[9.0] "People say he's a modern day Sting? He's more of a modern day Mick Foley. The bumps this guy takes literally every single time he's in the ring is nothing but brutal. Darby is also a really good wrestler and the crowd loves him. Wish he would save the bumps for PPV's or just limits the amount of crazy bumps he does. I still love Darby, but I'm afraid he won't be able to walk by the time he reaches 40"

[10.0] "Darby Allin is a wrestler I was skeptical of when I first saw, but quickly won me over with his performances. Darby is easily the best seller in wrestling today, making every match feel like a hard-fought, brutal war, even when no weapons are involved. His style is so realistic and unlike any other wrestler out there; he comes across as a wounded animal fighting for its life, where everything he does is a painful struggle. Even on offense, Darby often has an anguished look on his face, or climbs the ropes while holding his back. In a day and age where no-selling is rampant and wrestling often feels too choregraphed, Darby is a wrestler who makes everything look real again. I also can't leave out his unique bumping style where every move he takes looks insanely painful. I'm not sure if there's a secret to his technique or if the bumps just really are that painful. Psychology-wise, he wrestles exactly like someone his size should, and I never see him do anything his character shouldn't do."
[4.0] "Since Darby has returned in 2025, he's done the same thing and it's boring. Pre wrestledream it was great but now it feels just dragged. He made moxley quit, beat the death riders in blood and guts, cuts the same promo about how he loves AEW and he's desperate beat...PAC...? He does too much in his matches as well and he won't make it much more if he continues doing these kinds of things. Not a wrestler for me."

"[9/10] Seemingly contemporary society's answer to Spike Dudley, Darby Allin is a believable, sincere babyface whom is easy to root for, is able to work the crowd like putty, & is able to withstand bumps that truly are on that wild, captivating Spike Dudley level. He is able to work with seemingly anybody, from AEW's smaller, technical guys to their larger behemoths, the later of which often make for PPV-changing matchups that I <<Always>> go out of my way to stop looking at my phone for. Spike Dudley turned out fine physically after his tenure, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the future will be kind to Darby."

Better than perhaps anyone at wrestling the right style for his size, always throwing his whole body at his opponent and with as much velocity as possible. Perfect underdog against any opponent because of the bumps he can take. And he's an underrated technician because people only remember the big bumps. Really a well rounded great in-ring worker while also one of the most iconic and unique characters at the moment."

But I still think he has issues with his character. The guy's over 30 years old, and in Blood and Guts he's still acting like a 14-year-old teen obsessed with his skateboard. The same problem exists with Cassidy. They've been the same as they were 5 years ago. And that's a problem."

Since 2019, he's been an AEW mainstay and has shown steady improvement year by year, as he inches closer to the main event scene of the company. His 2025 feud with Jon Moxley has resulted in some uncomfortable matches, which has been the intention from the start, while also elevating Darby each time he outlasts Moxley."

On top of everything, he has a great understanding of ring psychology, and he knows how to move and act like any other renowned wrestler. He's always fun to watch, and you always have to wait and see what other crazy thing he'll come up with next."

His promos are hit and miss but overall I'd say he's pretty good at them. Darby is a special, one of a kind wrestler."

CONCLUSION: Situational talent that can drag down classics or make diamonds out of coal. Watch him if you enjoy chaotic, fast-paced work."

Whenever I first saw Darby I thought he was and awesome daredevil and I haven't stopped enjoying him yet. He is definitely a future world champion in my opinion. I also thought it was cool when he wrestled in Stings retirement, broke his foot, got hit by a bus, and then proceeded to wrestle in Anarchy in the Arena and Blood and Guts all in the span of a couple months. Freak of nature and one of my personal favorites in AEW, hopefully a future world champion."

His reckless style isn't just for show--he makes you feel every bump and dive, and that emotional connection is rare. He has this raw authenticity that draws fans in, even if he's not the most polished technical wrestler or promo. Some might criticize the risks he takes, and honestly, they're not wrong--he flirts with injury way too often. But that's part of the Darby experience: chaotic, real, and impossible to ignore. Not perfect, but undeniably impactful."

