[7.0] "Kind of a baffling score to me that seems to be entirely based on his run as a jobber on AEW TV, when in reality, Slim J has been one of the most consistent independent wrestlers in the United States for the last 20 years."

[9.0] "Cagematch does not know ball. Slim J is consistently amazing. From early roh to the midwest matches vs Fred Yehi in the 2010s to just randomly having dope matches on Dark in the 2020s. He's just a wrestler that feels endlessly watchable. The type of guy that while I get not loving, I can't imagine disliking. It's some bs that I have to write 500 characters to leave a good rating for the man. Has also coached a lot of cool folks like Irving West so even outside of his matches he's left a positive impact on the graps"

[8.0] "Everyone seems to be stuck on his character which is a sincere extension of himself. He can't really change that. Ive seen his first matches sitting front row at the Landmark Arena until now. How do you rate him? By exposure? Gimmick? Wrestling wise there's nothing Slim can't do. I've seen him make the worst look like a million bucks. An endless repertoire of various styles. Slim J is a solid 8-9."

[7.0] "It was a toss up between a 6 and 7... with some more TV time it probably would've been the latter. But I definitely think that a 4.17 average is horseshit. I've seen Slim do some amazing moves suitable for someone their size.. the gimmick right now is a little corny, but I'm digging the pairing with the Trustbusters right now.. I also wish they would get some more action."

[5.0] "Slim J is a decent wrestler, but the gimmick really brings down his average. He's the perfect guy to put over a top solos face though. I'd be more into him if they gave him a better character to work with, something that matches his style."

[7.0] "I initially wasn't about Slim J, it was the clothes I'll admit. But after watching this dude work I am coming around on him for sure. He has incredible stamina and actually pulls off some consistently impressive moves. He can REALLY sell a hit, even when it's a comedic sell it somehow works. He also has great tag team sense, he is great on the ground, grappling is usually solid and he doesn't let his opponents overwhelm him. His legs are deadly too. He can swing, kick, high fly, all of that. I wish he could evolve beyond the Trustbusters because he works hard."

[9.0] "What's crazy is that Slim J - who was regarded highly among fans of that style at the time - was almost erased from history when he went back to Georgia and dropped out of the big time limelight. Unlike a guy like Jimmy Rave, or even Tank, who worked elsewhere and are part of the wrestling memory of the places they worked outside of the South, Slim J is a guy who I NEVER hear mentioned when people talk about the early indie boom of nutty high flyers and crazy flippy dudes who were desperate to catch a break."

[6.0] "How is this guys rating so low, he is so fun to watch in the ring with all the innovative moves he does. I do admit his gimmick is a little cringeworthy though"

[7.0] "Slim J has a gimmick capsuled in a specific time period, a crazy as hell finisher, and a very nice spot currently on the AEW/ROH card, paired with Ariya Daivari and Parker Bordeaux. Known for his work in NWA Wildside and NWA-TNA work early on, and mostly considered a darkhorse until gaining back some spotlight being signed to Tony Khan's era of Ring of Honor. It's crazy how I never heard of this guy until his recent appearances, but he's certainly an underrated wrestler with a lot great aspects to him."

[6.0] "He's alright. Decent wrestler with a stupid look, but not bad in the ring at all. Decent tag team worker."

[2.0] "Oh god, I saw him today after years. I saw him in TNA and he was one of the worst gimmicks I've ever seen. He was probably young, EXCEPT he has the same gimmick in 2022. That crotch thing was cringe in 2002 and it's outdately cringe in 2022. He can be used as a jobber tho because he can be hated and can make people look good"

[8.0] "This rating is absurd. Even if you're basing it solely off his ROH stuff, a 3 is ridiculous. This man is a pioneer of modern southern indies and has been one of the most consistent wrestlers in that part of the country for two decades. It sucks more people aren't aware of how good he is and that a bunch of ignorant German guys from 15 years ago are dictating his rating on this site. Any of his matches for Scenic City or ACTION are worth viewing. Let's get his number higher."

[9.0] "There's no real justification for this rating unless you want to hold a fifteen year-old picking a silly gimmick against him for twenty years. Like what, he had a meh TNA run when he was literally seventeen? But if you look at his actual body of work, he's a great brawler, a great mat wrestler, a great flyer, and even a good power wrestler. And he's done it for twenty years without ever looking like he's gonna slow down! A true indie legend."

[8.0] "Very Talented, has many awesome moves, not really a good gimmick or good on the mic, but he's basically Teddy Hart Lite. His matches are always Entertaining, suprised he never went to the big indy leagues, but hey maybe he'll get big break at the next Janela Show."

[9.0] "Like the other comment on this page mentioned, it really does surprise me that this guy is rated so low. I've seen him wrestle several times and been nothing but entertained. His gimmick may not be the best in the world, but he seems to have charisma and his in-ring ability is way above par. He puts on great matches with guys that sometimes don't have great matches. The website says he's been doing it for like 15 years and I'm honestly surprised he hasn't risen up the ranks in somewhere like ROH or PWG. He seems plenty good to me. Hopefully he'll get a break someday."

I've seen him in action and he's a fast-paced, smash-mouth, charismatic (he's actually not a bad rapper), and capable of unique, never-before-seen maneuvers. He's still young. He deserves a shot at the big time. Hopefully someone will give it to him."
