[8.0] "just rewatched it. Nowadays it's nowhere above an 8, since AEW produces banger after banger. 8 is still good! But....Back then, it was the best american womens match and worth the hype and the 5-stars!"
[7.0] "It isn't bad...actually it is very good. But is it as good as everyone says it is? Deserve all the praise it has recieved since the day it happened? I say no to all of those. I feel this math. Is quiet overhyped personally it is just a solid match that has a few basic spots when it comes to these type of matches and some blood in it. Nothing that's over top. (****)"
[8.0] "A really good match that I think would be consider even better if this wasn't during Covid. Rosa and Britt bled a lot and did some really good offense throughout this match. I think people slightly forget how Rosa and Britt aren't the most natural at times against each other and can be a bit clunky. This match is a definitive AEW Dynamite match and one that should be watched if you haven't seen it before. It's the biggest blow off for a women's storyline to that point and what started a whole genre of the AEW Women's All Out Women Hardcore matches. A fun match that is a not as good as I remembered from when I watched live but still holds up well! ***3/4"
[4.0] "This was pretty... meh. It's a rather slow match that lacks a lot in energy and intensity and doesn't have any particularly outstanding or innovative spots or something. They didn't even do a spot in the crowd to at least hype the people up. Add to that that they are hardly doing any of the "traditional" wrestling, bar very few moves on objects, and there isn't much to really like about this one. I understand that there is maybe some historical significance to it for the AEW's women's division but other that it doesn't offer much to the viewer imo."
[5.0] "This was fine I guess, I've heard people say this was one of the best women's AEW matches, and when I watched it, I went "Really? This is the best? " I mean a few moments were good, but it felt botchy at times. I can see why others love it, but for me, this just wasn't it"
[6.0] "I am not the biggest hardcore fan so moves onto thumbtacks aren't my favourite, but that doesn't take away from the quality of this as an addition to the genre. There was cool stuff in this but I didn't love it. I can't personally understand putting this beyond the 'great' category."
[9.0] "The D M D showed up on this night. It was a great match that finally got the women's division some respect. Up until this point, they were kind of ridiculed by others in the industry. But Britt Baker got her moment in this, her best match to date."
[8.0] "A fun match. This wasn't a technical masterpiece or anything like that, but I still liked it. It's pretty much a spotfest that tries to be good by having blood and doing "extreme" spots, and to me, it worked well enough."
[9.0] "[9] Match that made me a wrestling fan. Not a perfect 10 returning to it, but still very, very good. Paced better than most hardcore matches I've seen and I'm not ashamed of this being my favorite for a long time at all"
[6.0] "I feel like I watched the wrong match because no way this is considered one of the women's matches in AEW. Blood and TLC can make any match not boring, but it did nothing to go beyond that. The Death Valley Driver and the Stomp by Rosa looked good though."
[6.0] "This is very overrated and the Britt Baker blade shot to the camera is clearly just done for a moment but to her credit at least she was the first woman in the company to do it while Tay, The Bunny and Ruby desperately tried to copy it those botch fest tag matches. Its a pretty good match with great work from Rosa in particular but no more than 3 stars"
[9.0] "I love the smile that Britt Baker gives the camera while her face is all bloodied, and the crazed look in Thunder Rosa's eyes after she kicks the ladder into Britt's face. Epic stuff."
[8.0] "Gnarly as hell. These women absolutely hated each other and they showed it. I wish there had been a "Reba hits Britt with the crutch* accident so we could move on from that, but everything between Rosa and Britt was sick."
[5.0] "I'm probably going to catch some heat for this, but this match wasn't doing it for me. I have no problem with women doing these kinds of matches, but I feel like this wasn't the time to do it in this rivalry. This was only their second one on one matchup with one another, and the stipulation, and the match that followed, seemed like it would end the feud, but as we saw after this, it didn't. As such, it sort of dampens the match's impact, and the match itself, while shocking (which is, I'm sure, what they were going for), seemed like they were throwing together everything they could for shock value. They started at 100 mph and it seemed like they were rushing things, seeing as how the match was only 16 minutes long, and in retrospect, hardcore matches like this in AEW are 30 minute epics. As such, they seemed pressed to just do the most extreme things, and just move on to the next, like they were just going through the motions of pre-planned spots instead of making it feel like a real fight full of hatred and malice. On top of that, I've never really found Britt Baker to be that good of a wrestler; Thunder Rosa outclasses her imo. If you enjoyed this match, that's fine, and I can kind of understand. I just don't see how this match has the same Meltzer star rating (4.75) as the highest rated Kurt Angle match. 3/5"
[7.0] "Brutal match, and exactly what these two were going for, they nailed. But at the end of the day, not my style of match, and two wresters I'm not terribly attached too, especially in the present. 3.75 Stars."
