[8.0] "This was a very good match that was only drug down by the lack of build and Russo's interference in the finish."

[6.0] "This was a good title defense and even if it had a convoluted ending, it wasn't as bad as others and had sense. Those two have chemistry, as they have shown on their ROH or 2002 X Division matches. They made some cool sequences, such as Low Ki's chest kicks into a leg sweep by AJ into a somersailt kick by Ki or AJ's counter of the Dragon Clutch on the ropes with a hurricanrana onto the ropes. I liked AJ's Stylin DDT off the apron onto the floor or when he countered a Ki Krusher into a DDT. At the end, Styles snaps and hits some stiff strikes, but Ki locks a cool octopus armbar sumbission, that AJ counters into the german suplex into a front suplex combo. Then AJ goes to the floor, Russo tries to interfere, but Low Ki punches him and puts him on the announcers table. He wants to jumo off the top rope, but he's stopped by the ref. AJ uses this distraction to hit him in the face with the baseball bat and pins him. It was pretty decent, some cool moves, counters and sequences."

[8.0] "Vince Russo comes out with AJ Styles, so you know right off the bat (no pun intended) this won't have a clean finish. Sure enough, the finish sees Styles use a bat to get the win. As far as Russo finishes go, I actually didn't mind this one - it wasn't as ridiculously convoluted as Jarrett's title defenses, and it makes sense that the heel would cheat when he thinks his Championship is in jeopardy. This was a good match overall and miles ahead of the World title defenses TNA had presented up until this point. In fact, you could even make the argument that this was the best World Championship match in TNA history at the time. Towards the end, Low Ki teases putting Vince Russo through a table, but the referee stops him, which is a shame because the crowd popped huge for the set-up and would have come unglued if they actually went through with it."

[8.0] "Great match with a very sour ending. These two always had good chemistry with each other. The result was not in doubt really as Low Ki was in and out a lot with his tours of Japan. The ending was sadly a bit of a blemish but everything leading up to that was good stuff."
