[8.0] "Very good match with a very likable dynamic. Ospreay's style meshes very well whenever he's working with powerhouses (See what I did there? ). I enjoyed this a ton."

[6.0] "[3.0*] I think this match was good. It was actually better for TV than that Kyle Fletcher 20-min match with 72627 nearfalls, this one was more fluid. Of course this will get less star ratings, but this will also get more heat to the dominating heel (Hobbs) and to the underdog trying to use the power of the people to overcome his obstacles (Ospreay). So, despite it not being a half-an-hour masterclass, it did exactly what it had to do, and this is for the best. I enjoyed it a lot. Simple match, simple story, nothing insane, but very compelling."

[6.0] "Good match, the big guy vs small underdog stuff is always a great dynamic, I'm glad Ospreay had a more normal match here, it's good for his character development, people need to start seeing him more as a character than as a great wrestler that only do crazy shit, he has a huge babyface potential, maybe even can become the ace of AEW - {***}"

[7.0] "This was great. Probably my favorite Ospreay match under TV constraints. It wasn't as excessive as the Kyle Fletcher one and Hobbs being in control for most of the runtime made things more palpable. A focused David vs Goliath dynamic really does show Ospreay's strengths when working from underneath. The series against Archer when he wasn't as complete of a wrestler as he is now proves that."

[7.0] "This was a pretty good match, and if it wasn't for the weaker first three minutes or so I would probably say this was great. Both guys were really good here, although this was probably the weakest showing for Ospreay so far. Powerhouse Hobbs has really become quite the talent and has been killing it recently. The closing stretch of this match was pretty fun. Ospreay wins and tensions rise in the Don Callis Family."

[8.0] "A good match to kick off the show that was definitely one of Hobbs's best, though that's a little bit expected the he goes against someone like Ospreay. Both guys looked good here and I'm glad Ospreay got the win. I did also like that AEW promoted this as the "Battle of Wills.""

[7.0] "Good match. It wasn't way too over the top like most Ospreay matches, they went through the motion, kept a nice pace, and gave us a clean finish. Both men got their offense in, both men looked strong, I love the big man/ small man dynamic, it was fun to see Ospreay in a physically disadvantage match against a much stronger and larger man. Short match time but good effort. ***1/2"
Oswuold wrote on 26.04.2024:
[8.0] "The David vs Goliath dynamic was pretty stupid. I mean, I know Hobbs is more heavyweight than Ospreay but we are talking about Billy Goat it seemed pretty stupid. Other than that, if you forget who is the Aerial Assasin the match is well wrestled and enjoyable. The Suplex on the steel steps was brutal. ****1/4"
Prince Osborne wrote on 24.04.2024:
[8.0] "Like the duel against Fletcher, this became another 'coming out' party for Hobbs as he embraced the shade of a jealous monster who was ready to usher in the bigger picture for a while. And to make that a reality, what's the better way than decimating AEW's new shiny toy? He toyed with Ospreay all around the ring, pushing down his chances of being the dominant hand. As much as I enjoy the usual strategy, Ospreay as an underdog felt equally enticing, especially during the finishing sequence where he displayed great urgency. The pissed-off demeanor of Hobbs leaves the door open for a tailor-made rivalry in the future. 4 out of 5 stars!"

[6.0] "Nice little TV match, but Ospreay can do better. I feel like he's still in a showcase mode for the American offense, and his matches since joining AEW have been this way. Only the Fletcher match in my eyes has put an equal spotlight on the opponent. Hobbs is still good in spurts here, but yeah, this was about Ospreay a bit too much. 3.25 Stars."
Cass93 wrote on 11.04.2024:

This was an enjoyable back-and-forth contest with some great repour from Callis and co on commentary too. I like that Don isn't going down the road of automatically hating Osprey just because he's a face. ***1/2"

But apart from that I couldn't get into the match super much, Ospreay's selling is so weak and he was making such weird faces, he just kind of kills my vibe. Hobbs looked great though."

[7.0] "I really enjoyed this. Seeing Will Ospreay against one of the super heavyweights in AEW was a treat and a clear indication of how ready he is to make a seamless transition to the top of a new company. Powerhouse Hobbs, meanwhile, showed how far he's come since debuting. Ospreay was great, as always, but I cannot help but be impressed by Hobbs above all else. He was crisp in his offense and delivered some devastating maneuvers along the way. Start to finish, I thoroughly enjoyed this. 3.5 stars, 7 out of 10."

