[3.0] "This could be so much more. They teased us. And continued doing that for the whole match. Why make it a street fight and have all this bells and whistles if you're not going to be true to it. I get Brock is a beast who don't need to use weapons to destroy his opponents but he could have used something rather than nothing."
[6.0] "This is completely fine. The match is weirdly hated here, because it didn't meet their expectations. I do think it failed to make Dean Ambrose look strong here, so I'm not sure what the point of this match was. It didn't do anything for either guy here."
[4.0] "the match does stink but not nearly as much as i remembered that it did or as much as everyone says it does. Really does suck that brock wasn't able to do some cool things in this match because i know they could have had possibly match of the night. 2.25 stars"
[8.0] "***3/4 (7.5/10) Moxley might have been disappointed with his match against Brock, but I almost went four stars with their clash. I might have done so if there had been one or two more false finishes. Legend has it that Moxley's ambition was high while Lesnar chose to phone it in, but my expectations were well exceeded by the end of this one. Seriously anticipated it stink, but I liked what was cooking. There must have been something about Moxley that Brock wasn't too fond of. Kurt Angle did say that if Brock respected you, he'd sell for you till the cows come home. But if he didn't, it was gonna be a loooooong night for you..."
[1.0] "Pitiful match between two men who had zero chemistry and only one man who tried. Completely killed all the hype from the insane year that Dean Ambrose had. Glad they salvaged his popularity with a MITB win and title run. Probably the second worst example of "LOLBROCKWINS" from his reign of terror."
[7.0] "I remember hating this match because it felt like a one-sided beatdown of Ambrose, but my memory betrayed me here. This was a pretty good match, with Ambrose - god it's weird writing that name again - as the scrappy underdog against the monster that was Brock. Ambrose got a good bit of offense in, laying into Brock with a kendo stick and a chair. He got a good nearfall with the Dirty Deeds on a pile of chairs before Brock put him away with the F-5. While this was another case of a part-timer going over a full-time guy that could've been elevated with a win, which was a massive annoyance at the time, this was a far better match than I remembered it being. Hopefully, the rest of the show can follow the trend. ***3/4"
[6.0] "Match good actually. Its just Brock (unfortunately good wrestler) german suplexing dean for like 10 minutes so its pretty beast. Its a WWE street fight from this era so its not gonna be anything crazy. 3.32 is a little crazy for how solid and mildly entertaining it is."
[0.0] "I can't tell you how upset I was with this match, the build up made me think this was gonna be a brutal fight, but it turned out to be a garbage match with Lazy Brock taking over. Brock Lesnar just doesn't care about wrestling at some points and this is the perfect example of him not giving a shit. After hearing stories about this match, it just makes me feel bad for Dean because he had ideas that sounded good but Brock really pulled a Hulk Hogan and said "That doesn't work for me brother." Brock is only happy when he's in match for a world title and getting his big fat paycheck. Dean should've had a better match and most importantly, an interested Brock Lesnar. I hated every second of this match as a kid and looking back, it's still bad. Screw Lazy Brock"
[6.0] "No where near as bad as cage match is saying. There is far worse on this card than brock and Ambrose fighting. Could it have been better ? Ya like almost every wwe match lol but the triple threat woman's match was worse than this. And the League of Nations match"
[6.0] "Not as bad as the overall rating makes it out to be, don't get me wrong it could and should've been a hell of a lot better given who was involved in this match but it was obvious that Ambrose wanted to do certain things and Brock had his way and had no interest in doing anything taxing."
[6.0] "I definitely think this match should've better based off of the fun build - and I think Mox would think the same. Lesnar didn't want to "play ball" here. A typical, second-run Lesnar match. Dean did his best to get whatever he could out of Lesnar this night. Don't think it's a bad match, but lacked something special."
[7.0] "Honestly i did hear bad things about this coming into it - but honestly i thought it was decent - sure it could've been a lot better on paper and i think that's why people hated it but it wally wasn't that bad unless im missing something so overall 7/10"
[5.0] "Coming off the back of some of the work Brock Lesnar had done in the previous few years before this, it is understandable that many were disappointed in the extreme by this. Looking back however, while this isn't at the standard either are capable of, it was quite the disaster it has been painted. The main issue is that it's just not that interesting, but it's not bad."
[2.0] "Such a major disappointment of a match. I just watched this show before I rated this and I tried to block it out my head it was that bad. Sucks because the build to this match with Ambrose and the legends was phenomenal stuff"
[4.0] "It wasn't that bad, but obviously extremely underwhelming considering what was considered to be done and possible on that match. We wanted a great intense match between a beast and a dangerous lunatic, we got Lesnar suplexing a jobber before going back to UFC. Lesnar behavior is 0/10, but the match itself wasn't that horrible."
