Jade Cargill vs. Tay Conti

[3.0] "Putting the title on Jade was so dumb. She was only a few months into wrestling and she was far from ready for this spot. It could've very well been a car crash but thankfully it wasn't and it was simply just a bad match."

[8.0] "thought both women did a good job here, told a good story in the match, and the right woman obviously won in the end. Jade would go on to bigger and better things but this was her biggest AEW outing and she did relatively well"

[1.0] "This match was ass, just straight up terrible. Jade Cargill is just not a good wrestler at all, she's just trash. I don't even like Tay Conti that much, she was good here, her kicks were great, and that's it honestly. Besides that, this match is bad. It get's a 1 for Tay Conti trying to make this match passable. Still don't know what Tony saw in Jade, she needed waay more training, half of the time in her AEW career, it just looked like she wasn't giving much effort"

[4.0] "this match was not great plain and simple jade was to green here to be working with someone like tay conti and it showed as it was a slog to get through that thankfully wasnt to long of a match"

[4.0] "A fairly poor match. Doomed from the off as Tay isn't a believable challenger despite her showing admirable spunk. Jade is very green still and it shows in a lot of her control spots. A serviceable effort which is immediately forgettable. **"

[4.0] "A really weak match between both women with uninspiring in ring work and psychology between each other and it was deeply predictable on what the result was going to be."

[4.0] "Jade's heel work is pretty terrible in this, but I wouldn't say the match is awful. It's more so underwhelming, and the finish is flat. Match opens with Jade kissing Taye for...whatever reason. Both ladies look great, but Jade has to continually pick out her costume wedgie."

[6.0] "Like they knew they werent going to have all the time in the world for this so decided to just throw bombs at each other and I really enjoyed it. I love the heel work Jade did also. Unfortunately not much of a story here and some of the actual spots looked a little clunky. Weirdly enough thought Conti had a better showing in her match against Britt Baker even though this was the stronger match overall."

[2.0] "Holy christmas this was not a good showing for either of these wrestlers at all. There's definitely been worse but this was clunky as anything and no one was buying the prospect of Tay Conti winning. At least it was the shortest match on the show so that's something"

[3.0] "This match was really not that good, there was a few good parts of the match saying that however both are still green but have made improvements since this match definetly a bathroom break match in this ppv tho i did think about giving it a 4/10 but i give it a 3/10"

[7.0] "Jade Cargill gets better with time and this was a pretty solid match overall. A sleeper hit for me, loved the attire and her heel schtick. Tay Conti had a good showing as well."

[5.0] "Decent match, Jade wasn't very good while Tay did a couple cool things and the action wasn't awful as I expected. It's just that I didn't care about this match. 5/10 - 2.75*/5*"

[3.0] "NOT GOOD! This was the time to go to the bathroom. Both Jade and Tay have potential but they're still too green. Jade will be a star one day but she still needs a lot more time to develop. ALOT."

[4.0] "This is a pretty boring match with the right winner the onlything good is that it is a pretty short match . **"

[4.0] "This was a passable match. Jade has room to improves, but she's getting there and definitely comes off as a star. Tay came a long way from her NXT days. I was surprised to see her pulling a piledriver. Not a bad match, both tried for the time they were given, but it was decent overall. **1/4"

[4.0] "Jade kissing Tay to confuse her and try to finish the match immediately was a strange yet clever way to start this off. Jade obviously has the looks, but she has also shown improvement lately, as seen from the new moves she brought to the table here. Tay managed a few hope spots here and there, but she inevitably fell short to the Jaded to end this solid, if unspectacular, TBS Title defense. [**]"

[4.0] "The most memorable part about this match is the start. That being said I didn't hate this too much. This was a pretty concise match that didn't overstay its welcome. Jade is showing slow improvement but improvement nonetheless."