[7.0] "Good match, my favorite of the show. Hobbs might be the best powerhouse AEW have right now, hope he can get a major push at some point, a Tag Title run with Takeshita maybe, or feuding with Copeland for the TNT Title... Ospreay, on the other hand, is locked to be the face of the company, and rightfully so. (***1/2)."

[7.0] "[4.0*] Really good match, Hobbs was dominant and made some great moves throwing Ospreay into the announce table and onto the metal steps. Ospreay's counterattacks were great, after being dominated for several minutes he managed to recover and win the match with a beautiful moonsault and Hidden Blade."
LoneWolf47 wrote on 05.04.2024:
[8.0] "This match was really good. Here are my favorite moments in the match. Hobbs tossed Ospreay to the barricade and Ospreay jumped onto the barricade to avoid contact. Hobbs hit Ospreay with a fallaway onto the announce table. Ospreay once again as always showed how insane of an athlete he is when he used Hobbs as a springboard to backflip and then do an enziguri. Hobbs had a nice belly to belly throw. Ospreay hit a Slumdog millionaire on Hobbs that was cool. Ospreay had a great counter to the worlds deadliest slam(I think is what they called it.) into an inside cradle. Ospreay countered a power slam into a DDT and then hit Hobbs with a Sky Twister Press and then hit Hobbs with a hidden blade for the win. Great finishing sequence."
ZooWee wrote on 04.04.2024:
[7.0] "Another really good match from Ospreay. This was a much more subdued performance from him as he got dominated by Hobbs for most of this. Will is always great at bumping so watching him throw himself around to make Hobbs' moves look as impactful as possible was really entertaining. The bumps on the stairs and on the announce table in particular looked really great. Will managed to utilise his speed advantage over Hobbs to make a few short comebacks, but Hobbs would always shut him down in quick and brutal fashion. The finish here was also very good, but it did look like Will landed slightly wrong on Hobbs after a Leap of Faith and it did look like Hobbs got a bit rocked but he seemed fine after the match so that's good. Overall, this was a very fun match, another great performances from Will and a very impressive performance from Hobbs who I think has been in desperate need of a push for quite some time. Hopefully his performance here will be the start of that. ***3/4"

This recent streak of Ospreay matches in this AEW run has really gotten me to enjoy his work fully finally after years of not truly getting it. Will Hobbs should've been the top heavyweight of this company already, he moves amazingly and has a wonderful aura about him, this match was a wonderful showcase of Hobbs' abilities but to also keep the extremely hot Ospreay momentum going."

[8.0] "Pure brilliance from Will Ospreay as usual. This was top-tier television wrestling - the charm of the sport condensed into 13 minutes. Will Hobbs dominated early, with Will Ospreay slowly building from underneath. The second half was a thrilling exchange of dynamic moves. Hobbs showed off his strength with impressive suplexes and throws, while Ospreay countered with his signature agility and accuracy. The match actually followed a more traditional TV wrestling format than previous Will Ospreay matches, with the heel slowing things down as the babyface fires up and mounts a comeback. AEW Dynamite has become Ospreay Theatre. Let's sit back and watch Ospreay-sama work his magic."

This also let us see the potential of Ospreay working from underneath as a face, and he was pretty good since he can bump crazy and pull explains comebacks, though his selling during the heat is just okay. Hobbs really should be doing more besides having good showings against bigger stars. More engaging than the last Ospreay match but with less going on. ***1/2"

[8.0] "This was a well-worked, fun match that showcased a side of Ospreay's in-ring style that we haven't seen a lot of -- namely, how well he can sell/bump for big guys. Simple things like Hobbs' pounce and his lariat looked absolutely devastating with Ospreay's ability to fully commit to a big-air bump. The counters that Hobbs used on some of Ospreay's more "tame" offense (like his rope assisted DDTs) were logical and highlighted Hobbs' strengths. The post-match angle with Callis and Hobbs was also a good way to remind everyone that Ospreay's run through the Don Callis Family roster is not going to sit well with the other wrestlers."