[8.0] "Wow, this was brutal. Proper hardcore viciousness by both women. Could it have been smoother, a bit more crisp? Sure. Especially the opening sequence, that could have been improved upon. A more refined story told in the ring with a few breathing moments to enhance the drama and brutality of the match would have elevated this into classic territory. It felt a bit rushed. That thumbtacks bump by Britt, they should have milked it as much as they could. It was a huge spot in the match but bizarrely, they carried on like it was some random backdrop or something. If the match had better pacing, it'd have been near perfect. That said, both Thunder Rosa and Britt Baker excelled in this terrific match. Star-making performances. They should have achieved a whole lot more after this. They gave it their all - showed all their heart, desire, and toughness. Putting their bodies on the line, in this environment, is remarkable. Britt's blade job has to be mentioned. It was sick. It looked twisted. She looked like pure devil smiling with blood all over her face. Brilliant theatrics. Overall, a spectacular match and more importantly, a five-star effort by both wrestlers."
[9.0] "What a great match. Maybe 2 or 3 little things could have been done better, especially at the beginning, but the rest is great. The use of blood is very well done, especially with Baker. The pins and the finish increase the quality of the match. (4*3/4)"
[9.0] "This is probably the last truly great Lights Out match. Britt and Rosa went to war in this match, beating eachother bloody in one of the most brutal and violent matches in the history of American women's wrestling. It also gets a bonus point for the visual of a bloody Britt Baker laughing into the camera like an absolute maniac. Very good match, despite being a bit sloppy at times. ****1/2"
[8.0] "Some spots didn't look very good and there it was a bit sloppiness here and there but the crazy was still a great match: the blood added a crazy visual and the final minutes were excellent. Both women delivered good peromance and looked very tough. 8/10 - 4*/5*"
"I've read some critics saying this is not a wrestling match and the only thing they did is just throwing weapons to each other is not true at all. Thunder Rosa's dropkick Rebel to the table and powerbomb Britt to thumbtacks are satisfying. Britt's Lockjaw to Rosa but she rolled up on the thumbtacks so Britt had to let go was intense and fair enough. Both women wrestled with great pace and strength (god i wish Britt still wrestle like this today), if there was a bigger crowd it would be so incredible. JR on commentary kinda ruined a bit for me cuz he repeated several times he didn't want to see this (women bleeding) and it was so annoying."
[9.0] "Amazing match between Baker and Rosa here which never really caught on with some fans and that's totally understandable as it's not a style that will appeal to anyone, it's a pure hardcore match like you see a lot of elsewhere but I'm obliged to add a bonus point and raise my rating as high as possible as the meaning behind this match is huge. One of the few times Tony Khan got it right with his women's division, he saw they had good chemistry in their first encounter so he capitalised on that and gave them the opportunity to main event a Dynamite (it was one of only two women's matches to close the show in three years) with a stipulation like this at the end and he's right because my god they delivered. No one and I mean no one expected this, at the time we thought it would be a quality brawl with some cool spots but not a massacre with blood everywhere, a lot of thumbtacks and crazy spots like this. Seeing two women kicking each other's asses in a Lights Out match, being super creative, executing things well and taking such dangerous bumps, it commands respect and that's what makes this match successful, the message behind it. They didn't replicate that magic in their Steel Cage match this year, but it's still one of the best women's matches we've seen in the United States in history."
[9.0] "Best women's match of 2021. The match that made me a fan of Baker. These women put their lives on the table many times in here and it was ridiculous yet amazing. I'm not a fan of wrestlers risking their lives like here and in Moxley vs. Omega I and III but it definitely adds to the matches overall. This is where Baker was truly made a star. ****1/2"
[9.0] "This match is so bizarre to reflect on, but I had to write something about it after seeing how much Britt Baker (and honestly Thunder Rosa to some extent) have since regressed. It's not even like this was just smoke and mirrors: both Baker and Rosa were damn good workers in this match. They worked stiff, the spots were creative as hell, and the match was the perfect culmination of their rivalry up to that point. Looking back, this may be the strangest anomaly I can imagine. I just have no idea what happened to the great upside we saw from Baker in this match. She has to find this drive again if AEW insists on making her the face of the division. ****1/2"
[8.0] "There were early mistakes with Rosa performing a running nothing on Baker while she was in the chair on the outside, as well as a suplex that caught air and a bit of the 1st rope rather than a chair placed on the 2nd rope. The match really picked up around the time Baker brought the tacks in, and I thought the tables were used well, Baker's offense including kicks and stomps were very good. Visuals with the blood and tacks was well done. Both came out looking tough as anything. Probably not the best AEW Women's match like some people are saying, personally Deeb vs. Riho is that. But well deserving of the main event spot."
[8.0] "Such a great main event. Both women had very good chemistry which led to most of the spots being delivered crisp and made an impact. There were some misfires and it makes sense because of the utmost pressure they had - main event spotlight, a graphic stipulation and the lack of a huge crowd. They were suppressed by the ambiance but made use of most of it to their advantage and ended up contesting a great hardcore fight. Britt turned into a megastar she's right now after this while Rosa came into the huge spotlight thriving after this showstopper performance. 4.25 out of 5 stars!"
[8.0] "Brit bled so much, she got over like Jesus in this. She was just on during this and outperformed Thunder Rosa. This match was, like, all blade job, out of which came a sense of desperation throughout everything that followed. BB was very believable in her performance. There was this spot off the turnbuckle onto the ladder where TR didn't jump onto directly. She planted her foot on the ground first (nearly snapping her leg in the process) to lose momentum, which pretty much stopped any force of the impact. There was also the "rolling onto the thumbtacks to break up the submission/pin" spot that physically didn't make sense. Overall, a memorable gimmick match, but definitely overrated."