[3.0] "I don't understand people who don't find this match bad. Just the beginning announces the horror that we are going to see. Cargill is definitely one of the worst wrestlers I've seen. Fortunately Conti is there to bring the rare qualities of this match. 1.75 Stars"

[6.0] "Pretty ok match, short but got the job done. Cargill is very green but has a lot of charisma as well and I hope to see her evolve and become great as she continues her career from here."

[5.0] "Fairly normal Jade match at this point. Tay was the most experienced wrestler in this, which sounds weird for a title match on ppv and frankly it is. Good for what it was, there were no big botches and Jade's presentation makes her look like a huge star, even though she needs to improve in the ring."

[7.0] "I was maybe as crazy as the crowd was but I found this fun. Cargill's Mortal Kombat cosplay was nice as she did the Kiss of Death (that's Kitana ! ) was very fun and a good thing for shippers. They kept it simple but brutal, Jay even took a bump. Jade stills a bit green but she's progressing day by day."

[6.0] "This match was a fun watch, and short enough to not expose how green Jade is. They told a fun story with the kisses."

[6.0] "The only highlight of the match was the kiss between Tay Conti and Jade Cargill, the fine was at times slow but it wasn't bad"

[5.0] "Tbh, I didn't dislike the match when I watched it, but reviewing it a few days later, I really can't remmember anything memorable that happend there besides Jade's kisses and her amazing gear. Rewatched it, it was ok, but sloppy. Fine for a short below-10 minutes match."

"(6.0) A fun little sprint of a match on a tough part of the card to be, after the craziness of the opening 3 matches. A lot of spots were collected into this match, and it feels like a 12-15 minute match shrunk down into a 7 minute one. Pretty fun, and better than I expected given Jade's lack of PPV experience."

[2.0] "People keep trying to convince themselves that Jade is getting better with every match, but really she hasn't shown much if any improvement. Slow, somewhat sloppy offense from both ladies who looked lost at times, and a lack of storytelling/selling. The commentators tried to make out that Tay had Jade in a spot of bother, yet she managed to take a chair shot to the face and almost immediately go back on the offense, and made a hasty recovery from a nice looking piledriver to turn around and win the match out of nowhere. Thankfully it was a fairly short match and provided some respite for the fans, but a good match it wasn't. That said Jade totally kissed Tay so 8/10 I guess /s"

[7.0] "Probably the best match Jade has been involved in. Perhaps mostly due to Conti; that seemingly effortless piledriver to someone so much bigger than her was crazy!"

[3.0] "They both move just so slow in the ring. Nothing in this match was outright bad but it's just hard to get over that for me."

[6.0] "One of Jade Cargill's better perfomance. The greeness of Cargill is still there but has become less apparent and she was the better performer here. Conti is a good athlete but she was stiff and stoic; Just going through the motions. The match was decent for it was. Nothing spectacular but it had decent action and a good pacing. ***"

[6.0] "At the moment, the lowest rated match of the evening. Mostly because they started with a Botchamania, I suppose this was due to the intensity they wanted to start. But after some minutes they began to work well together and gave us a decent match. Cargill has still some time to keep evolving as TBS champion, but this was a solid match. [***1/4]"

[4.0] "3.5/10 Good layout of a match with sub-par execution but to be expected here. Not much of a problem. Good by AEW women's division standards, but poor by any real standards."

[4.0] "For an inexperienced wrestler, Tay Conti did a very good job of trying to carry the overrated Cargill, who was moving in robotic slow-motion."

[4.0] "By far the better of the two women's matches and one of Jade's better performances. It still wasn't great and not what I'd consider a PPV quality match, but it could have been a lot worse. Also, the presentation for Jade was fantastic and she looked like a huge star."

[5.0] "Decent match that was perfect for a breather after a string of rapid fire bangers including the buy-in matches. The story was a bit weird with the kissing sequences and stuff like that somehow deteriorated this feud but the action was solid where Jade is showing huge signs of improvement and Tay bringing her best for the short time given. The shenanigans were used well but it was rough in terms of execution. 2.5 out of 5 stars!"

