Dr. Britt Baker DMD vs. Tay Conti

[6.0] "The champ retains as expected. The crowd wasn't into this match like the others, but they did get into it a bit more as it progressed. Conti hit Baker with everything for two counts and then Baker wasn't able to apply her submission, so it ended up being a cradle pin for the win. I think Baker has had better matches although this was fine. Some of the spots wit the women on the floor didn't look great, so that hurt a bit too."

[5.0] "It was solid, but it was probably the worst match on the card so far. I like Britt. I miss watching her character work, but she hasn't had a ton of equal in-ring performers to work with in 2021."

[5.0] "This just was a miss with the in ring chemistry, i dont think this was particularly great work from Britt, as the chain wrestling she does is weak since she's just always a little off with her grips. I didn't think the ending was partiuclarly effective, didn't feel like it was that well put together in terms of storyline. There were parts that definitely looked good, and they definitely put some PPV worthy spots into the singles match with the spots they took, but not all were executed properly. Tay looked pretty good in the match and did a lot of good stuff, but ultimately it just didn't get to a good enough place for a PPV, but wasn't totally and completely underwhelming."

[5.0] "Yeah it was fair enough. Wanted Tay to win but glad she didn't lose directly because of Britt's cronies. Britt seemed like she got lazy while Tay was doing some good reversals and they both pulled off that ending."

[5.0] "Found the actual in ring work really sloppy looking at time but there were some great spots within there and Baker has this heel persona nailed. Dont think she was strong enough in ring to get Conti over in defeat but Conti did an admirable job here. Thought the finish was rushed and came out of nowhere."

[7.0] "I really enjoyed this as a star-making performance for Tay Conti, who showed her shoot fighter chops. Yes, nobody thought Conti would win, but it really worked for me as a brawl between two women who should always be around the top of the division."

[3.0] "Filler match just to have a womens match on the card and it showed. No one thought Tay Conti would win and some of this feud was about Tay having a better booty than Britt. Was a flat match and the crowd seemed asleep and ready for something else and soon"

[6.0] "A decently worked match, particularly from Conti, but one that felt a bit unremarkable, outside of one apron spot. Not super memorable in retrospect, but definitely not bad. [3.25]"

[9.0] "Exceptional match, a real star making performance from Tay Conti, who has great offence and selling. Baker helps carry the match's sequencing and pacing while getting in some of her own offence, but this is a match designed to elevate Conti in defeat and did so excellently. The finish was brilliant because while Baker's expertise made her able to kick out, she couldn't outwrestle Conti on the ground to get the Lockjaw in and didn't have the energy to use any power based offence to put her away, so she used her smarts to get the quick pinfall. Lovely stuff."

[5.0] "Just kind of felt like a filler match, which is a shame, as this was the only women's match on the show. The crowd weren't really into it and the action wasn't really anything special. **3/4"

[7.0] "Good match between these two: Tay looked great with her offense and some of the bumps she took were nuts (the curb stomp on the stapes and air raid crash on the apron) and ending with Baker winning via roll-up made her look like a star, she still needs to improve something like the selling but I would like to see her again fight for the women's championship. The match was a bit too long and sometimes the action was sloppy but overall it was good. 7/10 - 3.5*/5*"

[6.0] "I thought this was a decent match with some great moments like the air raid crash on the apron. Some sloppiness here and there, but still a very solid match. ***1/4"

[2.0] "Tay Conti was great and seemed like a real star performance from her, DMD is great as usual and made for a fun match"

[7.0] "Good match between Baker and Conti here which was maybe a little too long like the previous match but was still qualitative in the action offered, they worked hard but they never really got the crowd on board and I think that's a shame but anyway Tony Khan knew very well what he was doing by putting them in that spot on the card as usual. For some people out there it was the 'pee break match' and that's very sad, the crowd still reacted to the big spots and tried to get into it but something just didn't quite click. Anyway personally I managed to get invested in what they were doing together between the ropes, they developed a good chemistry and Baker's character-work was top notch. Really liked Conti's babyface performance too, she's clearly made to play this role so I hope it will be the case once again in the future even though I like her actual pairing with Sammy. A fun middle of the card title match, nothing more nothing less."