[9.0] "As hardcore as any wrestling match can get. Baker although a little sloppy was the star of the match. Both women took some crazy bumps and some insane punishments. It was violent and very creative. Despite being a gorefest, they also made clever use of weapons and most of the things they did made sense. I am not a fan of hard-core matches but I enjoyed this match a lot. Great match. ****1/2"
[8.0] "Just a really great showing here. A more graphic match than when they brought Gage in primarily because Gage had nothing to prove. Baker and Rosa on the other hand had more pressure tonight than I think anyone would've ever wished upon them. The world is in lockdown, and the men of AEW are trucking along as ever, but what about the women's division. Shida is mostly treading water waiting for the big 365, and the TBS Title hasn't been invented yet. Up against AEW's most important storyline finally starting to form, Baker and Rosa have taken it upon themselves to keep the division aglow. And that division glows crimson. Plenty of great spots here, as I'm sure you know. I don't like to just reiterate spots from matches cause that's obvious from actually just sitting down and watching the match. The spots are great, and what comes of them is greater. Baker bleeding buckets is probably one of the best visuals AEW have ever been fortunate enough to get on camera. She looks deranged, stoic, and confident all in one. It's Baker's debutante ball, and Rosa instructs her how to waltz."
[7.0] "A really fun and good match by both women. I don't think it has particularly aged well due to the taped nature, them slowly going from spot to spot and some exchanges and moves looking really rough in execution. I think the match is held in such high regard, because of what it represented rather than it being a great wrestling match."
[6.0] "Solides Match.
[10.0] "It begins in chaos, with fast and engaging action. The audience intones the Thunderstruck chorus honoring Rosa, making the atmosphere epic. The two athletes are at war. A curb stomp on the metal stairs makes Rosa bleed, and a superplex on a multitude of metal chairs puts the icing on the cake. Meanwhile, AEW champion Hikaru Shida is watching the match. Rosa hits Baker with a corner dropkick using a ladder, and an image, a memory, comes back to her mind. Baker is bleeding again, but this time her whole face is covered right into her eyes in the so-called crimson mask made of blood, in almost poetic punishment. Blood can dramatically increase adrenaline, and both athletes are covered in it. The few mistakes in this match make it even more brutal, adding a dose of reality to the viewer thinking it's all safe. Later in the match, Baker suffers a powerbomb on several pins. A fire thunder driver on a table just outside the ring closes the match, while both athletes are momentarily stuck in the table. A match to remember forever, with Thunder Rosa bursting into tears at the sound of the bell."
[10.0] "Rough, emotional and bloody. I've seen this one like 4 times now. Tells a great story and a great blowoff. It manages the hard part of a hardcore match of selling the emotion and the struggle as real. I really can't wait for the follow up."
[9.0] "Saw the buzz behind the match and decided to check it out as part of my scattered AEW catch-up, and wow. There's a ton of hatred and urgency and believable hardcore sloppiness here. This is how you make an Unsanctioned match work, where a match was never for sport and always for just hurting people. They just keep trying to kill each other back and forth, with Rebel in Britt's corner setting up weapons only to get neutralized by a table. It amounts to a hardcore spotfest but there's enough selling and malice and blood mixed in with the spots that it feels personal, and Rosa just breaking down crying after the win locks that in. The performances of Baker and Rosa turn what would be a pretty basic match on a spot-for-spot basis and makes it a great blow-off. Rolling Britt into the tacks to force the submission to be broken was really nice too. Not sure if it's as amazing as the star rating says, but it's in the same realm as Rok-C/Alize and Kamille/Hirsch in regards to the best Women's matches I've seen in 2021, and in terms of putting out a statement on what women can do if you give them the chance in this industry, it's more important than those matches. ~****1/4"
[10.0] "Arguably the best match in AEW Dynamite's brief history. These two had an Unsanctioned Match and reminded televised professional wrestling what that's supposed to mean. One of the most violent and downright vicious matches I've seen in a long time. For whatever moments there may have been that lacked polish, these two made up for it with storytelling and brutality. 5 stars, 10 out of 10. Not only for its quality, but for its importance to finally getting AEW's Women's Division the television opportunities it was capable of receiving."
[4.0] "The inclusion of blood and thumbtacks to a woman's plunder match doesn't add much for me, or excuse some of the glaring problems I had with the match, namely it just being a bunch of contrived spots capped off with poor selling from both women."
[7.0] "Goddamn this match was fucking radical. Up there with some of the best women's matches I've ever seen for sure. They weren't wrong about this being a brutal match either. It gets said a lot but it's always been true (at least for me) but good god does the usage of blood REALLY elevate the stakes and investment in a match. Especially with the rivalry between Britt and Rosa, this match needed blood for sure."
[10.0] "One of the best hardcore match i have ever seen. And i watched CZW, BJW, ECW, and GCW.. but this match standout the most because some of the shit that this woman did, 90% of wrestler (men or woman) wont even dare trying the stuff they did. But most of all, the story was there. and it was probably the best woman match in north america."