[6.0] "Girls! What sexy outfits, this is definitely a plus of the match. Girls are really hot stars. Jade Cargill cosplay really goes, maybe she should always dress like that. The fight turned out to be fast-flowing and fun, the main plus of the show is that the matches that should go short, they went short. There is absolutely competent timing. Jade Cargill is not pulling long fights yet. And Tay Conti alone will not be able to make a bright fight for more than 10 minutes. In a short time, the fight satisfied me. It's a pity that Tay lost all her main matches."

[6.0] "For what this was it was fine and I felt that it showed some improvements are being made by Cargill who is still super green in the ring despite being a future star. Also surprising that this wasn't the worst match on the card."

[2.0] "What is interesting in this match? A boring match with a lot of fouls in moves. I like jade's gear but this match is absolutely awful"

[6.0] "It was exactly what it needed to be, no more, no less. Jade looked dominant as ever, and she gets more charismatic by the day."

[3.0] "Nothing interesting, I have been of the opinion since the start of Jade's reign, that it was way too early for her to be a champion. I will however say she has come leaps and bounds since her debut, Tay has bettered a lot as well."

[4.0] "They did alright here. They both don't look so good performing but they still managed to pull it off without any big botches."

[5.0] "Better than expected, did its job as a breather, and they managed to do a better match than Britt and Rosa. That being said, I hate these forced kisses spots."

[6.0] "I gotta admit, Jade Cargill is improving, babysteps, but she is improving her game. This was a decent bout, nothing special, but I cant believe these women did not sell anything, They just performed spot after spot, no selling nor in-ring psychology."

[5.0] "This was actually a very solid match, it was probably jades best single match ever. Nobody in the crowd cared but I thought both Cargill and Conti looked good in this **3/4"

[5.0] "Weird match but still fun. Jade's power moves are still a reliable pop. Conti beat the hell out of her at the end but Jade was kept strong."

[6.0] "Match didn't overstay its welcome. Jade is a start but is still rough in the ring, as is Tay Conti. Tay was supposed to be a face but worked like a heel which did a disservice to the match. Kicks looked good, and I liked the simple story of building a match around Jade trying to hit her finishing mover"

[5.0] "Not a masterpiece but they delivered an acceptable match in the time allocated. Short and sweet. Some of the reversals, while far from perfect, looked nice and they exchanged good bigger spots. Tay Conti has amazing strikes and that piledriver was awe-inspiring. Jade Cargill still isn't without flaws, but she is progressing. She looked more comfortable here than she did in the TBS final with Ruby Soho. Her reported training with Danielson appears to bearing tentative fruit. Really liked the frogsplash which was uncharacteristic for her."

[6.0] "this was a very dysfunctional match, both women did not have the best chemistry in the ring, kinda sloppy but since this match was slotted in to be a popcorn match, I won't shit on in too much, still a passable watch but not good at all"

[6.0] "Sweet and short match between Cargill and Conti here which will certainly not be remembered and will certainly end up having the reputation of the weakest match on this card (which is totally understandable) but which was far from being bad in my humble opinion, it was pretty energetic seven minutes with some pretty fun action and a flawless execution if it wasn't for the chair spot with Anna Jay which was terrible, don't come and tell me that the referee didn't see it and on top of that, it was a totally botched chair shot. But again the action itself was pretty entertaining to watch, in such a stacked PPV you need this kind of filer to make the crowd breath a little bit and I feel that after a long Ladder match and Shane Strickland's debut, putting this short bout in this position was a good decision. There was no suspense but Jade really shined, that girl is fucking awesome and that's how I want to see her booked, she needs to have fast and competitive title defenses just like this one, her Frog Splash was great. Conti was a good challenger and overall it was okay for what it was."

[6.0] "It was fine. Short match which is maybe for the best given that Jade is still a little green. Not much to remember, maybe aside from Cargill's entrance but it didn't drag the show down. Match just was there and I still view Jade Cargill as one of the best prospects on AEW roster."