[5.0] "This is a pretty lackluster match and the worst of the night it just felt kinda like a filler match. **1/2"

[6.0] "A pity that Tay Conti lost, at that moment he looked like he could beat Britt, however it was quite clear that he would eventually retain."

[3.0] "Could have been a decent 5-8 min match. Having it go 15 is malpractice. Both women were blown up halfway through and looked sloppy throughout. This was the shits. Giving it 3 points for effort and a decent finish"

[6.0] "It was good, I love both women in the match, but the crowd did not help this match. They tried really hard, but it didn't really do anything."

[6.0] "A decent though not very noteworthy title match. This would have been a lot better without all of the interference from Rebel and Jamie. I like the two of them on their own but they get involved in pretty much every Britt match and it gets a bit tiring."

[7.0] "Solid match but I think they went the wrong way trying to do incredible spots that were just not for this match. I still can't like Britt Baker's matches as much as I want, but somehow they always have something that prevents me from not enjoying it. Solid. ***1/4"

[4.0] "Britt moving in slow motion as usual while Tay was trying to get a reaction with every move to no avail."

[6.0] "Fine but Britt is really pretty poor in ring isn't she. Conti was much more impressive, though that's not saying a tonne as this match was just decent. ***"

[0.0] "Dreadful stuff. Britt tries to do these intricate pinning sequences, but she's not athletic enough to pull them off. Her holds are loose and her execution of moves is clunky. Tay's not much better, as she hit some weak-looking offense here, too. Even Tay's moonsault took awhile to set up, and Britt, Rebel, and Jamie were left standing there forever looking like idiots. "7.75/10 is my rating for this match. It was a pretty good match, but britt baker needs to improve because her moves need way more improvement."

[6.0] "Neither Conti or Baker are known as in-ring workhorses of AEW, but they shined in this smartly crafted match. They played to their strengths, and kept things short enough to not get overexposed. The crowd started dead, but they worked hard to get them back with a simple pro wrestling match. Match Rating: 3/5 (***)"

[5.0] "I don't have a lot to say except that it was boring. Baker is terrible, Conti isn't much better, their face / heel work aren't good either. Ther is literally nothing on this match that gives me hope for AEW's women's division, it had the same problem that every women's match in this company : barely any build-up, no suspense. **1/2"

[4.0] "Really mediocre match. It was sloppy, too slow, way too long considering the build's lack of quality, and crowd was righthly pretty cold for most of it. Britt's reign proves she isn't ready to carry the women's divison, Rosa would be better suited for it."

[4.0] "I'd be the first to say that this rating is mostly low bc I watch a lot of joshi and am therefore jaded, but this didn't work for me at all. Britt might be a great character, but she does not impress me in the ring."

[7.0] "They had the bad luck to pass right after Cody's shit and being right before the big matches of the night. After a reward, they put some very deep efforts to put on a cool match. People are crazy for both Baker and Conti. However, they haven't got quite a chemistry but we feel they went their best. Very solid bout, Conti is over as hell."

[6.0] "Tay had some nice moments, and Britt had a few cool stair spots. This was never gonna be a 5 star match, but it was a solid defense for Britt. I'd imagine her feud with Rosa starts soon. Looking forward to it. ***1/4"

[6.0] "Good match that started pretty sloppy and ended better. Too much chicanery near the end and a finish that would have been ok if Brit didn't just kick out of a finisher. Why was that done'"

[6.0] "A really good match that nearly entered into great territory. There were some genuinely incredible moves and moments, as well as some clunky sequences and a few telegraphing of spots. Either way, this was a thoroughly enjoyable match that one can only wish had a better crowd. I would love to see a rematch down the line. 3.25 stars, 6.5 out of 10."

[4.0] "Tay Conti carried Baker through this entire match. Baker might be great at promos and character work but she really needs to improve in-ring."