That being said, Darby Allin is an idiot. The man does high risk moves that could end careers on a monthly basis whe he doesn't need to because he's already over. At this rate, his wrestling career will not last much longer and he'll be forced to retire. All around, he's one of the best babyfaces and stars of AEW but he's an absolute idiot."
wrestlingswiftie wrote on 21.04.2025:
[9.0] "The best out of AEW's iteration of the four pillars, and probably the best wrestler in that company now that Danielson is retired. With that being said, his promos are at their best when he's paired up with someone who can really BRING it out in him, ya' know? (Sting, MJF.) But, unlike his promo ability, he doesn't need to be treated with charity in that ring. He can work a clean and technical style, to people's surprise, as he showed in Full Gear 2021. But, everyone knows him for his trademark reckless style -- which I love. I just think he needs to tone it down a bit, for the sake of his young life and career! Oh, and also... his size. Now, I personally don't mind it, because I actually think it fits his character. But man, does it take you out of his matches! Especially when he's in there with a big guy."

Absolute master of the little things. The Jeff Hardy comparisons are shortsighted and make no sense beyond them both jumping off of high stuff, which tons of wrestlers do, Darby works circles around Jeff."

[3.0] "I find him highly overrated. People compare him to Jeff Hardy and I can understand it to a certain extend because both have unique looks and are known for high risk moves. But the difference is that Jeff was not just a "stunt guy" and had damn good matches without any of that, and made it believable that he could beat bigger guys. Darby on the other hand is just a stuntman who still would be on the indy's if AEW didn't exist who allows him to do these death-defying spots on the regular. The fact is, that without these spots, all what's left is a below average wrestler with bad mic-skills and a very slim frame that wouldn't make me believe for a second that he could beat 90+% of the roster, let alone play a big role on these shows. On one hand it's somewhat admirable that he has the guts to do these crazy spots, but I find it very concerning that people would let him do these things on the regular and risk something horrific to happen that could also backfire on the company. I can't see him having a long career and god knows how wrecked his body will be when he retires. The only thing I liked from his run so far was the pairing with Sting which was pretty cool. But I hope that the industry moves on from stuntman and stops giving young talents the idea that you have to do this crazy stuff in order to get over, which already created too many tragedies in the 90s and 00s."

Half the time, he's just taking insane bumps, which is cool and all, but that'll put his body more and more at risk and this could land him in a wheelchair by the age fifty. And TK allows him to do stupid and reckless stunts. He needs to be protected more, and I could see him as a future world champion. Hot take, but he's gotten over with the fans, he has the potential if he can get these problems fixed."

When I first watched Aew for the first time I wasn't familiar with most of the roater only recognizing the ex "wwe" guys and Darby is the first Aew original that caught my eye Tony schiovanne and Taz would put over how unique he was and how "relentless" he was which I thought was too cliche and over stated at the time but over time I finally get it now Darby is a special talent and the only factor that prevents me from giving him a 10 is the fact that he's been dancing in the same spot for a while and I'll give him a 10 when he eventually fulfills his destiny and becomes Aew world champion."

[9.0] "Darby Allin may not look like your average wrestler. I mean the man wont even weigh 200 pounds soaking wet. Dont let that fool you. A high flying risk taker, Darby puts his heart, body (literally), and soul into everything he does. Fearless. Rebellious. A true underdog. One of the best sellers in the game. I truly admire the sacrifices he makes when he steps in that ring. Watching Darby wrestle is like being in an emotional rollercoaster. Things that go through your mind during a Darby match: Is he dead? Hes not going to jump that high is he? How is he still standing? Holy shit, he just lit Jack Perry on Fire! . The man is unpredictable. Very solid on the mic, and when hes paired with someone 10 times bigger than him, prepare to see a slaughter. Can really make anybody look good. The pairing of Sting and Darby Allin was something that just felt right. They were absolutely perfect for each other and this pairing really helped Sting maintain relevance and purpose. When you fuse Sting and Jeff Hardy (ironic, right? ) with a dash of Flock Raven, you get Darby. He has the tools to become the face of any company you put him in. Great presentation, oozes coolness, and is exciting to watch in the ring. He can fly, he can be technical, and without a doubt he can be hardcore. Another thing that stands out to me is that he films his own vignettes. He went to film school prior to wrestling and that knowledge really helped him elevate the way he presents himself. Out of the other 4 Pillars of AEW, I feel like Darby is the most unique and exciting. When Sting retired, he stated that Darby is the greatest tag team partner hes ever had. That speaks volumes. He doesnt have a gimmick, he is the gimmick. He lives it 100%. When he skates past you, get out the way. Or he might just whack you with the skateboard."

