"[10.0] Recently resubscribed to NJPW World to watch Tanahashi's final match at Westle Kingdom 20, but i HAD TO track down this event too, and..... WOW! One of the most insane matches ive ever seen! Just incredible! The sheer carnage that unfolded was something to behold!"

[6.0] "The last two matches on the show range from pretty good to absolutely incredible, anyone should go out of their way to watch these. As for the rest of the show, there is not much really worth revisiting save for maybe Okada vs. Tanahashi, and that's more so for importance than quality."

[6.0] "Unfortunately I'm not nearly as high as others on the ZSJ vs Danielson and steel cage matches as others. They were good to me but not much more. Okada/Tanahashi was a nice way to wrap up their rivalry, at least for now, but that wasn't anything blow away either. Ultimately just a decent show to me. 6.5/10"

[8.0] "3 amazing matches and the rest were kind of just stinkers. Okada and Tanahashi don't miss and even after all these years they pull off an emotional end to the rivalry. War Dogs and UE had a great send off for Ospreay and the best WarGames style match I've ever seen. Finally ZSJ and Danielson was the reason to watch this and sit through all that other BS. It was well paced and easily my front runner for MOTY."

[10.0] "Okada vs Tanahashi was good. Danielson vs ZSJ was phenomenal. The main was a great war. But this show was mostly great because there was a lot of emotions with the departure of Ospreay and Okada. The ovation for Ospreay was amazing, it was a beautiful moment."

[8.0] "Toru Yano & YOH vs Boltin Oleg & Ryusuke Taguchi: Not a good match, the only good thing about this was the power of Boltin Oleg on display [*]. Hirooki Goto & YOSHI-HASHI vs Callum Newman & Great O-Khan: A decent tag match where Callum Newman looked great with his agility and his hard-hitting strikes, Bishamon winning was good to see [**3/4]. EVIL, Ren Narita, SHO & Yujiro Takahashi vs El Desperado, Shota Umino, Tiger Mask & Tomoaki Honma: Better than I was expecting it to be for the most part, but the end when HOT did their usual antics did ruin it unfortunately [*3/4]. DOUKI, SANADA, Taichi, TAKA Michinoku & Yuya Uemura vs BUSHI, Hiromu Takahashi, Shingo Takagi, Tetsuya Naito & Yota Tsuji: Decent preview multi man match, with some solid decent previews for the upcoming few matches between members of both factions [***1/4]. Kazuchika Okada vs Hiroshi Tanahashi: A good send off match for Kazuchika Okada from NJPW, Hiroshi Tanahashi was an ideal final NJPW opponent for Kazuchika Okada, enjoyed it as much as I thought I would [****]. Chase Owens & KENTA vs El Phantasmo & Hikuleo: Just like their previous match in Nagoya, I did not enjoy this match much especially at the end when Taiji Ishimori interfered and allowed the BC duo to win the titles, which the title change I thought was the wrong decision [*]. Zack Sabre Jr vs Bryan Danielson: On level with their previous match at AEW WrestleDream, they had a technical showcase with ZSJ this time picking up the win, a definite MOTY contender [*****1/2]. United Empire vs Bullet Club War Dogs: Absolutely brutal steel Cage match, one of the most brutal matches Ive ever seen in NJPW, HENARE had the tenacity to keep getting back up, BC War Dogs winning was actually decent, could not have asked for a better match to settle this [*****1/4]"

