I evaluate him as a wrestler just like Velvetine Dream or Matt Riddle. Joey Ryan has an excellent, well-developed gimmick. A memorable character. Incredible charisma. A flamboyant but charismatic lover of beautiful women. He wasn't ashamed to lose matches to female wrestlers; he showcased the women wrestlers in the best light (in every sense). He didn't humiliate women in his matches. Moreover, the women willingly agreed to work with him. His show with Candice LeRae reveals him as a kind and good-natured, funny old guy. Many of your favorite wrestlers shared the ring with him and enjoyed working with him. And let's not forget, he had a segment with the icon Hulk Hogan. Joey Ryan is a true innovator in-ring comedy. There's something of Joey Ryan in Joe Hendry. And yes, I want to say a huge thank you to Joey Ryan for pouring a water bottle on Scarlett Bordeaux's breasts and beautiful tummy in an intergender match. Note that Joey Ryan played the character of a lecherous, disgusting guy who mocks a fragile, defenseless girl. But Scarlett won that match. So, we were literally shown that good triumphs over evil, just like in many of Joey's matches. I also want to thank him for showing us a close-up of Christina Von Eerie displaying her aesthetic abs. I note that a beautiful stomach/abs are very important for a female wrestler. The "Joey and Candice" show was very helpful; it showed the sweet behind-the-scenes life of indie wrestlers. It's strange to even say that Joey Ryan conducts perverted, women-oppressing matches against the backdrop of praise for Ospreay, who sold his "coolness" by beating his own girl with his disgusting flips. Or the ovations for Sami Callihan, who did the same with Tessa Blanchard. Joey Ryan is a model man and alpha male. He radiates charisma and testosterone. And about his penis move--it's just funny, I don't see the tragedy in it."

Sadly, Joey could not stop riding on the momentum of his dick gimmick and kept doing it until the allegations against him...which makes me wonder if having other people (man and women) grabbing his dick was his own idea for character booking purposes...or for his own gratification. To make matters worse, he tried to use pathetic excuses to defend himself, and when it didn't worked and he couldn't even find a job because his stupid ass was already known for his dick gimmick and the allegations, he tried to sue the victims for 10 million for "ruining his career". Mich hat zwar sein Gimmick in keinster Weise gestört, jedoch konnte ich, damals wie heute, mit dem unsäglichen Intergender-Wrestling absolut nichts anfangen. Dort gehörte er ja im Indy-Bereich zu den Pionieren dieser heute leider überall verbreiteten Form des Wrestlings. Ich werde aus diesem Grund auch keine Bewertung vornehmen, da ich ihn eigentlich fast ausschließlich als Gimmick-Wrestler kennengelernt habe und von seinem Karrierebeginn kaum etwas gesehen habe. And while that comedy spot - which I admittedly found amusing initially - may have become far overplayed, if it was still getting good-paying bookings it's hard to fault his continued reliance on it. However, his career was largely derailed by the multitude of allegations made against him in the #SpeakingOut movement and the way in which he responded to them, and it seems unlikely that any reputable promotion will take the PR risk of utilizing him again anytime soon."

Generischer Indy-Wrestler #137, aber solange er abliefert, nimmt man das dann natürlich mit. Irgendwann muss ihm dann eingefallen sein, dass er doch mehr sein möchte und dann ging es sukzessive bergab. Dieses Gimmick als Dick-Wrestler ist als Party Gag unterhaltsam, aber das hat ja auch kein Niveau und so zeigt er über die Jahre nur noch Schrott und bietet nichts, was mich irgendwie interessiert. Auch sein Cancelculture-Gimmick bei Impact rettet da nichts. Dafür ist seine In-Ring- und Promo-Arbeit auch einfach nicht gut genug. Schlichtweg nur mies und mit dem anderen Gimmick halt auch astreiner Trash. Ungenügend im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes."

The sooner he's out of wrestling, the better."

[6.0] "Joey Ryan is the kind of guy you'd love to have in your company just based on looks alone. When he had his longer hair and he'd bust out the Hawaiian shirts, he just oozed cocky and sleazy. I loved it. But whenever he spoke, it was so, so bad. As long as you keep Joey away from a mic, he's a solid hand in the ring. You could almost say his work is boring at times. When he tags with Candice LeRae, he usually steps his game up. His early work in PWG was good and as he started to develop his sleazy character, he had a lot of great moments. However, it seems like he's just kind of been content with his current character and not changing it up. But if it keeps getting him booked, I can't fault him for it."
[6.0] "Joey Ryan is... okay. He's not a fantastic wrestler, but he's decent. What makes up for his lack of Wow factor technically is his absolutely over-the-top personality. I wasn't a big fan when I first saw him. He was with Candice and I thought she was the star of their team. He was annoying at best. However, he's grown on me as I've seen him more. Although his character is ridiculous, somehow, it works. He's a great comedy character and that earns him a few points he would otherwise not have. I thought his new gimmick focusing on his anatomy was a bit much, but seeing it in person, and watching a bunch of tough and talented guys like Mario Bokara sell it, I almost believed it. If he works with the right people, Joey is extremely fun to watch, and that is why I am giving him as high a rating as I am."

I like him in commentary more than I like him in the ring so it will be great to see him continue to feature on PWG commentary as his career continues to wind down."

WWE famously passed on him (for reasons so stupid, I'm too embarrassed to type them here), so maybe Global Force Wrestling could use his talents properly-for the world to see."

Es sorgt jedenfalls dafür, dass ich mich von Ryan, auch wenn er dabei keinen Klassiker im Ring abliefert, immer sehr gut unterhalten fühle."

Er kann aber auch genauso geile Comedy zeigen, wie zum Beispiel gegen Ares bei der PWG European Vacation II damals in Essen, einfach genial der Mann, 8 Punkte."
