[9.0] "If I could write a review that was just "Hechicero" with 90+ "O"s at the end of it, I might. I have this suspicion that there's even more to Hechicero than I could know from his time in AEW and his 7.5/10 weighted average of his singles matches. I love him, his presentation, his bizarre fluidity in wrapping his opponents up in holds I've never seen or that I've seen a thousand times. I don't remember him speaking a word of English on camera but his in ring interactions with his allies and the crowd are wonderfully charming. 9/10, but I'm sure I could bump that to a 10 if I watched a half dozen good matches of his in NJPW and CMLL"

[6.0] "I don't really get Hechicero, but to be honest, I don't really get Zach Sabre Jr either. Both wrestle an extremely technical style that frequently just makes the matches dull unless the opponent can also go hold for hold. Guys like Danielson or Kyle O'Reilly can be very technical, but they intersperse it with more dynamic moves that keep you guessing. Also, I feel like Hechicero needs to lean harder into being mystical, or drop the spooky hand gestures he does during his entrances."

"Hechicero approaches movement as a problem of leverage rather than decoration. His most compelling sequences begin with an ordinary point of contact--a wrist, shoulder, ankle, or shifted hip--and gradually reveal that the initial position contained several possible traps. The transitions feel inventive because they are rooted in physical relationships the audience can still observe. Even when the configuration becomes complicated, one can usually identify what is being controlled and why escape remains difficult. This is essential. Complexity without visible purpose becomes exhibition. Hechicero's work generally avoids that failure. The limitation is emotional transparency. His technical authority is obvious, but the internal change produced by resistance can be understated to the point of disappearance. A match benefits when the audience can see not only that a solution failed but how that failure altered his confidence. Still, the craft is exceptional. He makes the human body appear like a machine with several undocumented hinges. By the time the opponent recognizes which part is compromised, the rest of the structure has already begun to collapse around it."

[10.0] "When it comes to who is the best pro wrestler in the world right now in 2026 in terms of pure technical wrestling, it's a tie between Zack Sabre Jr. and Hechicero. While ZSJ obviously uses a more British-influenced, World of Sport catch style, Hechicero is pure old-school llave, and there are few things more enjoyable to watch in pro wrestling than an expert in the llave style work his craft. This man must know every permutation of every submission hold physically possible, and how to transition from any one of them into any other one with ruthless efficiency while still maintaining crowd engagement. It's like watching Magnus Carlsen play chess. There's some kind of natural intuition that always allows Hechicero's brain to know exactly the right next step or two (or ten) to make a match as good as it can be. To be clear, he's still a luchador, so despite how efficiently he wrestles it all comes with a certain flair, and he can also work a very fast pace when he needs to. This uncanny level of adaptability results in a natural chemistry with goddamn near everyone he ever shares a ring with. This man just doesn't have bad matches. He's also got a really great look and gimmick that makes him stand out from his peers, and Don Callis is currently the perfect mouthpiece for him. Hechicero has got to be in his mid-40s by now and clearly he ages like fine wine. I wouldn't be surprised if he's still putting on the same caliber of matches ten years from now."

[10.0] "Technical wrestling is not always my favourite, and It might be a very unpopular take, but this guy is the best technical wrestler i've ever watched. His moveset is extremely versatile and he can do all that with tight precision."

I wish Tony Khan didn't put him in the Don Callis Family so he would face Kazuchika Okada for the International Championship. The way he is able to put people in submission hold is mind blowing."

A headliner of Arena Mexico! While CMLL is the home he will stay, he isnt worried about going sleep overs in AEW, MLW, REVPRO, NJPW & even the OG & AEW/ROH wrestling. But calling Hideo Itami (Kenta Hoshino) the best technical wrestler ever based on those 10-15 matches is huge praise--his precision and intensity are unreal. What is it about Hoshino's style that puts him at the top for you over legends like Bryan or ZSJ? Any specific matches of his that sealed the deal? And since you're big on technical wrestling, got any other under-the-radar faves in that style?"

[10.0] "One of the best technical luchadors and wrestlers right now. One of the reasons I've actually gotten invested in lucha libre outside of the incredible athleticism that most luchadors are capable of (Mistico, Mascara Dorada etc). This man has submissions that look nearly impossible, and a smoothness to everything he does, like his step-up knee strike or his ways of transitioning into his signature moves, especially his transitions into El Conjura. I look forward to seeing him anytime he's booked in singles or tag bouts because I know I'll be in for some masterful technicality, rivalled only by a Zack Sabre Jr or a Bryan Danielson."

[9.0] "Probably my favorite guy from CMLL, just think he's so good that even his "mediocre" matches are so fun to watch. He really embodies charisma and pulls off a character that should kinda stink. He has terrific creative offense, and he's a bright spot on any card he's featured on. Really really good speaker too, and he's had good matches all over the world."

[9.0] "After so many years watching all types of wrestling I thought that all the moves were already created and this guy appears and suddenly he uses 10 totally new ones, this guy is great, a spectacular technician and has an interesting gimmick, if you know Spanish you will see what he has a great charisma but in the United States he will not be able to demonstrate it due to the language barrier, I hope AEW calls him more times."

[9.0] "Hechicero is one of the best and most exciting technical wrestlers in the entire world. He is able to so fluidly and expertly fuse two styles that always seem to be opposites and contradictive into something so unique and so exciting to watch. His match with Bryan Danielson was one of the most exiciting and best AEW television matches I think ever, and he is somebody I really want to see more of in the bigger promotions to show off his skills. For now, I only ever see in CMLL shows or co-branded shows, and I would love for him to have a long run in somewhere like a New Japan against the likes of DOUKI and Desperado and other Jr. Heavyweights. Or heck have him go up against the larger guys and go on a great run in the Never Open picture. Would be very exciting."

[10.0] "One of the best in-ring workers in the world today, he'd surely be in my top 5 minimum there. Every time I see him wrestle live I'm seeing something new or exciting. Seemingly can have a great match with just about anyone and anchored the 91 Anniversario mask match which is one of the best bouts of 2024."

[9.0] "He is the perfect example that you can carry the old and new style of Lucha Libre, a spectacular technical wrestler with good aerial movements and has a few "own" techniques that make him stand out, due to his weight he is very agile, charismatic and He has that aura of a masked wrestler that no one knows but you want to see fight, I don't know his level of English in order to be more mainstream with the more casual audience but it is still interesting."

[10.0] "Quite possibly the second greatest wrestler to ever come out of Nuevo Leon, and the only reason he is not the first is that the man above him is one of the most legendary men in the entire history of this sport. A certain wrestler likes to say he went from undesirable to undeniable, but Hechicero should be the real owner of that quote as this year he has gone from being taken for granted in CMLL to being given some of the biggest chances any wrestler can get including an Aniversario Apuestas match. Whenever Hechicero has a match, you know he will put his most into it and do his best to get a good match out of whoever he is wrestling. He is simply one of the best ever."

He has provided a lot of the best matches in CMLL of 2022, I did not know he was before then, but now I know who he is, he is one of the most enjoyable acts in all of CMLL."

[8.0] "In my opinion Hechicero's greatest asset is not so much his in-ring skill, as great as it is, but how amazingly varied his arsenal his. Besides being extremely adept at improvisation, he seems to have an almost encyclopedic knowledge of holds: I've seen him do stuff only very original workers like Super Muñeco have done before. It's almost scary how he can pull moves out of a hat to vary his moveset from one match to the next: it's a good thing CMLL picked him up but he really needs more international exposure, especially in singles matches."