We think directly of MJF when we think of the one who has succeeded the best in the 4 pillars of AEW and often the other 3 do not yet see them as main eventers. This was true for a while but I think Darby is doing the best and is gradually making his way into the main event. He has a very strong charisma and a wrestling style that is certainly risky but which absolutely does not leave you indifferent. I deeply believe in his potential as world champion one day."

[4.0] "Whether you love him or hate him, there's just something special about Darby. I know it's a bit of a meme to call him the Jeff Hardy of this generation, but in my opinion that's what he really is. My biggest issue with Darby and the reason as to why I've rated him so low is because of his overabundance of death-defying moves. He has gone on record to say he knows how to do them safely, which is great and all... but I think he's doing some real mental gymnastics if he thinks this won't eventually lead to a horrific injury. At the rate he's going, I would be very, very surprised if he's able to walk when he's in his mid 40s. I understand the kind of wrestler he is, and it's honestly refreshing to see somebody like him, but there's absolutely a time and place to do things. Just because you're able to do something, doesn't mean you should, especially on a weekly basis. His run with Sting was great, it'll probably go down, aside from the crazy stuff he puts his body through, as the career defining moment in his career. But, man... eventually something will happen and it's not going to be good. Lastly, the guy is pretty bad on the mic so best if he rarely gets the opportunity to talk. But yeah, low raiting because he doesn't know how and when to reel himself in, thinking he'll be ok in the future when he clearly won't be, can't give somebody too high of a raiting when they're willingly doing crazy stuff on a weekly basis like that."

[4.0] "This kid is a perfect example of "when Darwin Awards are applicable in wrestling". Darby is a wannabe daredevil who wants to defy the laws of physics to check how much his body he can handle with so much pain. I am worried that he may possibly be paralytic before he hits 40. It's sad that the fans are delighted and excited to see him doing all of this crazy stunts. Without the stunts, the spots, Darby is just nothing but mediocre. How can we believe that someone that size could beat the likes of Brock Lesnar or Wardlow. Also, his emo gothic gimmick is way overused in wrestling. The only time he is useful so far in AEW is being Sting's tag team partner as Sting couldn't do nasty bumps at his age and Darby would do most of the work. No doubt the way he connects to the crowd is somewhat sympathetic due to his background but whatever schtick that his kid might do, even if he dares to die himself, the fans would always mark out of it and he will keep on continuing it. I really hope Darby might to rethink for his career or else his body would take a toll badly at the end."

[8.0] "Well, he's different. He cuts his own promos because no one can speak for him. His gimmick seems to be that he's not afraid of pain and death because he's already 'half-dead', hence his face paint and the reckless high risk spots he does in AEW on a regular basis. While I'm not a big fan of the dangerous high risk moves that he's known for, I can respect that he's so over in AEW partially because of it. The sad part is he can actually wrestle and probably doesn't need to take these crazy risks all the time, or at least he can tone them down and still be a draw. Recently he performed a stunt that tops everything Jeff Hardy has done in terms of sheer insanity, the stunt he performed recently against the Young Bucks where he jumped from inside the ring off a ladder into glass and steel chairs was not only unnecessary and could have paralyzed him but it made no sense narratively when it was obvious he would be the only target of the fall. It's like if I were to jump off the top of a steel cage onto a poorly cushioned concrete with no one to land on except dangerous objects."

He's got a great physical charisma about him, and shows a genuine passion for the business in wanting to improve on the microphone or even in the ring constantly. There's never been a single match of Darby's where he just doesn't try or phones it in, he gives it his all every single time and always gives something to remember. None of his spots are even shortening his career, he's discussed repeatedly how he's completely fine afterwards. He's a very selfless wrestler though, obviously caring about AEW but also making sure his opponents look like the strongest men on earth while also simultaneously keeping his own aura & believability as a competitor. His selling & psychology is amazing and needs to be analyzed for generations, such a in-ring genius at such a young age. If he does unfortunately loses his life at Everest, I hope people remember him as a legend despite him being seen for only four years on television."

