[8.0] "This turned out to be their first of four singles bouts together, and this was a fun main event for the first night of Block B. Good technical work, good selling, and both guys put on a banger. They always have great chemistry together and I predict that they always will for the remainder of their careers."
[7.0] "Yea this match was fun, especially seeing Titan for the first time here, he left a really good impression, I'm looking foward for what esle he can do during this tournament, Despy was good too as usual with his limb work, I also think that these two have a lot of chemistry."
[6.0] "This was pretty standard as far as these two go. Titan balanced his style well and dedicated a lot of the match to his selling. Despy worked Titan's leg in his usual ways and we got a few strike exchanges and big move counters. It was a short main event in front of a small crowd so neither guy went out of their way. ***1/4"
[8.0] "A great love letter to lucha libre style. They went into a great mix of styles through the bout. Titan's babyface work was pretty good. He built well his comeback and threw some big strikes as well as Despy. Their hard-hitting sequences were sick. They had a great chemistry as the pace was superbly managed. Desperado teasing to torn Titan's mark was a bit predictable, but effective to say the least. The final stretc was great, that felt brutal, all along with the bout's mood."
[7.0] "Good stuff. I watched Titan a few years ago in the BOSJ and felt he was very average, but even during his entrance alone this year I felt like he had a difference charisma about him. Sure enough, his work also kept my attention much more. Despy continues to be a jr star. Good match. ***3/4"
[8.0] "It's so refreshing seeing a NJPW main event that is well paced and concise. Good balance between the smooth cruiserweight spots, technical work, striking, and great near falls. The leg work from Desperado was good and Titan sold out very well throughout. The final comeback attempt from Titan also kicked ass. Great stuff. ***3/4+"
[8.0] "Absolute banger of a main event between El Desperado and Titan here, I came in with no particular expectations for the simple reason that I didn't know Titan at all, this was my introduction to him and what an incredible impression he made on me in this match as I thought he was really excellent in everything he did. I can see typically what kind of wrestler he is, a luchador that some will find generic but others will love, don't expect promos or great character-work from a guy like that but rather to tremendous in-ring work with the crowd always behind him because of all the impressive stuff he can do. When I saw his personality I thought it would fit perfectly with Desperado's and I was not wrong, Despy is a brilliant heel who knows perfectly how to play with the crowd and how to deal with this type of opponent. His work on Titan's leg made sense, too bad the selling of the latter was a bit rough. But all in all, this was a killer match."
[7.0] "Good match. I don't follow Titan's work in CMLL but I saw some of his matches in past Best of the Super Juniors and, in my opinion, he's the best luchador that I saw in some time. Despe is one my favorite wrestlers and he did a great job as a heel luchador here. The best match in the tournament so far."
[8.0] "Wow, tough and spectacular. I was just surprised, a great Luchadores fight. I just made my way to emotions, the feeling when the stars came together and at the right moment these wrestlers met. Unfortunately, El Desperado is already without a title, but he goes to the title quite deservedly, he is a big favorite and his work speaks for itself. Titan was a mystery to me and I expected beautiful actions from him, that's what I got, he was very hooked by the fact that his mask was torn, and he decided to smash the enemy with all his strength. It turned out to be the brightest match of the evening."
[6.0] "A few decently intense moments but otherwise nothing too adventurous here. The story was basically Titan's flashy lucha spots against Desperado's grimy and technical control work, which made for a decent mixture of styles. They also did a dual leg-targeting story, but neither man got to go far enough with either their targeting or their selling, so that factor felt sadly undeveloped. They had some nice stiff strike exchanges and a few cool big-move trades/counters, but nothing that made the match feel more significantly more engaging than the baseline level of drama they'd established. Another issue was that this was pretty short and ended relatively anticlimactically for a main-event, but I guess it wasn't in a major city or in front of a large enough crowd to justify a 20-ish minute match with a more 'epic' series of exchanges. Good little match in the end but nothing I could imagine anyone ever coming back to rewatch. ***1/4"
[8.0] "A textbook Lucha Libre match of good v. bad. I found this to be an entertaining match to cap off the night. Titan? s speed and agility is seriously impressive, and I look forward to seeing more of him in the tournament. El Desperado did a great job working the villainous heel in the match (until the handshake post-match). Very fun, and worth a watch. 8/10"
[5.0] "Average match in my opinion. Titan is a great athlete but lacks the storytelling and the match pace done in Japan. El Desperado tried to adapt himself to that style but both guys seemed a little uncoordinated. Not bad tho and El Desperado is a star, so everything he does is meaningful."
[8.0] "The best way to close the show, a hard striking high-flying actions from one of the most over wrestlers of the division, and an import from Mexico. Really nice match. Maybe we're watching the rising of the future winner. [****]"
[6.0] "Kelly noted that Titán has kind of changed up his style in the few years since he last appeared in the tournament. He has slowed things down a bit though for a luchador, that didn't mean he was boring. In fact, he kind of just came off as more controlled. He still hit high octane moves and dives while moving quickly but he knew how to balance things out. The close calls late worked here as you never could really know who was going to win. I love when these matches don't have obvious outcomes."
[8.0] "a fun, entertaining lucha match that doesn't sacrifice psychology or overstay its welcome - both of which are crucial in a venue/atmosphere that's not conducive at all to great lucha matches"
[7.0] "Amazing performance by both wrestlers. Both of them did a great legwork and sold their legs perfectly, adding so much more to this great match. It's been a while since we last saw El Desperado acting as a heel, and he did greatly. Definitely recommend this bout. ***3/4"
[8.0] "Best match on the show and an amazing showing from Titan. His athleticism is off the charts, his moveset is great and his selling was good too, especially for a luchador. The clash of styles was also really interesting to watch. ****"
[9.0] "What a match. Titan is so good. Despy is so good. The match was, duh, so good. Titan's speed and flips out of the gate overpowered Despy, who slowed it down by taking out Titan's legs. Titan fought back with heavy strikes and elegant flips, while Despy countered with heavy strikes and technical work. This was a great first time singles match and I just wish it was longer. Between the hype tag at the A-Block opener and this match, I think Titan is set up to be B Block MVP."
[8.0] "Both wrestlers tell a good story here in the main event. Some good lucha-influenced wrestling early on, but the match gets more heated when Despy rips Titans mask. Good show of respect from block favorite Desperado post-match towards Titan with a handshake and an acknowledgement on the mic. Titan is clean with his work on the ropes."
[8.0] "Although not very long, El Desperado and Titan had the chance to exhibit different styles, from lucha acrobatics to submissions and hard hits, while also telling a story in which Titan eventually earned the respect of a rival that started the match disrespecting him and his mask."
