[8.0] "A great cage match with an overarching rivalry - when these two wrestle it feels like a "forever" rivalry, which is always nice to have. There were some slow parts that kept it from hitting the highs of their "Lights Out" match, but it was still hard hitting, brutal, and fun."

[8.0] "Truly shocked at how low the rating is for this one. It obviously doesn't reach the level of Britt Baker's and Thunder Rosa's awesome Lights Out match during the previous year's St. Patrick's Day Slam, but it's a hell of a match in its own right. These two women may have their real-life issues, but they have some pretty amazing chemistry together in the ring..."

[8.0] "Why is this rated so low? I thought this was right up there with their more famous 2021 bout, even if the finish was a little lackluster. I'm not saying this was a Match of the Year, nor am I saying this justified the horrible bout they had just a few weeks earlier, but it was a great way for Thunder Rosa to finally win the big one."
Michael Morbius wrote on 31.08.2023:
[5.0] "Not as good as their lights out match and even if took alone (without the comparison to their previous match) this match is still pretty bad. The first part was sloppy and slow. Then Britt brought some chairs in the ring and Rosa had a good comeback. The avalanche air raid crash on the chairs was amazing and easily the best moment in this match. Britt fell from the top rope on a pile of chairs and completely no sold it, she later got hit with a powerbomb on the thumbtacks and completely no sold it. The ending was strange, the two were just moving around and I was afraid that one of the two was hurt. Not the best way to end their feud. 5/10 - 2.5*/5*"

Hard-hitting, entertaining, violent match with stakes and good commentary in front of a hot crowd. What more could you want? Anybody who rated this under like a 6 is spoiled rotten"
hamstermatch wrote on 19.07.2023:
[9.0] "Fantastic match, very brutal. Britt dumped Rosa on a pile of folded up chairs in a move that I could feel hurting my own back as I watched. Then she stacked the chairs in a tower and tried to throw Rosa into them again from the top rope, only to fall into it herself. So painful to watch, in the best way. The thumbtacks were similarly crazy. Both women looked amazingly feral with the blood on their faces."

ny32986 wrote on 06.07.2023:
"the only thing memorable about this was Rosa getting the Win, It was not as good as Lights out. I also felt like there was missing storyline plotholes here (and during the show) because Britt always has help from Rebel & Jamie & now for this match they don't even come out? Plus no explanations to why they were not there (nor anything with Mercedes Martinez for Rosa's side). I'm sorry if you have something going on with supporting characters & they are not a factor at all in the main situation, you lose points on that. Plus there were a few ridiculous moments like Britt Gigging a couple minutes into the match, the Tacks under the ring & Britt making the Chair Erector Set to take a bump through."

GoodVsBadGuys wrote on 31.05.2023:
[8.0] "There were definitely clumsy and awkward parts in this match, particularly in Britts movements. Knowing what we know now about how Britt feels about Rosa can make you wonder about what might have been going on there. However, this match had a massive big fight feel, and the audience elevated the match. It delivered on the promise of violence and closure that cage matches of yesteryear were supposed to signify."

TheLegitBoss wrote on 01.10.2022:
[8.0] "Really special main event between Baker and Rosa here which is not unanimous as their Lights Out match and I can totally understand it honestly because as I said it's a special match, quite disturbing to watch at times so hard the spots are and so huge the risks taken are and not everyone can stand it. Even me, when I watched this match live six months ago, I honestly didn't like it at all, probably because I was tired or because I was tired of Tony Khan's booking at that time. But when I saw it again, giving them a second chance, I managed to appreciate it, not as much as their other match which they will never be able to surpass anyway but there are still a lot of positive things in there. I totally hear the criticism and I can see why this match is so divisive, the overbooking and the not so great execution but seriously... listen to this crowd. It makes all the difference, listen to the crowd at every spot and every time Thunder Rosa does something. They took huge bumps and for that you have to respect them even if you didn't like it, Britt's loss had to be in a special context like this and I thought it was so well done. Thunder Rosa finally had her moment and she deserves all the gold in the world, even if her title run was not great (I still liked it honestly) it's still one of the best title changes that happened this year."
DammitChrist wrote on 28.08.2022:
[9.0] "Yep, this Steel Cage match with Britt Baker vs Thunder Rosa is also underrated. Both women delivered a pretty darn good match using multiple spots that took advantage of the No DQ environment, and it eventually led to a pretty deserving feel-good moment for Rosa in the end. It's unfortunate that both women seem to have heat against each other since they generally work well together in the ring. My only nitpick here is that the ending was a little rushed due to the fact that they were running out of TV time."

Exactly what you would want for a title change in Rosa? s hometown to end a blood feud. The crowd ate it up and what a Dynamite moment this was. You could see how much this night meant to Thunder Rosa. Had all the feels."
GulakBusick wrote on 09.04.2022:

TheArtOfTheRing wrote on 02.04.2022:
[7.0] "This appears to be quite a divisive match, but I liked it a lot. It was a brutal war between two bitter rivals, and Rosa's win was well deserved and got over massive in her hometown. Much better than their match in Revolution but also much weaker than their Lights Out match"
TheJakeMitchell wrote on 01.04.2022:

"Didn't have quite the magic of their lights out match, but still solid work from both Rosa and Baker, and a very good addition to their series of matches. Several pretty nasty spots and some color as befitted the match and their feud. Closing stretch felt rushed and I suspect they had a couple more spots planned but they ran out of time. Still definitely worth watching."
BH62 wrote on 28.03.2022:
[7.0] "Not bad at all but far away for their first bout last year. It's strange they didn't have the same chemistry they had before. Nevertheless, this had good spots during all the bout. Even if Baker's selling sucked. Far better than their Revolution encounter, by the way. Stipulation added a lot and they, at least, put on things to relate on their hatred rivalry. Good finish as well."