[10.0] "This was fantastic , without a doubt the best women's match in AEW women's wrestling history . If there was a doubt if AEW women's division was improving , I am sure this clears all those doubts . Britt looked like a totally different wrestler here , never expected this from her . It was bloody , nasty and violent and there was a blood bath too as both were dripping blood all over the mat . The match started with a bang as both got straight to business . Reba with the crutch to allow Britt to capitalize and she does and a airway crash on the ramp for a 2 count . The rest of the spots in this match were executed brilliantly like the curb stomp on the steel steps and the chair by Britt , the driver on the ladder and the dropkick onto the face of Britt with the ladder connecting first in a nasty manner and the powerbomb onto the thumbtacks , the sequence where Britt has the lockjaw on Rosa and she just turns over Britt into the laid down thumbtacks to break the hold showing great ring awareness . Also , the brawling was spot on and the strikes were high impact . The finish with the driver through the table from the apron was the perfect way to end this war . I liked how Rosa took out Reba as she could have played a integral factor in shifting the momentum towards Britt but was taken down after a dropkick into the tables and out for good. Other than that , the daily's place crowd provided a suitable atmosphere and energy for the match with good crowd response and not generic like it usually is . The fire and intensity was there and the pacing was marvelously managed . It had all the momentum as well and only a few sloppy moments restrict it from being a 5 star perfection but this is still a women's wrestling classic nonetheless. The story and psychology was good yet plain and simple and that is what so great about it. Just two women willing to put their body on the line , their career in jeopardy to avenge for the boiling hatred for each other . this can be supported by the fact on hos they got to fighting straight away . the striking and the spots aid this statement as well. The match had great flow , direction , tempo and synchrony . This was amazing . Credit to both women here . Incredible wrestling content . ****3/4"
[9.0] "This did live up to the hype. The whole thing was pretty brutal. They know how to use weapons properly and build up the match well. It flows well without many dull moments. Props to them. Easily the best women match in America in long time."
[5.0] "This match has been massively overrated because one, it's AEW. Two, because of the gender of the two wrestlers involved. We all know women can wrestle and can have better matches than most men (Look at Mayu Iwatani right now) but this is not a good example of a groundbreaking women's match. I hate to go all Cornette about it, but this match felt like every hardcore match over the last few decades except the spots weren't executed as strongly. The first half was super lame with zero impact behind the moves or flow. Once Rosa got a crimson mask, it got better. There were some good spots and very nice strikes + selling from Baker. Sadly some of their big spots lacked the proper technique (Rosa's DVD comes to mind) and none of it felt special to me. I preferred the Moxley/Omega match because there was more creativity and passion behind their spots and sequences. This was a decent match but i struggle to call it good. Far from a MOTYC when there have been matches like Shingo/Tana, Ospreay/Okada and even Dunne/Balor if you like WWE style matches. **3/4"
[6.0] "Good plunder match for a TV match but there's been better on Dynamite and they do them quite often so it didn't much phase me. Not very cohesive other than just going from spot to spot but that's pretty standard for a hardcore match."
[9.0] "Sehr brutales, starkes Match. Hardcore Elemente wissen zu gefallen, die normalen Wrestling Moves sind gut ausgeführt, Spannend bis zum Schluss. Unagenehm gute Spots (Thumbs) Britt Baker kommt hier absolut Badass raus aus dem Match und hat wirklich den nächsten Schritt gemacht! **** 1/2"
[5.0] "I had problems with this before the bell even rang. First, in kayfabe and out a promoter can have any reason for booking a match, but that doesn't make it the right choice or a compelling reason. This feud did not warrant this stipulation as it consisted solely of sneak attacks post-match which happens on every Dynamite, so why aren't all these other people getting lights out matches? Anyways, I say that because this whole match felt like putting the cart before the horse, I just didn't buy into the drama they were going for and the match itself was rather sloppy and filled with spots that have been done ad nauseum. Kudos to both women on the effort, but this didn't work for me."
[9.0] "The best match in the AEW women's division since day one. Solid moves of Thunder Rosa and great dedication of Britt Baker, sincerely respect to her. (****3/4)"
[8.0] "A great showing from these two ladies. Inarguably the top 2 women in AEW's roster right now putting on one hell of a match. My only real issues were that the match felt like a loosely connected series of spots, and that a few of the moves felt fake (e. g Britt curb-stomping Rosa on the steps, the final table spot, etc)."
[5.0] "Women can wrestle and do hardcore matches. But this battle is clearly not the one that needs to be used as an example. And it is especially annoying that Meltzer rated really great matches at 3. 5. If you want to see a good hardcore women's match, you better watch Combat Toyoda vs. Megumi Kudo. Rosa and Baker just did moves and spots shitty connected with each other. Sorry, but I'm not typical AEW fan to rate moves, and I'm not Meltzer to give AEW matches the most undeserved high ratings just because they lick his ass. A very boring match that was something only in a couple of moments, but they didn't save it from being bad. One of the most overrated matches I've ever seen. I'm sorry for the really great women's fights. I wonder if the exact same match took place in indie promotion, would Meltzer have rated it at least 3?"
