Battle Royal Match 2014

[1.0] "I feel so bad for all involved, but this? Forget John Wick; getting anything remotely passable or coherent out of a match with practically the entire division is the one true impossible task. Lovely that all the gals got a Mania payday, but relegating the entire women's roster to an afterthought like this, where no one gets over, where all workers, good or bad, look equally terrible, and where even the champion is just another body amongst a sea of them, is indicative of so much wrong with the company's outlook on women's wrestling then."

[4.0] "4/10 This was pretty stupid, but everyone worked really hard, and I'm glad the women got their WrestleMania match."

[4.0] "Unfair to these ladies to put them in this spot. The crowd just watched the streak end, and had to save energy for Bryan's upcoming moment. Fine for what it was."

[1.0] "Literally one good moment in this and it's the finish. A complete mess from front to back where nothing happens besides a convoluted four way powerbomb moment that then leads into the ref trying to count four pin attempts at the same time? The fact this is the only women's match and it's the piss break spot didn't pass me by either. Ridiculous."

[5.0] "It was a cluttered mess from start to finish, then again whenever you have more than 10+ in the ring at once, you are bound to not expect much. Ever watch a Royal Rumble match and over 10+ people are in the ring and the match turns into a standstill? This is the case here except it's with the WWE Divas. There were glimmers of interest here. Sure, the crowd was dead but, it's not the girl's fault. The standoff between The Bellas was fairly interesting with Nikki giving Brie the Rack Attack finisher (first time on her own sister) and made me ponder for a minute if AJ was actually going to lose the title here. But alas the rushed ending with AJ and Naomi killed some of the fun of the match. I probably would be generous and give a higher rating but, yeah matches like this are never good, guys or girls."

[1.0] "My lord... I always forget how awful this division was back then until I see something in a documentary, or on a random rewatch when I'm bored. This match has barely any starpower, or, in-ring ability, contained within it. AJ wins. Duh. She should have. But hooooooooooooly smokes... When you're putting Cameron, Eva Marie, Brie Bella, Rosa Mendes, Summer Rae, Aksana, and Tamina in it... It's rough"

[2.0] "They tried hard, but the format of the match made it difficult. At least they had a few memorable spots. As we saw on Raw, AJ's title reign didn't last much longer. Next time WWE wants to book 14 women in a one fall match they should realize it's a bad decision."

[3.0] "Not the worst match ever but just had the misfortune of being placed after the streak ended. AJ gets a nice win and there were a few cool spots like the suicide dives and superplex/powerbomb."

[1.0] "This is terrible and a depressing look at the state of this division. There are a few solid workers in there who keep this from being the worst thing ever, but it's not enough. Of course there's way too much going on, the structure is really bad and nobody in the audience cared at all. Obviously it sucks to follow Taker/Brock because that match was awful but also went 25 minutes and is the end of Taker's streak. The Horsewomen can't arrive soon enough, this is deeply unfortunate."

[6.0] "Feel bad for the ladies having to follow the literal end of the Undertaker's streak, however the match was a bit of a fuster cluck, if you catch my drift. A whole lot of nothing filled the match and AJ Lee got the predictable win after being absent the full match"

[0.0] "A complete waste of time. Only WWE believes in the terrible concept of a cooldown match or segment. If your show is booked competently and the matches are performed competently, the fans will keep the energy going. I watched this live in a bar with friends and it was a buzz kill. Natalya is the only one in this match who can actually wrestle and not skip around or shake her ass."

[5.0] "Reasons behind this exact position on the card for this match are more than obvious, however besides that it's also an okay bout."

[4.0] "why was this after the streak ending what was the reason for this match like i just have so many questions why wasnt it just a battle royal?"

[4.0] "The first time the Divas Title was defended at Wrestlemania, like other women's matches of the era, it was relegated to a cooldown match between Lesnar/Taker and the main event. It was a mostly competent match that did not overstay its welcome, with the right person winning."

[2.0] "Terrible match. Terrible booking. First Divas championship match, made zero effort to feel big. At least AJ won. And for the hell of it had Jerry Lawler being Jerry Lawler. Also have we wondered how Vicki has the most beautiful voice in God's Green earth. So soothing to hear."

[3.0] "having to follow up the streak ending is really brutal. especially during the diva era, thankfully the women's revolution was on the horizon."

