[8.0] "This is a historic moment, as is the first ever Ultimate X match. The encounter had some problems, such as the belt falling off the cables twice. I think it's normal considering that it was the first time they did, so that would not affect the rating, it's a thing that can happen. I like how they have been building this rivalry for the last months, so this match has a meaning, as a way to resolve the dispute of this three involving the X Division title. There are some cool spots and exchanges through the match, such as a springboard dropkick by Sabin to both Kazarian and Shane when they were on the cables, or Sabin's swinging side slam to Kazarian on an open chair. Shane also did a great blade job. Another cool move by Sabin was when he hit a samoan drop and a dropkick at the same time. Also Sabin's powerbomb to Kazarian when they were on the cables. I loved the ending, when Kazarian was about to win, Michael Shane appeared out of nowhere and threw him off the cable an grab the title to win the match. Sabin and Shane made a great performane. Sabin with some great spots and Shane with good psychology, moments and an insane blade job. He looks really strong with this win. I've been enjoying a lot his run so far. Kazarian still can't win the championship, also he made some botches or weird moves. But it was a important match and the three made a good performance. Loved the blood and the innovative stipulation and spots."

[7.0] "This was a very good match, and a historic one at that. This was the very first Ultimate X match, which would go on to became a staple in TNA ever since. This was a culmination of several matches between these three, and they went out there and hit all the high flying moves you would expect. This match wasn't perfect though, as the belt fell off the cables twice. That didn't bother me too much because both times it happened after big spots, so it did help to sell the punishment these guys were putting themselves through, especially Michael Shane, who wore the crimson mask. What did bother me was a couple of obvious botches doing some high flying maneuvers. Even the crowd called it out after Frankie Kazarian botched a springboard move on Chris Sabin. That aside, this was still a very good match to watch, with Michael Shane getting a big win. ***3/4"

This match suffered from the problems of the title belt falling a couple times but they packed a lot of action into the match including Michael Shane brutally bleeding in the match. Sabin and Kazarian displayed great chemistry which they usually would in this timeframe and a strong performance from Michael Shane helped elevate this. A good match that laid the foundation for even better Ultimate X matches to come."