[6.0] "Great effort from both women, though I do think the actual wrestling was pretty rough in spots, but that's excusable in a hardcore match. I don't think this is as wild as some are saying since these spots have been done before but the new thing they added to the mix was, I suppose, women getting color which your mileage may very on as far as how important/impressive that is."
[6.0] "So uhh this 'unsanctioned' or 'lights out' gimmick doesn't work when this match looks and is treated literally the exact same as any other AEW match. Ref, commentators, audience members, and even the RING were all still present, so pretending this was somehow a 'special' match rings completely hollow. This was just a generic hardcore match through and through, even down to the actual action itself. Everything was very generic and pedestrian in the first half. There were some decent ladder spots but nothing we haven't seen a million times before, and without any real urgency or energy to make it feel special. Both women worked hard, but it only resulted in an 'alright' match that feels completely lost in the sea of other hardcore matches that AEW and various other promotions have had for the last 30+ years. It's not even like all their spots were 100% brutal, since a few honestly looked a bit weak. This match really just shows how overrated the AEW women's roster is. You can't tell me this would have a 8. 80+ and a ****3/4 WON rating if Moxley and Omega put on the exact same style of match. To be fair, that match would still be overrated, but definitely not as highly. And to be honest, I enjoyed the controversial Moxley vs Omega from Revolution more, and thought it had more creativity and 'hard-fought battle' vibes, even considering the massive final-explosion botch. If we're just celebrating that finally women wrestlers are allowed to have hardcore matches as unrestrained as this, then sure, that's great, but that doesn't automatically make the match special. ***"
[10.0] "This wasn't just a good hardcore match for women. If men had a match of this quality it would be highly praised as well. But the fact that it was 2 women on a national stage going to levels they previously weren't allowed to go makes this all time classic. Women have had bloody matches before (see Hokuto/Kandori) but not on a stage like this before. And they delivered to the fullest extent. To me it ranks up with Bayley/Banks in Brooklyn as the one of the best North American women's matches I've ever seen. It's not a perfect match, but the historical significance more than makes up for it. ****3/4"
[10.0] "Allow me to consider this as one of the best women? s fight I? ve ever seen ! The most brutal war with a perfect storytelling ruling all through it! Britt Baker & Thunder Rosa will definitely go down as the ones who helped the entire AEW women? s division to elevate itself forever and I? m not afraid of saying this ! I believed it would be a hell of a fight but ladies exceeded our expectations delivering a brutal and a total carnage of a matchup using thumbtacks making things hottest namely with badass Britt Baker bleeding all over her face ! Both women ruled the game all of the praised received were absolutely deserved to this point, huge congrats for Rosa & Baker !"
[6.0] "The best match of Britt Baker's career, as you would expect in a pre-taped gimmick match in a blood feud, to be fair. A few botches, down on last week, but clear room for improvement, and basic fundamentals like running the ropes need to be worked on. Credit to both for working very hard and going above and beyond to put on a show."
[10.0] "Completely blown away. Britt Baker going way up in my estimation, taking some sick looking bumps and covered in blood. Easily the best womens division match in AEW history."
[8.0] "Fantastically brutal, although it does perhaps suffer in coming so soon after AEW's barbed wire deathmatch. These two put themselves through hell - there's some nasty spots, some of which admittedly aren't all that creative, but they certainly work. This succeeds in a big way just through sheer attrition and bloodshed; both competitors are dripping with claret and look vicious as a result, really strengthening the drama of the match. Fairly solid psychology for a spot-heavy hardcore match, and Reba was on her best behaviour at ringside, so this was pretty great all in all. Wince-inducing, gripping stuff."
[10.0] "My favourite match in AEW history so far, a bloody masterpiece that proved both women's grit and skill in the ring. Will hopefully be the first of many main events for these exceptionally talented women on the AEW roster."
[9.0] "Absoluter Home Run! Der erste Main Event der Frauen und er hat absolut delivered. Durch den Cut von Britt Baker bekam das ganze eine ungeahnte dramatik mit unglaublichen Bildern, die wir noch häufig sehen werden. Härte, Brutalität, dramatik war alles vorhanden und beide haben sich richtig reingehängt, um hier was besonderes zu zeigen. Stark!"
[8.0] "Definitely the best women's match in AEW history. Girls took some beating and I was excited most of the time. Cool dangerous and violent spots. Technically it was very average, but it was really spectacular show. I recommend watching it."
[10.0] "There was a great women's plunder fight a week ago between Charli Evans and Jessica Troy which is worth checking out on YouTube, but this was every bit as great as that match was, and with AEW's production, put it over the top to get the full 10. In fact, I'll say this goes along with Kenny Omega vs. PAC as the greatest match in Dynamite history. Baker and Rosa displayed incredible hatred towards each other, and would stop at nothing to destroy each other. Plenty of juice and wanton violence, logical moves and reactions, and a very satisfying finish. Both women are definitely more over through having endured this war."
[8.0] "Blood usually always boosts matches like this, and such was the case here as both women rocked the crimson mask & created some pretty memorable scenes with it. And by all means it was indeed a damn awesome, big-bomb-driven grudge match; really nice use of all the weapons, a couple of great bigger spots, and most of the standard offense, such as Britt's forearm strikes before that superplex, looked real good as well. A hit in every way, pretty much."
