[0.0] "When the only positive aspect of his game is the fact that he is tall, it's not very surprising that his career did not last."

[1.0] "I do have distinct memories of watching Season 2 of the original game show NXT, a dreadful show to be sure, and even then as a less-developed wrestling fan, it was pretty clear that Eli was kind of awful. The remains true, these years later. His moustache promo is infamously terrible, and it lives down to the reputation. Worse still, most of his talking segments are pretty bad, as he is entirely unconvincing as the, I guess, big weird psycho giant he's supposed to be playing. He also doesn't look especially intimidating - strange, yes, but in a way that's more off-putting than engaging, and he has the lanky basketball player physique of a Kevin Nash or Giant Gonzales that requires good charisma and good booking to make severe. He had neither, and he had no in-ring skills either, being a slow, clumsy, paint by numbers giant with perhaps one sort of good move in his, I think, reverse chokeslam? You know, the one Braun Strowman did for a bit and then had to stop because he was killing people. Really, Cottonwood will always be remembered for one of the all-time terrible promos - but he was at least part of a very important one. He was the looming, ominous heavy for the first ever Bray Wyatt promo, and that? That's actually pretty rad. Rest in Peace."

[2.0] "Hey, I've seen worse. At least he never injured guys like Khali, Goldberg or Ultimate Warrior. He was never showed down people's throats like Jeff Jarrett or Hulk Hogan. He never really made many botches and was there and gone almost immediately. Probably starting at 35 wasn't the best also. DDP made it work, but only because Page could speak like a diamond (pun fully intended)"

[1.0] "All Eli had was size and some basic skills in the ring. He did not progress at all and his career ended after only a couple of years. Probably the only thing he is still remembered for is the legendary mustache promo."

[0.0] "When I came across his name here, I legit started laughing out loud. Hey... he gave us the "mustache" promo, so there's that."

[1.0] "What is a bad wrestler? Well, it's one who isn't exactly all that good. Nobody is one besides Eli Cottonwood. By the end of the week, we'll have Eli Cottonwood be one of the worst wrestlers out there. God, what is there to say about this guy? He had this strange look. His attire made it look like he was some business guy without a shirt, and he looks like he hasn't shaved in 16 weeks. His in ring work is really... bad."

[1.0] "I feel bad for this guy. Rather than continuing his career in basketball he chose to sign with wwe and involved in their seemingly idiot imagination of an indestructible monster. I don't really know how his career in basketball ended but I think choosing career as pro wrestler who received negative feedback and had nothing so real to prove made me disgusted. Very slow in the ring, used only as a finisher guy, and his seemingly unstoppable gigantic figure hoping to scare crowds and show them the best heel in FCW. Holy moley. I hope this guy knows that if he reads my comment, I'm not a 'very sarcastic' guy but just a man who was mad about a wrestler who rose to superstardom without nothing to prove. Even beating Low Ki, man this is besmirching. Then he quits wwe like nothing happened and seemingly retired. I hope there are no other bad marks in wwe like him anymore, which prevents me to watch the show of youngsters to avoid meeting someone like him, wrestling very awful in many shows."

[1.0] "With size being about the only thing going for him, it's not too surprising Cottonwood never made it further than that season of NXT. However, he did leave us one lasting legacy: the classic "Mustache" promo."