JonahBlack wrote on 21.03.2022:
[8.0] "Tarnished only slightly by a rushed ending, and the ghost of the Revolution Match. Still a thrilling match with a deserved stipulation and a good end. Contrary to some opinions, I think the thumbtacks were used very well, and consistent with Britt Baker's character. I really liked Rosa using them to defend the Lockjaw."
dreammachine wrote on 20.03.2022:
[2.0] "Weird match. This feud had cooled off considerably before even their Revolution match and this could've salvaged it a bit but it just didn't come together. Way too messy throughout and meandering in the first half cost them in the most crucial moments in the final minutes. None of the big spots they set up went off well either. Unfortunate missfire."
Corey187 wrote on 20.03.2022:
[8.0] "Great package all around. Loved the special entrance for Rosa and the match was a violent blast. They had to rush a couple things because of time but that tends to happen more often than not in Dynamite main events. Everyone was just rolling around in thimbtacks (even Aubrey) like it was nothing which I thought was nuts and that ref bump gave me flashback vibes to the Hell in a Cell between HHH and Jericho haha. This was good stuff. ****"
PavelDragunov wrote on 20.03.2022:
[7.0] "A controversial fight. I can't understand if the girls tried, for me it's a question. Something went wrong with their duels. Maybe they have personal misunderstandings or lack of chemistry, I do not know. Thunder Rosa received bright support in her native place, as well as a beautiful special exit and energy was felt from her, but Britt did not seem to be charged for a battle in a cage. Some moments in the duel were executed well, for example, falling on a pyramid of chairs, and sometimes everything was clumsy and messy. All the confusion did not become an advantage, rather it brought confusion. I am happy for Rosa, but unfortunately this is not the triumph I was waiting for."
slimetimelive wrote on 20.03.2022:
[3.0] "Another letdown for me on this show. Cage matches are rare in AEW. This might as well not have been a cage match at all. Just a remake of their hardcore match except way less good. Rosa winning in her hometown kinda covered up how cold she was going into this."
Mizzle Assault Ant wrote on 20.03.2022:
[10.0] "This match kicked ass, it got straight to the ideal parts of a cage match with both competitors quickly bleeding and giving each other hell against the steel mesh of the cage wall. Through many vicious attacks, up to and including some hellacious thumb tack bumps, Rosa at least dethroned Britt and won the title to an enormous reaction. Very nearly as good as their famous match last year and a tremendously satisfying conclusion to this feud and to one of the best title reigns in AEW. Truly shocked at the low rating here."

DiagonalLeft wrote on 19.03.2022:
[7.0] "I felt they were pressed for time so rushed through certain spots, but without me realising, it ended up being close to 20 minutes, they just crammed alot of stuff in. Both had a tough act to follow the classic they put on the previous year, but they gave it a good go. Shame the pyramid of chairs didn't crumble when Britt hit them, instead she kind of just bounced off. Both bled and put on a good free mid week main event. The crowd was loud and it felt like a big match. ***3/4"
Dragon Fighter wrote on 19.03.2022:
[6.0] "Decent match. At least the crowd reacted to the action of both women and it is easier to work in no DQ match. I didn't like the ref bump. It was so dumb. But then the match got better as the crowd reacted louder. There were some good spots. I like the use of thumbtacks and the way Rosa smashed Baker's hand. Nice win and moment for Rosa. Better than the revolution match for sure. Hopefully, her title reign will be better."
TheOverShaker wrote on 19.03.2022:
[3.0] "This match was garbage. It started well but the second they brought out the steel chairs the match became a hot mess. Thunder Rosa wouldn't sell a chair shot but would spend 40 seconds lying prone on the turnbuckle. The Ref bump added nothing, just made this match even more confusing. The Air Raid siren onto the chairs should have been a finish, it wasn't. Falling back first from the cage wall into a pyramid of chairs should have been a finish, it wasn't. A Powerbomb into the thumbtacks should have been the finish, it wasn't, instead Britt Baker roles out immediately and hits Thunder Rosa with a chair (? ). Then finally Thunder Rosa hits her finish on the thumbtacks, 1 2 3. New champion. Thank god."

[8.0] "A weird match that I didn't know how to rate. It was dinamic, had some great spots, nearfalls and the crowd was really hot, but at the same time it was sloppy and Baker sold nothing Rosa threw at her. She was superkicking her and walking to grab a bag full of tacks right after taking a bump through like six chairs. That took me out of the match a bit, but overall it was emotional for Thunder Rosa and I liked it. ****"
ChadBroder wrote on 19.03.2022:
[9.0] "Initially, I thought this match would be okay and would just be hyped as women doing this for to prove they could. However, I really liked that Baker realized in the match Rosa was way too good to beat her and desperately attempted to get away or find a way to seal the deal before it was too late with the chairs and the tacks. Rosa winning the titles is exciting as well and I really think this match set her up as a strong champion and can hopefully put on some more great matches down the line. ****1/2"

[8.0] "Great match. I actually didn't realize that this went fairly close to 20 minutes, and my chief complaint up until that revelation was that it was too short. Obviously that's more a credit to the pace of the match, and the performance of both ladies. Not much to add to the conversation, it was just a great title match. EDIT: As Bryan Alvarez said, nobody is asking you to like this match, but it is objectively false to say that there was no heat or that nobody in the building cared."