[7.0] "The worst thing about Darby is his complacency. You can't tell me that a daredevil kid with an edgy half-skeleton look and a natural appeal to both young boys and girls with his 'edgy' look, as well as to adults with his unique and reckless wrestling performances, isn't the PERFECT blueprint for making a star. He truly is one of the most unique wrestlers around, given his consistent dedication to hurling himself at his opponent in purely spectacular daredevil fashion. That's what allows him to resemble a genuine threat to larger opponents despite his small size, since he's crazy but intelligent and creative enough to turn his body itself, with its insane durability, into a weapon. Darby is also a very compelling babyface, capable of drawing a great amount of sympathy and showing great fire as he attempts to survive brutal beatdowns and then scratches and claws to fight back. Darby basically sounds like the whole package then, right? And after 4 years of AEW's existence, Darby should be front and centre as one of their top stars by now; instead, AEW continue to waste him, only ever allowing him to somewhat shine in the most forgettable matches ever. They also randomly stuck him with Sting, probably with the initial excuse of how that would give him a meaningful 'rub' (as if Darby wasn't already strongly liked by the fanbase), Well, it's now 2 years later, and Darby and Sting still haven't developed their relationship or their individual characters whatsoever from their time together. Darby has instead acted as Sting's 'carer' while Sting has gone through this late-life crisis of his, taking all those dangerous bumps in all their many hardcore matches. If Darby had any ego then he'd protest this blatant mishandling of his character, but sadly, Darby just loves wrestling for wrestling's sake, and isn't at all concerned with being pushed as a star or a 'protagonist'. Maybe he actively dislikes the responsibility such a push would entail. Well, if I was Tony Khan, I would sit Darby down and say: "Look, I know you're an odd guy, and wrestling is more a 'creative outlet' for your rather than a long-term career, but I'd still like to offer you a bunch of money to make you a star and profit off of you. Please let me know if you'd like time off for your random side-projects, like climbing Mount Everest or whatever, because I promise we can allow for that, as long as you let me make you a star". Simple! But no, AEW is instead more than happy to waste Darby's best years in all these time-sink feuds and matches. Do they not realise how idiotic it is to have Darby sawdust himself in throwaway matches every week instead of only allowing him to sawdust himself in big matches during meaningful feuds when it can actually draw eyeballs AND money? But hey, Tony Khan seems to love wasting money and losing viewers, so he's probably content to continue wasting Darby in the same way he already is."

He's a very complete character and ideal and that could take him pretty far, there's no real clue though if fate is truely on his side but he's probably the most over AEW original in the company's entire existence at the moment."

I absolutely love Darby's style of selling and structuring a match since you can always see that he is hurt from all of the stuff that has already happened up to this point. There is a BIG difference between selling a bodypart, selling that you're tired or selling that you have taken so much damage that you constantly need to find openings to somehow make it back into the match and I think he is extremely good at that. Promowise, he is not outstanding but his character doesn't seem to be a big talker so that's okay. Plus: His suicide dive is one of the best looking ones I've ever seen."

Big Guy Killing Darby Allin is one of the most reliable match genres today. Worked with brody king, gave new life to joe, and made Andrade look like a killer. My pick to take the world title off of MJF."

A magnetic, once-in-a-lifetime performer."

He can't really do much on the mic, and his little high school art videos kinda get repetitive after a while. In the ring, he moves like few people I've ever seen. He's just so fast, and he's obviously athletic. The problem I have with Darby matches is that they can all fall into the same trope: Darby gets beaten badly for 90% of the time, hits his finisher, wins. When Darby gets offense in, his matches are much better. When it's him getting ragdolled until the end, they're not very interesting."

The insane bumps need to be dialled back so they are more shocking when he does pull them out. I'm not a big fan of his finisher either because after him doing loads of crazy shit during a match which only gets near falls, he puts much bigger men away with dropping his 140lb frame on top of them. Having said that, it'd probably work better if he cut back on some of the early match spots like I said before."