[9.0] "Getting me to really enjoy a lights out/no rules match can be difficult but they did it. Fantastic match which wasn't perfect in terms of execution of moves but that only added to the grittiness and feel of it. One of the best AEW women's matches but I do wish they had saved it for a PPV"
[6.0] "I don't understand the hype around this match. I am certainly pleased when people understand that men's and women's wrestling aren't different from each other, and the quality of the fight doesn't depend on the gender, but there was really nothing special about this match. Standard single match in BJW. The quality of the moves was average to say the least, Rosa jumping from the ropes to her feet in front of the ladder spot made the high-risk part pointless. And this applies to a lot of things. The meaning of hardcore matches is that wrestlers risk their bodies to show their endurance and prove superiority, or the reverse side of the coin - they get pleasure from violence and for them it is the same habitat. Baker and Rosa didn't show either, which, as with Omega and Moxley, was more like an ordinary match with bells and whistles. I will lie if I say that I didn't like it at all, no, in some moments it was quite a good match, I was pleased with the attitude to specific cruel spots - although the performance left much to be desired, the selling was quite natural. I didn't like the emotions, because it seemed that Rosa was ready to destroy Rebel much more willingly than the DMD itself, and this dynamic for a hardcore match seemed inappropriate to me, it literally delayed the moment when the match could become just good. For me, that moment never came. Regarding Meltzer's words about one of the best women's matches in North America... This is an insult. Tessa Blanchard's match against Gail Kim was more impressive, for example. Jordynne Grace's match against Taya Valkyrie was more interesting. You don't even have to talk about the WWE classics of the Women's Revolution. There are also many interesting and worthy matches on the independent stage. I don't understand this rating, and even though it was not bad - it's not even the best match Baker (***)."
[7.0] "This was a very good hardcore match. I don't think it's the banger it's made out to be and Baker still is an average at best wrestler, but some of the spots were awesome, the finish was great and in this enviroment, they did very good. 7/10 breads"
[9.0] "I watched a lot of ECW in the 90s, so I like these kinds of matches when they're done well, but find them tedious when they're not worked well or hold back too much and don't take full advantage of the gimmick. This was incredible, and one of the best matches of this type that I've ever seen. Thunder Rosa is one of the best woman wrestlers working in North America today, and Britt Baker has come so far in the past year it's unreal. I won't say Baker is quite at "can have a good match with anyone" level (Thunder Rosa is though), but she's definitely gotten to the point where she can consistently deliver a **** match with good opponents, and matches on this level someone as great as Thunder Rosa. My jaw was on the floor watching this. They went farther with the hardcore spots than I ever thought possible coming into the match. This was the best "falls count anywhere" match in the history of AEW, regardless of gender."
[6.0] "It was a good match, easily the best match of Britt? s career. The blood was cool but aside from it, I didn? t found this match amazing. But I would give them credit for taking such a damage. Edit: I watch this match again for two times and I think that I? ll change my rating from 7 to 6. There were many spots that looked botchy like the ladder spot and the chair spot when they were outside the ring."
[9.0] "Awesome match between these two. The division still needs some development, but they proved on that night that they can put on a show as great as any other. Bravo!"
[9.0] "The best women's match I have seen in a long ass time. This was bloody, brutal, and ugly, but in the best way possible. I love the extreme nature of it. Both women willing to do everything to win the match, such a simple story to tell. Easily the best AEW women's match ever, and in contention for the best Dynamite match ever as well. [****1/2]"
[9.0] "My favorite Dynamite match up to this point. Felt like a real grudge match that justified the stipulation, and both of them went all out to prove they deserved the main event spot. Hopefully this leads to more time and segments for the AEW women's division."
[10.0] "This came off like a real fight between two embittered rivals. What an excellent blow-off. This was more satisfying than both Omega vs. Moxley matches on PPV. Tremendous effort and execution by both Baker and Rosa. This match gives hope and promise that AEW can deliver satisfying women's programs. The best--the bloodiest--women's hardcore match seen in America promoted by a major company."
[9.0] "The most despised women's division in the USA has delivered the best matches so far this year, I applaud these ladies for the spectacle and AEW that for several months has shown a remarkable improvement."
[10.0] "Good god what a match. 5 stars from me, and in my personal top 3 of best ever womens matches. I didnt think Baker could have a match this good, to be honest. Rosa as always looked like a million bucks, but Baker came out of this looking like the biggest star in all of AEW. This was one of the most violent womens matches Ive ever seen, and it was definitely the most violent/bloody to air on American television. Ive never seen a women bleed as much as Baker did. Props to both women again for the amazing match. I highly recommend it if you havent seen it."
[10.0] "4. 5 Stars - One of the best TV matches of the year. This was Britt Baker star making performance to show how far she's come since joining AEW as her character work has been great. Both women bought there A game for such an occasion as first Women's dynamite and lived up to the height and exceed all expectations that fued set up. One of the most brutal and violent women match seen in US and definitely the best AEW Women's match."
