments for this world title and there isnt because it gets practically held hostage by all of its owners."