[5.0] "This probably wasn't the maniacal abortion that lots of people claim it to be. It had realistic selling, proper back and forth action, & involved numerous weapons, exactly as promised. It was admittedly a bit short, & I could've gone for more. I think that the problem here is that Brock's disrespect for the industry overshadowed what should have been a 10-rated barnburner. It's much better than a lot of crap on this card, for sure. I wanted the barbed bat to be used, that really could've bought time & created a new passage in the match. The choice to put Brock over was probably correct in hindsight, IMO."
[0.0] "Easily one of the most underwhelming matches in WrestleMania history. Dean had this whole match planned out and Brock just didn't care or give Dean anything in this match because he was going back to the UFC for a while and didn't wanna get hurt that much. Huge let down."
[2.0] "This was just disappointing. The hype going into this match for Dean Ambrose to go crazy on Brock Lesnar with every weapon under the sun. But instead, we get German suplex. Not mad at Brock winning but just upset that he didn't want to go extreme."
[6.0] "A fine match with some cool spots, particularly Brock's belly to belly off the top rope and the DDT, German Suplex and F-5 on the stack of chairs. The criticism seems to be that it could have been better, and perhaps that's true, but it's still solid."
[5.0] "Very much remember starting to get excited about the way the match was turning out and just as they lured you in, it ends. We all know the story now, Dean had a lot he wanted to do that Brock rejected so this half match is what we were left with. Disappointing to say the least, never got started, and even for a Brock match during this era this was sub par."
[2.0] "This match was pretty poor, these two should be having a much better match, if they both cared and got the time now this would be super good, however, this is not good. 1.5/10"
[0.0] "What a let down. Brock refused to work here and the result is one of the most disappointing matches I ever saw. this could be a showing for Ambrose but didn't work. The build of this match was fantastic with hardcore legends giving tips and iconic weapons to Ambrose so the expectations were high. Did any of those iconic weapons used in the match? No. the end result is a basic PG WWE no DQ match with nothing memorable"
[6.0] "Although it is a bit bland for a street fight, I still think this is a fairly fun match and one of the best of the night even tho that doesn't say much. That being said, I don't have any context for anything that happened behind the scenes as I wasn't watching wrestling around this time, but watching it blind it was decent."
[6.0] "Brock v Dean was pretty Fun I didn't know about the History of the Backstage shenanigans into it so I was going in unbiased & thought it was Fine but why didn't Brock vs Bray? this Feud felt like it came out of Nowhere just so they could have Dean on the Card."
[2.0] "It's probably not that truly bad to be a 2/10 but this match really doesn't offer much, even with the whole "throwing every idea away because suddenly Brock has a UFC match" thing factored in. Brock seems just unbothered about the hardcore stipulation and mostly goes through the motions in this. Ambrose's plans largely failing make him look like more like an idiot than a crazy iron man. A very watered down brawl even for PG WWE and a big let-down at the time. *1/4"
[8.0] "Watching Brock just decimate opponents with suplexes is always entertaining for me, so idk, I personally enjoyed this match. Ambrose brought alot of grit and determination here, even if he didn't get a whole lot of offense in. I actually liked that the match was only 12 minutes--not every big WM feud has to end with some 30 minute epic with endless finishers. This was short, but hard-hitting and effective for what it was."
[1.0] "Sad sad sad sad. It seems as if the impression of this match gets worse with every piece of information we get about the backstage workings of it as well. Crowd was deflated, there was a vision, but the execution was disjointed, unambitious and did no favours for either man."
[1.0] "Complete dud. Everyone knows the story of this match and the shenanigans with it. Can't believe I thought someone was gonna use barbed wire in this."
[2.0] "In truth if viewed in a vacuum this probably wasn't 'bad' as such, but in context boy was it disappointing. The build promised so much and this delivered so very little that I feel obligated to be especially harsh with this rating. One of the biggest let downs in WrestleMania history."
[1.0] "I really, really hate this match, Lesnar gave shit about this while Ambrose was super motivated in making a memorable match, instead we got 12 minutes of a dull match in what was supossed to be a ''street fight'', Geez, *."
[6.0] "This is the infamous match where Brock didn't want to play ball and shot most of Ambrose's ideas down when they were planning out the match. Lesnar looks like he's having the time of his life throwing Ambrose around like he's made of feathers. This was a one-sided beating where Ambrose took 13 suplexes, but Ambrose kept it entertaining by being charismatic as hell as Lesnar beats forty shades of shit out of him. I thought Ambrose attempting to use a chainsaw was way too gimmicky. What was he planning to do if he managed to get the thing working? Would we see the first dismembering in Wrestlemania history? Although it does put a bummer on things know that these guys could put on something so much better than what we got here, the end result was still an entertaining weapons match, even if the result never felt in question."