[2.0] "This was literally just a boring and awful filler match to get top women's wrestlers on the show and the crowd was still processing the streak being broken and warming up for the main event."

[6.0] "This was an revolutionary match for the divas at the time! Cause I remember women getting less than 2 minutes TV time every week, and at the time Paige was still in NXT, (she debuted a day after, winning the divas title) AJ Lee was the unique women in there who people actually cared about. But yeah, all the divas had their time to shine, everyone had the chance to at least hit their signature move, It was really refreshing to see women like Alicia Fox, Aksana, Cameron, Naomi and Eva Marie actually having an PPV match in WWE. But unfortunately it was too short, considering there is a tone of people envolved in the match, I would give they like.. at least 10 minutes (Come on, it's a 4 hour show! ) But anyway, considering Eva is in the match, It was actually shocking there is no botch in this match, it was 100% well done, just the final minutes of it, it was rushed."

[5.0] "This was mediocre at best and honestly the cool off match so the audience can process what happened just before this. AJ Lee retained."

[3.0] "This existed solely to give the crowd time to process that the streak had ended. It wasn't good. There were far too many people, especially for a six minute match, so it was just random women (many of who were not very skilled) hitting random moves, and often not executing them very well. Just a mess, but I suppose they needed something that wasn't actually good for the fans to recover without ruining another match, so... Mission accomplished, I guess?"

[1.0] "Nothing to remember from this match. AJ Lee, the champion, breezes through at the finish to retain her title. This match only serves to relieve the pressure and regain the public's spirits, following the defeat of the Undertaker in the previous match, before the Main Event. (0*1/2)"

[2.0] "On the one hand, almost no match was going to survive being the post-Streak ending match, so this was dead on arrival. Still, it's not like they did anything to give it a chance. A true Divas-era cluster, a dozen+ women thrown into a chaotic "battle royale" where the first pinfall or submission wins? Yeah, that's rife for psychology. It of course rapidly devolves into a bunch of silly spots and when you've got the likes of Cameron, Aksana, and Eva Marie in there, you know you're not going to see great workrate. AJ Lee sneaks out with the win, though, which is something at least. Barely."

[1.0] "The Divas era in a nutshell. The embodiment of "all looks, zero talent". At least the right person won."

[4.0] "This match having to follow the end of the Streak and being put just before Daniel Bryan's triumph was a death-sentence. The effort was admirable, every woman gave their all, but there was not enough time for a match containing 14 women. Shout-out to the Bellas, Naomi and Natalya who tried their damness to make it passable, but it just falls short."

[6.0] "Ignoring the fact that the crowd is pretty much dead until daniel Bryan comes back for the main event, this was a passable women's match that contained no botches."

[3.0] "Very boring, a filler match (I think) in a WrestleMania that was going pretty well so far, although with some surprise of course."

[3.0] "Pretty bad match - started awful and sloppy, and ironically the Bella Twins of all people brought some structure."

[4.0] "Yeah, I don't envy these women being in this spot. The crowd could not care about this as they are still reeling from the streak ending. Naomi hits a rope-hung slingshot piledriver and it gets no reaction. Natalya attempts a three-women Sharpshooter, but is interrupted by an Eva Marie roll-up. After hitting stereo suicide dives, the Bella Twins start fighting each other. AJ Lee is able to retain her title after locking on a Black Window onto Naomi. The effort was clearly here and you could tell every woman here was trying their absolute best to wake the shocked crowd up, but there was too much going on with 14 different wrestlers trying to squeeze all their stuff into a brisk 7-minute match."

[6.0] "The match is okay, it contains no big botches. It's a little bit short for the number of participants we have and I didn't really understand when everyone were outside of the ring. The finish is very cool. **3/4"

[6.0] "Shout out to all the women following the end of the Streak, that couldn't have been easy for any of them. They did the best they could with the death slot."

[6.0] "This match has the very heavy problem of following the most shocking moment in Wrestlemania history. The crowd is totally absent, although the match was also quite well booked. There are spot that present nice ideas but that could be improved in the realization (such as the three pinfalls performed simultaneously), and others spot are more successful and help into making the match enjoyable, despite the much confusion, and the unnecessary presence of many divas."
