[2.0] "Oof, yeah this was rough. Obviously at this point Andre couldn't do much, and Warrior was hardly the adversary to drag something decent out of him. Seriously, wtf was Warrior thinking in attempting a bear hug on Andre? And the fact that they also worked that spot for a good 30 seconds to a minute. To his credit, Andre did take one bump to the floor but it sure took a way for him to get back up to his feet and into the ring. This was just a mess and the cheap finish didn't really do anything for anyone. *"

Sure this match wasn't filled with exciting manoeuvres but it was a perfectly good match between two great characters of the era. Andre is really a wrestling genius in my book. He could really make the most out of his own physical limitations and his opponent."

I despise Warrior and don't have an awful lot of time for Andre and his weird looking teeth so was looking forward to hating on this but it was ok. Some of it was shit but its Warrior and Andre so of course it is. No idea why Andre got DQ'd though, it was Warrior using the foreign object (Heenan) to attack Andre."

Poor Andre is immobile by this point, and Warrior proves himself entirely unable to work around that, creating a clunky, ugly match that's miles too long. This matchmaking is terribly ill-advised to begin with, but let alone with almost eight minutes at their disposal. 1/4*"

[3.0] "The battel of the bear hugs! Ever since the release of the "Self-Destruction of the Ultimate Warrior" DVD release, it's become popular to bash The Ultimate Warrior. But the WWE's rewriting of history will not take away my childhood thoughts about how much I loved the guy back then. That said, this match wasn't very good. Andre was a few months away from leaving WWF after WrestleMania 6 and could barely fall to the ground, much less perform anything resembling wrestling moves. But these comments below all hate on the Warrior like Andre was hitting tope suicidas in this match or something. It wasn't good, but it was the lack of chemistry between both guys that brought it down."

[2.0] "If I'm being honest, this match isn't as horrible as it's reputation says. Although, if I'm again being honest, it's not exactly a good match either. The match is pretty slow (with long bearhug and choke spots taking up most of the match's runtime), there's some botches (Warrior going for a splash in the corner, only to slip off of Andre), it ends in a bizzare DQ finish, and you can count the variety of moves being performed in the whole match on one hand (choke, punch, bearhug, kick, blabla). However, there's some hard hitting strikes, some okay spots (Warrior shoving Andre against ropes), and there's good commentary by Ventura and McMahon. Again, not really a good match, but considering the competitors involved, I expected worse"

Immortan Scott wrote on 22.12.2023:

Andre is obviously hurting, but he used is limitations very well in this match, even with Warrior botching a few spots, they still managed to keep it high tempo and run out a half decent match. Defo not as cringey as most Warrior matches or Andre's of this time period. 4*"

Andre is too broken down at this point to do much else than a bear hug where he can basically lean on somebody to keep himself standing. I get giving Andre the tag belts as a thank you moment, but seriously, they could have picked somebody who could still move reasonably well in the ring!"

[1.0] "It was last years of Andre's career, he was no longer able to show decent matches, especially with such mediocre opponents. Many of matches between Andre and the Ultimate Warrior were squashes that lasted no more than a minute. And it would be much better if this one was short too, because it was bad from start to DQ finish, which was perhaps even worse"
Tomas Cunha wrote on 17.06.2021:
[0.0] "Choking, choking, and more choking. There, I just described this match. It's absolutely awful, André could barely stand up without having to use the ropes for assistance, and Warrior was far from being the best wrestler in the world to carry him to something good, or even watchable for that matter. Whoever thought having this go eight minutes clearly forgot to take his meds that day. And to make things even better, it ended in a DQ. Absolutely terrible. [DUD]"

[1.0] "This match was absolutely awful all along. Andre's selling was atrocious, there are a few good moves unfortunately, and Ultimate Warrior is just one of the worst wrestlers of this era. The finish is overbooked and atrocious. Everything was very bad in this contest. 0. 5 stars."
MagnusD wrote on 18.09.2020:
[1.0] "Yup, this one sucked, but I don't think you'd be expecting a classic here. Andre wasn't really capable of doing much anymore and Warrior wasn't the sort of opponent to pull something decent out in this situation. I guess I'll give it a point due to the sort of freak show appeal this has, but there was nothing you need to see here."