[9.0] "Quite possibly the best match of Will Ospreay's fledgling AEW career so far. This match featured a more coherent story than Ospreay's three other AEW matches. I loved Powerhouse Hobbs chucking Ospreay about early on. The suplex onto the steel steps and the fallaway slam onto the announce table were sick. Hobbs was methodical back in the ring as he beat down Ospreay and we finally got to see Will work as fiery underdog babyface... which is how it should be. Great comeback from Will and they build to an excellent finishing stretch."

[7.0] "This was a really fun and entertaining bout: Ospreay is a star despite being on TV for just about a month and Hobbs is one of the most underrated guys on the roster. The guys is a beast and everything he does just looks so damn good. Ospreay's great selling and bumping also made Hobbs look better. The action was exciting and fast-paced. Loved the part on the outside with Hobbs suplexing Ospreay on the stairs and then launching him onto the announcer's table with a fallaway slam. I also really liked the sequence leading to the oscutter, really cool. Ospreay hit a sky twister and a hidden blade for the win. In the post-match we saw the first craks between the Don Callis Family. 7/10 - 3.75*/5*"

[8.0] "Good match that makes Powerhouse Hobbs look strong, just like the one he had against Sammy Guevara at a Collision, everything he does look impactful. Another day in the office for Will Ospreay lol, but the way he bumps and sells is fantastic. The action outside the ring in particular was very impressive, the suplex on the stairs, the backbreakers on the ring apron followed by a cool fallaway slaw over the announce table. Ospreay did an outstanding "sky twister press" that almost landed in a kind of a leg drop, he finished with the hidden blade that didn't looked good tho. Bryan Danielson makes his entrance early to cross path with Ospreay, that's a cool build up outside of the obvious fact that this is a dream match, Danielson beat Shibata, Ospreay challenged and beat Shibata too. Ospreay beat a big man tonight, Danielson is set to face and win against a big man in Lance Archer next. Simple but efficient build up."

I know this is setting up for Ospreay leaving the Callis family or whatever, but it feels like we're almost doing this feud backwards lol. I thought Hobbs looked good here though, certainly intimidating and at times brutal (I am reminded of Ospreay's New Japan feud with Lance Archer, and Ospreay begging Tony Khan to send Archer back to America. Ospreay works great with big dudes). Ospreay did a great job selling for him. My favorite part was the 'oh shit' expression that turned into a nervous smile on Ospreay after he slapped Hobbs in the face. Good match, wasn't too long, and had a nice little after match exchange. Edit: hope Hobbs is ok after that leg to the head off the Sky Twister Press. He seemed to be fine, but that could've been VERY ugly."
ReeBoyJenkings wrote on 04.04.2024:
[7.0] "In this match you really saw the opening glimpses of Powerhosue Hobbs as a star. Not quite there yet but he absolutely proved that when you put him with a good wrestler, he can reciprocate. Ospreay also continued to look phenomenal as always with some pretty awesome bumps and selling at the beginning of the match, though he did have a pretty out of nowhere comeback near the end that could be a turn-off if that's not your cup of tea. AEW obviously wants to work Ospreay with as many guys as possible, and now that he's blown through the DC family I'm super exited to see who else we get to see Ospreay with."

[7.0] "Very good match. Maybe the best of Hobbs career. Excellent control segment from Hobbs and the destructive quality of the attacks was definitely super high level. Ospreay should really have put all conversations about if he sells enough to rest here and I hope he agrees because, frankly, I think trying to prove this point has made his matches slightly worse. This match was still an absolute banger with Will looking like a million dollars before Ospreay desperately attempts to get the upper hand and then presses that advantage to dismantle the larger man."

[5.0] "Pretty alright match for what it is. Ospreay does his thing and has some great bumps, I've never seen a Hobbs match before but this match made me interested in what he does next, as he did some pretty brutal stuff to Ospreay in this match. Hobbs does show how green he is at times and Ospreay doesn't really sell his back all that much, but this still ending up being a decently entertaining encounter. I also kind of wish that Hobbs got the win over Ospreay considering how much damage he did to him and the fact that I didn't really like how Ospreay ended the match, it sort of felt like it came out of nowhere."
