Chris Brookes & Drew Parker vs. MAO & Shunma Katsumata

[7.0] "What an effort considering Brookes & Mao have upcoming intense singles matches & Parker's doing a one-off. Indeed the crowd didn't appear up-for-it, but I enjoyed this as much as any of the following four tournament bouts. 3 1/3 - 3/8"

[8.0] "Absurd death match, Drew Parker is a scary dude. Love Brookes just absolutely despising Shunma for no reason, and the fuck you shunma table really made me laugh. Funny and scary, 4 stars."

[7.0] "A very cool and especially fun hardcore match, there were a few nice spots, like the one with the staplegun or everything Shuna had to take, from the board to the powerbomb through the boxes. Everyone was good here and was part of a cool spot."

[5.0] "5.5 - Drew's proper exhibition-y deathmatch style didn't fit here and the match felt a little unwanted by the crowd. The four-way staplegun spot was fun. My favourite spots were the final three on Shunma: slam through the 'fuck you Shunma' board; Drew's corkscrew senton; the big powerbomb through the boxes."

[8.0] "This is so much fun, some fantastic spots including Drew wrestling half the match with a dart in his cheek, everyone taking staple guns to the head and big moves through plastic boxes and on to lego. Also a fucking table covered in forks. Great stuff from these mad, goofy bastards."

[9.0] "Any DDT fan knows at this point that whenever Chris and Shunma are in a Hardcore match together magic happens, but the real star of this match was Drew Parker, who spent most of this match proving that he's one tough motherf*cker. He took a staple-gun shot to the *tongue*, wrestled half the match with a dart stuck in his cheek, and even went out of his way to get revenge on the table (which had I-Am-The-Tabled him) after the match. Amazingly violent and fun, this match met the high expectations warranted by its competitors."

[7.0] "One of the most brutal matches in pro wrestling history. Legos, balloons, darts. A lot of dumb things happened that I didn't like and a lot of dumb things happened that I did like. It's not going on a MOTY list but this match must be witnessed."

[8.0] "A very fun hardcore match, Drew Parker and Chris Brookes have an amazing chemistry as a team, MAO and Shunma also"

[8.0] "I'm not a massive fan of deathmatch wrestling, but there's something about the way DDT does them that works for me. This was a great match!"

[9.0] "A good combination of the brutality of death match and the entertaining style of DDT. It's funny but also exciting. Besides, there were also good wrestling spots, the flexibility of MAO and Parker was impressive. This kind of match is full of imagination and you can only see it in DDT, I like this one."

[7.0] "This was a solid DDT style hardcore match with the plastic containers, Legos and other objects preferred by Shunma and MAO. Meanwhile Drew brought the more BJW deathmatch style into the match and combination of these two was quite fun to watch. The rivalry between Shunma and Drew continued in this and we got some nasty bumps from Drew in this. Nice stuff 7/10"

[7.0] "One of the better DDT hardcore matches using some real death match weapons along side the more goofy ddt weapons there where some nasty dumps along the way with drew Parker unsurprisingly taking the most nasty dumps"

[6.0] "It was far from bad, the whole match was fun, but everything involving the plastic boxes took me out of the match as it's probably the least impressive weapon I've ever seen in a hardcore match. The darts and the legos were cool, Parker and Brookes worked well together, and the swanton from a ladder by Parker on MAO looked great. The boxes made it impossible for me to watch it like a serious match, but there were spots too brutal for me to consider it a comedy match, so I ended upwith a strange feeling watching it where I didn't know how to react to the spots and it clearly made the match less good for me. ***1/4"

[7.0] "A very fun tag-team match with a lot of unique plunder (Lego bats, Lego boards, plastic bins filled with dust to emulate light tubes) where Brookes & Parker put themselves on the line to deal even more damage to their opponents. Not a dull moment in it and highlights the strengths of the Brits very well; their promo together in fluent Japanese shows how much they've been able to fit in both in DDT and elsewhere (Brookes in Gatoh Move, Parker in BJW). ***1/2"
