[8.0] "At times can be vanilla, but other times you can tell this guy is loving his job. His work with Booker T is amazing, they are a perfect commentary pair. Booker goes off the rails sometimes and Vic knows exactly what to say to bring the focus back to the match and whatever is going on with the show."
[7.0] "Vic Joseph is a perfectly fine play by play guy that doesn't particularly excel in any specific area, but is firmly in the Michael Cole camp in that his appeal lies in the things he does not do. He has a good amount of energy & does everything a basic announcer is supposed to do. You'll never see this guy using a stupid catchphrase or a dumb unique vocal inflection to drag the attention off of talent & towards himself, & these days, I really appreciate that. He is by far my preferred dude between him & Booker."
[7.0] "Vic Joseph & Booker T might be my favourite commentary team at the moment, which I would never have believed if you told me that in 2017. Vic has been a really great play-by-play guy for Booker to play off of, and while he's no Michael Cole, let alone prime JR or Solie, he's been a great asset to NXT"
[6.0] "Vic does play-by-play well, albeit maybe a bit generic. He's a good part of NXT overall, but I can increasingly feel that he seems frustrated with his current situation. Personally I don't like he and Booker squabbling the entire show. It feels more antagonistic than it should, and more of that has been coming from Vic lately, correcting the smallest things like whether one wrestler ducking away from another should be called "creating separation" or "creating space". Admittedly, Booker - while a legend in the ring who I loved watching as a wrestler - doesn't give him much good to work with on commentary. But I feel like I'd need to see Vic's commentary persona with someone else to put him higher than this. He seems to have the potential to go up in the future."
[4.0] "Extremely generic and robotic style of commentary. I think he is one of the reason NXT is less good than it usually was. He tries to do well and being involved, I respect that, but he can't stop talking and I just really dislike his generic tone of voice."
[4.0] "He talks during broadcasts and calls matches. That's honestly the best way I can sum him up. He has an astonishingly bland, generic voice. Even when he's trying to convey emotions he sounds robotic. You can tell he was trained during the Vince era because his personality doesn't exist. He's not incompetent but he's nothing special either."
[7.0] "Underrated commentator. Shame he doesn't have a commentary role on the main roster but moving it down to 2 commentators and needing a spot for MacAfee took away his spot. He has the passion for the product and good energy which is important as the commentator. He is nothing legendary but a very good commentator."
[9.0] "Probably the most underrated commentator in wrestling right now. He has done such a great job wherever he is on tv, whether it be his main role in nxt, or being thrown in as a substitute for raw or smackdown. He brings a fun young energy that not a lot of others can"
[4.0] "Joseph feels like he's been concocted in a lab in one of WWE's Performances Centers, since he's perfect for the job of robotically regurgitating whatever message or story that WWE wish to push in whatever match/segment he's commentating over. I definitely understand the comparisons to Michael Cole, but I think a far more apt comparison is to ex-WWE and ex-TNA announcer Josh Matthews, since Joseph shares Matthews' approach of trying to impersonate the most generic "broadcaster" voice ever by clearly deepening his voice and enunciating words with random, unnatural inflections almost in an attempt to sound 'intelligent' and 'professional'. There's also the fact that his exclamations of 'excitement' and 'shock' are always at the exact same level of intensity and thus never carry any real emotions. He's not outright awful like Mauro was, but I will say he's painfully dull and can easily suck a lot of life out of an otherwise exciting match."
[5.0] "Sigh. Another commentator who graduated from Michael Cole's school of commentary. I'll give him a small bit of credit. Out of all the robotic sounding announcers (Saxton, Phillips) Vic is easily the most tolerable but he still has the same faux emotion and enthusiasm. I wasn't even a big Mauro fan, but NXT has lost a lot of energy on the booth since his departure. Edit: He was pretty good with Wade, I'll give him an extra point."
[4.0] "Yeah, I just realized that this guy has a Cagematch profile. He is pretty much the discount Tom Phillps. he is perfectly average at his job. Although he is better than Jimmy Smith and Admerk Virk. I'll bet if WWE rehired Alex Riley he could replace Vic Joseph and half the fans wouldn't even notice."
[2.0] "He's just another empty vessel that Vince (or someone else) can scream at during the broadcasts to parrot whatever the company line is. I don't necessarily blame him, but WWE announcers really can't be good under the circumstances they work in."
[7.0] "He's about as good as the other Michael Cole Clone Tom Phillips. I don't know how knowledgeable he is about wrestling but he seems to like it, kinda has that fake-ish enthusiasm like Cole & Phillips but he's a bit more convincing."
[9.0] "Vic Joseph is the best play-by-play guy in WWE right now, and it's not even close. And honestly before Mauro left he was still a very, very close second. Vic manages to make the structured, formulaic WWE announcer protocol sound completely natural and works it into his commentary wonderfully. He seems like a genuinely likable guy which helps build his rapport with his color commentators. Vic's character is treated a lot like early Tom Phillips, the kinda nerdy guy who the color guys would occasionally pick on, but the difference is Vic gives just as good as he gets with guys like McGuinness and Barrett, and that banter elevates the commentary even more. I really hope that Vic is eventually chosen as the replacement for Michael Cole as "The Voice of WWE" much like how Cole replaced JR. He really deserves it and at just 35 years old he's got a long, bright future ahead of him wherever he winds up."
[10.0] "I'm rather surprised to see that Vic has no ratings or comments. I think he is easily one of the best commentators in the company right now (definitely Top 2 or 3). I truly hope that someday he'll move from 205 Live to replace the weak links on RAW (Michael Cole), SmackDown (Byron Saxton), or NXT (Percy Watson). Everything he says sounds very authentic and he isn't annoying which is a rare trait among commentators nowadays."