[3.0] "Damn, this was so boring. Baker working as a heel here was a total bore. Her long control segment and heel acts just put me to sleep. At least Conti had some nice moments as the Face tried to fight back after getting dominated. The match itself was too long. 15-minute match felt like 25. I don't know but Baker is still average at very best. She isn't very good at all."

[6.0] "It was what it was. Both fine workers but neither that special. Awful build hamstrung any sort of interest I (or the crowd) could've had in it. They traded some generic momentum for a little too long with some nice near falls for Tay that no one really bought before a meh finish."

[6.0] "Decent match. While the match was fine as a whole, there were areas that both women could have done better whether it be execution or selling. Also, the consecutive kickouts were a little far fetched but it did get the crowd's attention. Conti looses nothing in defeat, she will continue to improve until one day, she becomes the Champion herself. ***"

[6.0] "This was technically fine as a whole, but it needed to be at max ten minutes, especially after that disaster of a tag match earlier. The crowd didn't seem to care much, and I can't blame them either. Props to both ladies for trying but this is as good as it can get. [***]"

[3.0] "You have one job as a top heel and that's to sell and make the babyface look good. Britt Baker could not even summon the ability to make Tay's judo flips looks good. Conti isn't perfect either but she at least tried during this."

[7.0] "Pretty good match, almost gave this match an 8. I think that this match started slow but then it picked up."

[9.0] "Pretty great women's match here, I was hoping Conti would once again show she has improved even further and she really did, she's becoming a force to be reckoned with. Right choice for the winner though, the division needs Britt and it's gotta be Thunder Rosa who takes it off her in the end."

[7.0] "Fine match, Tay Conti really stood out in this, with a Gotch-Style Piledriver and various moves of Katsuyori Shibata and Minoru Suzuki"

[6.0] "This was a fine match, though maybe a little too long. Tay Conti is impressive but is still really rough around the edges, and Baker is simply not capable of rounding out said edges at this point in her career. There were some sloppy exchanges, but there were some cool spots. The air raid crash onto the apron was gross. Baker kicking out of all of Tay's signature moves was definitely a choice. The finish was also a little lame. Overall though this was fine. [***]"

[6.0] "I thought it was okay enough to reach a '6', but I do have one major complaint. Baker looked like she nearly broke Conti's neck with that air raid crash on the apron but it was pretty much no-sold. MJF set an example in the opener that many in AEW could learn from."

[4.0] "Tay Conti worked really hard but Britt Baker looked gassed or unmotivated throughout this. A lot of poor selling and execution brought this down. Layout of the match was questionable too."

[6.0] "I love both Conti and Britt and the match was good. Some moments were amazing, like that Piledriver from Tay, but we had as many dull moments, like slow pacing or inconvinsing shots from Conti. And after some great matches, crowd was just too tired to care. Either way, I found it a good watch, not the best, not the worst."

[6.0] "Tay Conti is improving in the ring, but still doesn't look convincing when striking, which hurt this match as the first half featured a lot of forearm shots - when she switched to kicks it was much better, and she has plenty of great moves. Britt, as she often does, got the win here despite not looking particularly strong. This was still a good match, but not as good as the previous ones. AEW has better female wrestlers, and hopefully Thunder Rosa will soon take the belt from Britt, as her defences aren't doing much for the title. Maybe another year's development will get Tay to the point she'll look convincing as a championship contender."

[6.0] "I think if the crowd wasn't having a collective breather, this could have gone better. Conti was putting the work in and deserves much more. Then again tbe women's division is seemingly still not quite there yet either. Baker is still a fantastic character but looked as if she was going through emotions here. Her All Out match was much better."

[6.0] "A lot of people are being too harsh on this match. It was a decent match that showcased Tay. Britt maybe took a bad hit or was gassed early cause Tay looked like she was carrying it for a while, but she did a great job at it. The crowd tried its hardest to tank this match for no reason. Spots in this match that were definitely better than in the previous or next match were met with silence."

[7.0] "Decent match, though AEW's women's division is severely lacking of star power. Tay had a good performance, though, and Britt as always looked solid. Rebel needs to dial it down at ringside, though."