[10.0] "The most brutal women's match ever televised in America. This match was a full on deathmatch and a lot bloodier than most AEW men's death and lights out matches get. Just a classic grudge match, both women worked really hard and in the end they delivered. Britt got over huge in a loss, the scenes of her covered in blood are going to make her into a huge star to come, I feel."
[7.0] "Overall, a good, really unique match and the highlight of the show. Incredible effort from both women. But... I think there were too extremely violent and high risk spots happening here. Insane spot after insane spot and kicking out after each one really diminishes each move. And some of the moves looked a little sloppy. A few less extreme spots, and more focus in telling in ring psychology instead of getting ready for the next spot, and this could have potentially been a match of the year candidate."
[10.0] "That came out of nowhere, but it was awesome. What a career-defining moment for both women, who gave their all and made the first women's main event on Dynamite unforgettable for all eternity. Damn, the crimson mask of Britt looked great. I don't need senseless blading, but this feud and this match warranted it. Red means green, indeed."
[10.0] "Fantastic match, one of the best I've seen this year. Bloody and brutal, exactly what a grudge match should be and exactly the kind of match I've been hoping the women would get to do. Awesome stuff."
[8.0] "Sacred fight to finish a big story between the two. Violence and brutality were the key words in this fight. Super seeling from both sides, the two have proven to be on top of AEW's women's division. Congratulations but above all SIGN me Thunder Rosa. Rating: ****"
[9.0] "Both these women killed it! (and each other). This was something you don't see too often in this part of the wrestling universe and it was really intense, brutal, and entertaining. Britt Baker seemed like she came out with something to prove and delivered, as did Thunder Rosa and even Rebel. A more than deserving main event. The table spots were good, and the image of Britt's face covered in blood was very impactful. I think this match is going to be iconic in AEW history, especially in terms of the women's division."
[9.0] "This match is probably the most brutal women's match that I have ever seen. Britt and Rosa deserve all the love and respect in the world for making the match so worthwhile and entertaining. Hopefully this leads to women main eventing more and more with crazier stipulations. (****1/4)"
[9.0] "Incredible, best AEW woman's match ever. These two women proved that they are willing to do anything and everything to destroy each other. Thunder Rosa proved her ability and Britt Baker showed us her progress. Ruthless but attractive, bloody but exciting, I like this one."
[10.0] "One of the best women's matches from this year. The intentisity of both mixed with all the cool and brutal spots are what makes this match great. I didn't think this would've been as good as it was, just because I'm not a big fan of Britt, but she was awesome and played the blood on her face really well. Amazing match. ****1/2"
[9.0] "It was one of the best matches in women's wrestling history I have ever seen, congratulations to both of these women. Especially Thunder rosa is so talented I cant wait to see her win the aew women's world championship."
[7.0] "The first half of the match was a little lame. Things picked up once both were bleeding and it managed to feel quite intense from then on. This was probably Baker's best match so far but it was also a stipulation designed to hide her weaknesses. Going through spots like this is a world apart from working a regular wrestling match and, let's be honest, blood is a shortcut to drama (not that I object). With that said, you've got to give Baker credit for being able to look the part when she's covered in blood because she can sell it quite well and ups the intensity, and I did like that double curb stomp onto the chair. I don't see this as anything close to a MOTYC when there are matches like Shingo vs Cobb/Shingo vs Tanahashi out there already, but it was a pretty strong ending to a weekly TV show."
[7.0] "Good spectacle but they were sloppy and slow, and taking a ladder to the midsection and then coming up bleeding from the forehead was enough to take me out of the match until they saved it with the finish. ***3/4"
[10.0] "A zero for this match. I've seen everything. This match was incredible. It is for sure not the greatest women's match of all time (anyone seeing that clearly has never watched an All Japan Women's match in their life) but it will certainly go down as one of the most memorable and is without a doubt the best AEW Women's match ever. And that's not faint praise; the women's division, for all its flaws, has produced some terrific matches and in the last month alone has seen several bouts (the six woman joshi tag, Riho-Deeb, Rosa-Baker I, Emi Sakura-VENY, Emi-Yuka, Ryo-Nyla Rose, Ryo-Shida) that you could argue were worthy of being called the best. This was on another level though. Baker and Rosa just beat each other to a pulp, the use of weapons was more creative than even some men's matches and boy did they have no trouble getting color. Perhaps not everything was 100% smooth (like the top rope Death Valley Driver) but who cares; not all fights are smooth and this match felt like a fight up until Rosa finished Baker off with one of the gnarliest finishers through a table you'll ever see. It honestly should make both women into stars. Rosa was already close to that and her great performance here will kind of get overshadowed because people expect her to be great. But this was without a doubt her career highlight and even more so Baker, who's bloody face towards the end will be the defining image of this match. Magnificent. Maybe it doesn't wind up a MOTYC but as of now it for sure is."