[7.0] "The lack of weapons is actually kinda lame, and I didn't like the ending with Ambrose losing after a single F-5, even if on chairs, cause it is quite inconsistent with all the story about how hard is to put Dean down. But the match itself is very good, I understand the criticisms but they don't justify votes like that, it's a great clash no different from a classic Lesnar match, with a lot of aggression and the ability to put on excitement."
[2.0] "I saw this match live, and holy fucking shit, did the energy in my body leave once I found out it was gonna be a Lazy day for Brock. It wasn't awful, but after a ton of build up when Ambrose got weapons from Foley and Funk, teasing us on what could be a solid WWE-sanctioned deathmatch, left many including myself in disappointment when it was mostly German Suplexes and basic maneuvers from both men. So glad that Ambrose (NKA Jon Moxley) finally got the deathmatch he wanted, but man, this match could've been one of the shining moments of a mediocre Mania card. (1/4 star)"
[4.0] "The match falls apart a good bit due to Brock stonewalling Dean's attempts to be extremely silly and falling onto the hardcore gimmicks that he sadly seems to slip into whenever someone isn't making sure he can't do it (like how are you gonna seriously use a CHAINSAW in a wrestling match? ) and Dean not really working the usual Brock match as the effective underdog. There's some nice spots where Dean gets the upper hand but I feel like he didn't properly sell the effects of Brock trashing him around beyond Brock brutally throwing him into a stack of chairs: I didn't buy that Dean was in any real danger. I wouldn't say this is Brock being lazy because the guy can work, it's just that he didn't want to do this wacky gimmick match where Dean gets to pretend he's PG Atsushi Onita for a bit. I think both of these guys could have possibly had a far better match if they were willing to compromise and Dean didn't look like he wanted to be anywhere but there, because Brock's a great monster when it counts, and Dean can pull off some great performances when he's got gimmicking himself all the time (his NJPW work, for instance) but sadly, it isn't to be."
[5.0] "It's hard to really judge this one objectively because, while watching, you can't help but think "What could have been? ". Brock doesn't seem to care here, and Ambrose is not given much to work with, leading to a very barebones affair. For a storyline built upon Dean acquiring weapons to use to beat the beast, very few hardcore elements were even used. Neither performer was particularly passionate here, and it shows. And its a shame, because Brock and Dean in a hardcore match had the potential to be something great."
[6.0] "This match is actually nice. Just disappointing because not really violent whereas the build up presented a hardcore confrontation. But if you watch this as a normal match, that's rather good. Not extraordinary, but nice."
[0.0] "Brock was so lazy that he had nothing creative to make this most anticipated match great. Dean worked hard, came up with a lot of ideas for this one (if you listen to his thought on podcast). The chainsaw tease was a waste as it was never properly used. It is shameful that the match was just another Brock's meaningless squash. What a massive letdown if not a total disaster of a money WM match. I remember how i was disappointed 4 years ago and now look back it was still the same."
[0.0] "I watched this match live and i was extremely disappointed. All the build up with Barbed Wire Bat or chainsaw was pointless. Nothing special happened in that match. Or we can say another lazy Lesnar match."
[0.0] "An absolute disaster that seemed to break the spirit of Dean Ambrose forever. All that build for a lazy match where little of interest happened, another meaningless Brock squash with absurd, embarrassing moments like that stupid chainsaw tease."
[6.0] "I didn't watch this live, and went in with very low expectations and ended up finding this perfectly acceptable. It's basically a standard Lesnar match with kendo sticks and some decent bumps on steel chairs. The teasing of the chainsaw and barbed wire bat is admittedly a bit pathetic. Obviously if you are going in expecting Foley/Orton it will be a massive disappointment, but removed from all the expectations it's actually an ok match."
[3.0] "The plot was given that Dean Ambrose can defeat the beast in the flesh only with the help of his main power - this is a merciless extreme. In fact, the match disappointed in these parameters and it was built according to the layout of a typical Brock Lesnar match - this is dominance over an opponent in the city of suplexes and only rare counterattacks by his rivals. In the extreme fixture match, the standard for the PG era was used, although the match was presented as being tougher in relation to them."
[3.0] "Decent build for this and expectations for this match were pretty good but this match was one of the biggest disappointments in recent pro wrestling history."
