| 17 | 10.07.2025 | PapaGus | 10.0 | Penta's success from a mexican Lucha Libre fan perspective. The "Pentagon" character originated in the late 90s, originally destined to be Octagon's archenemy. The first version of Pentagon (Andrade's uncle) was a partial success, until suffering a life threatening injury that almost forced him to retire. Then the second Pentagon existed in late 90s - early 00s, under the name "Pentagon Black", who was overall fine but had noticeably less success than its predecessor. Then "Pentagon III" was created in the mid 2000s, who practically passed without pain or glory in the mexican indies until losing to Octagon in a Mask vs Mask match without much more to add. Just like every other Pentagon, some minor versions of the character existed between the main 3, again, without making much of an impact in history. So, notice a pattern here? In reality, the PENTAGON character never meant much in the Lucha Libre scene, being limited to be a jobber character who would barely get any crowd reactions and would always stay in the shadows of Octagon. THAT, UNTIL "PENTAGON JR." MADE HIS DEBUT. A man wanting to succeed, to stand out, to reinvent himself and the character without losing its essence. Someone who had no fear, zero fear, CERO MIEDO. And, needless to say, that man totally delivered on that part. More than a decade ago, who would have thought that the PENTAGON character would be an international success some day? NOBODY, but PENTA made the impossible possible and deserves all his roses for that. |