[8.0] "There's something oddly attractive about women letting blood run down their face and acting like they couldn't care less. Maybe I just have weird tastes. That aside, this was legitimately special. Both women go to great lengths - the kind that WWE wouldn't dare tread - for one of the most memorable matches to air on AEW television thus far. It's not so clear early on, but once color comes into play, everything is elevated: from the body language and selling exhibited as Britt Baker continued to bleed profusely, to the already brutal spots holding that much more weight throughout the second half of the match. It might not be the best, though perhaps the most important, at least in recent memory. Congratulations AEW, your women's division delivered what is already being called a MOTYC. Don't screw this up. ****"
[7.0] "Good match, with some defaults. Some moves have no impact (i. e the drath valley driver) and the beginning was really slow and rather boring. However, the blood and the objects permit to finally have a good result."
[8.0] "Great match, with awesome spots and a level of brutality that is deeply uncommon in women matches. That being said, I don't see it as a top 10 women's match in America like a large part of the fanbase. The execution had some flaws if you compare it to 4HW, Io or Asuka matches, and I'm not sure the storyline warranted an unsanctioned match, which should be the ultimate stipulation and only occur in white hot storylines. I feel the storyline would have better suited to a more classical Falls Count Anywhere. ****1/4"
[10.0] "What an absolutely incredibly well done match. Legit as time has passed I've considered this is likely the best match to ever happen on Dynamite. Not only did it measure up to the like of Omega/PAC and the Street Fight in terms of quality, but it also was a huge moment as the first women's main event and it delivered this was phenomenally paced and Britt and Rosa killed each other. Serious kudos to them. As much as I loved Mox/Omega, I think these women managed to top their Lights Out match. One of the best American women's matches ever *****"
[6.0] "Great effort from both wrestlers. The intensity, emotion and barbarism of it really wrapped up a great feud well. The problems with this match were that a few of the spots were off, and Britt was a little unstable on her feet, both of which can be put down to adrenaline. TR's senton on the outside, TR threw herself into that ladder flatliner, and the final table spot looked like TR took the brunt of it. The really scary one was the DVD onto the ladder. TR came off the second rope with Britt on her shoulders, and landed on one leg before hitting it, terrifying. The tacks powerbomb and the superplex on chairs were both great. These matches often come down to executing big spots and they nailed a lot of them, but not all of them."
[10.0] "This is without a doubt one of the best women's matches ever in America and will be remembered for a long time. They worked like they had a point to prove, beat the hell out of each other, bled all over the place and took some downright nasty bumps to blow-off a feud in the most brutal way possible. There were moments that were sloppy, but they didn't detract from the match at all and if anything enhanced the story of them both fighting for their lives, almost on instinct from the amount of punishment they'd taken. Special kudos to Britt Baker who wasn't good at all at the start of Dynamite but has been easily the most improved member of the whole AEW roster even through a broken leg and broken nose. ****3/4"
[7.0] "Hardcore matchs is not something i really like, i felt more disgusted than enjoying myself. Nontheless, hats off to both of them, they did go all the way and comes out as total badass of it."
[7.0] "good match and the ladies delivered in spades, not my type of match at all but credit where credit is due the girls but there bodies on the line, some very sloppy spots drag this match down a bit, best match on the show by a a mile, but definitely overrated (***3/4) meltzer will almost certainly give this 5 stars"
[8.0] "One of the best matches in the AEW Womens Division. Rosa & Baker are so good and both are future Champions in AEW. The spots looked awesome (most of the time) and Bloody Britt Baker is something else. (**** 1/4)"
[8.0] "It wasn't picture perfect spot-for-spot, but my word was this match GREAT. Britt Baker is basically the most improved wrestler of all time, and she bled like a stuck-pig to put this match and Thunder Rosa over. What an absolute mess, in the best possible way. By far the best women's match that AEW has yet promoted. ****¼ If you enjoyed this, I would highly suggest Charli Evans vs Jessica Troy from PWA's recent PPV."
[9.0] "As a wrestling match, I think that I would give this a high 8. What pushes it into 9 (and close to 10) in my opinion is, this was unlike anything I've ever seen before in mainstream women's wrestling. Britt Baker seriously reminded me of Mick Foley at points, which is a sentence I never thought I would write in my life. These women killed each other, to the point of it being kind of uncomfortable, while also having a REALLY good match. This was by far the best AEW's women's division has ever looked, and these two are stars. Even a 9 feels too low."
[8.0] "Credit where it's due, that was the best women's match in AEW history. It was also the most brutal women's match I may have seen to date. Rosa has been great for a while now but I didn't realize Britt had this kind of match in her. She showed some promise in the indies but this was the best match of her career. This match was shockingly brutal for a women's match, lived up to the stipulation, had tons of brutal spots, especially with the tacks, and a fitting ending. AEW has a lot of work still left to do with regards to booking the division with respect, but this was an incredible match that deserves its props. No, this wasn't a 10/10, but it deserves an 8 at least. ****"
[10.0] "Most brutal womens match in North America that Ive ever seen. Britt is the most improved wrestler of the last 5 years and Rosa is the best womens wrestler in the world right now. Cannot wait until Rosa can finally sign with aew and cant wait for Britt to finally win the belt."
[10.0] "This was fantastic from both competitor, it was the best match of the night, worthy of the main event status, and one of the most intense bouts in AEW's short history. Britt looked like a maniac, while Thunder Rosa proves once again that she is probably the best in the decision and one of the best in the world. The final spot was brutal, but Baker looks good in defeat, given how much she endured."
