[7.0] "Average Tournament..I'd say on average they are about a 7 out of 10. Some good matches with the best being Bailey vs Garcia and Bailey vs Bandido. Worst obviously Bailey vs Matthews but what can ya do. Good Tournament"
[8.0] "Some people are strangely hard on PWG's 2022 Battle Of Los Angeles, arguably the most prestigious tournament in independent wrestling, but personally I had a great time watching almost every match in the tournament and both shows. Most of the matches were of very good quality, the crowd was invested in each one and I thought the situation around Lio Rush's injury was handled quite well by the company. Great heel-work by Buddy Matthews on the second night as well. My three favourite matches of the tournament are: 1, Bailey vs Bandido (****1/2) - 2, Bailey vs Garcia (****1/4) - 3, Garcia vs Blackwood (****)"
[4.0] "I found this to be a pretty disappointing tournament, as it was mostly filled with a bunch of 'alright' matches and otherwise just a handful of low-level good matches, while all the biggest matches (the first night main-event, the semi-finals, and the finals) were very underwhelming considering their hype and card placement. My MOTT, rather randomly, was Taurus vs Aramis from the 2nd night (***1/4 - ***1/2), with Bailey vs Bandido from the 1st night -- while undoubtedly an overkill "epic" -- was likewise pretty good (***1/4 - ***1/2) and my 2nd favourite. Garcia is one of the new "indy darlings" on the scene, so his push here made sense, but I can't say I was at all a fan of it. His style and character just constantly clash in rather irreconcilable ways for me, with his otherwise nicely aggressive and scrappy offence being heavily undermined by his extremely desperate and forced "badass legit shooter" persona. A similar issue goes for the runner-up, Bailey, who is another newly hyped-up "indie darling" who has had thousands of overrated, so-called MOTYCs every month this year. He basically just gave the exact same mega-indy spotfest performances in every match he had (excluding his semi-final, which was more 'angle' than match), and it was therefore difficult to enjoy his matches when they were all so similar, and not just similar to each other, but similar to all his other matches this year as well. I still would have preferred Bailey as the winner, if only because he's all-around more convincing of a top-tier wrestler than Garcia (who looks more like a skinny and awkward rookie in his first few months of wrestling training). I wouldn't say there were actually any outright 'bad' matches in this tournament, but there were just so many severely bland and disappointing matches one after the other on both nights that it made this tournament quite a slog to get through, and not even the 'good' matches were the sort that could remotely save the tournament overall. Maybe my standards are too high, but I've seen tournaments with a far larger number of good, great, and even amazing matches, so I know it's possible, and if I have to compare this to those examples then I can only consider this tournament to be a relatively bad series of shows."