[7.0] "Very good show with three must-watch matches. This is miles a better show than their dreadful Nagoya show previously. The crowd are very active all throughout the show. There are chants like, "THIS IS AWESOME! ", "FIGHT FOREVER! ", and they are chanting it correctly. Anyways the filler tag matches are alright, nothing special. But it's the last 4 matches that mattered for this show. Bryan Danielson vs Zack Sabre Jr. is my first 5-star match that I rated for this year, which is well-deserve because they provide us a masterpiece to remember. Early match of the year and very hard to top. However, more of this review on the matchguide, (*****). Here are the rest of my ratings for this show: Yano/YOH vs Taguchi/Boltin, short but stale match, (*1/2), Bishamon vs O-Khan/Newman, alright match, (**1/2), EVIL/Narita/SHO/Yujiro vs Umino/Despy/Tiger Mask/Honma, mildly alright, (**), LIJ vs Just-5-Guys 10-men tag, decent match, (***1/4), Tanahashi vs Okada, my review on the matchguide, (****), KENTA/Owens vs Hikuleo/ELP, my review on the matchguide, (***), United Empire vs Wardogs 10-men Dog Pound Cage, my review on the matchguide, (****1/2). The main event is exhaustingly long though but still a fun brawl. Okada giving her last flowers after the match is so touching especially when he kissed the NJPW logo on the ring. Ospreay's final NJPW match is very emotional and the crowd appreciating Ospreay is very cool to see. Overall, a solid show with interesting card. No doubt Osaka has the best crowds for NJPW."

[7.0] "Such a weird vibe throughout, as NJPW try and navigate this transition period. The sooner we're through this New Beginning run the better, so everyone can look to the future and the New Japan Cup winner. For what it was though, the ZSJ/Danielson match was MOTY-worthy, and the main event was a truly unique experience."

[6.0] "Danielson vs ZSJ is the match to watch here. The main event has garnered mixed results but I enjoyed the novelty of it all happening in a New Japan ring. Tanahashi and Okada had exactly the kind of above average but completely unsurprising match you'd expect from them in this day and age. Everything else was in that 4/5/6 range, with the IWGP tag title match feeling especially misplaced on the card. The card didn't start to gain momentum until about Tanahashi vs Okada or maybe the tag match before it, and then GoD vs Owens and Kenta reset the hype back to zero, even if the match did pick up a bit by the end. Unfortunate placement. A two or three match show, in my opinion, but one of those matches (Danielson vs ZSJ) is a very good one. The main event didn't land as well as it could have for me but I don't regret watching it or it taking place. Ospreay also had a very nice send-off on this show, but there's so much forgettable and uninteresting stuff on this card that I think the overall rating comes down to around a '6' for me."

"A show so good I decided to join this website to talk about it. Watched the match with a first time viewer of New Japan and they were as blown away as I was. Only Watched 3 Matches but what a group: 1. Okada Vs Tanahashi: the end (for now) of, in my opinion, New Japan's most iconic rivalry between the two most steady foundations of the past decade. While it could never live up to the bars set in the past, it was fundamentally great (4 Stars). 2. ZSJ Vs Danielson was exactly what it needed to be. No bells & whistles just two masters of their craft living up to the expectations set just by standing across from each other. I loved every chess move of this technical masterpiece, however I may need to see it once more to appreciate it as everyone else clearly is, as I currently do not know which of their matches I prefer (5.5 Stars) 3. War Games: Bullet Club Vs United Empire. Holy mother of God where to begin. First off, seeing my buddy lose his mind at his first ever NJPW main event and it being this all out war is something I will never forget. I honestly don't believe I can do this match justice in words just that every pro wrestling fan should see this match as soon as possible. Thank you Ospreay for transforming into maybe the greatest wrestler alive through the battles of New Japan, definitely recommend watch his post-match promo as the raw emotion he expressed will hit you right where it counts . My MOTY easily (6.25 Stars)"

[7.0] "The undercard was what we come to expect from NJPW, but the featured matches sure delivered. Okada/Tanahashi was nothing special in terns of quality, but in terms of history it was a great moment. Bryan/Sabre was better than their first outing in my opinion. I cant wait for the rubber match. I had very high expectations for the cage. And those expectations were met and then some! What a brutal/exhilarating war. Gabe Kidd is a star! I had the Danielson/Sabre match ranked slightly higher only because those last ten minutes or so with the ring torn apart slowed it down."

But a majority of what came before it was quite bland and felt like filler, which I guess is what preview tags are for but it kinda drags the show down a bit. Also, Chase Owens holding a title in 2024? GOD losing it just over a month into their reign? Gedo have a word with yourself mate"

[8.0] "The multi-man matches were pretty standard all things considered (though they were all short and well-paced so you hardly felt it by the time we got to the second half of the show. As for those big three matches (Okada/Tanahashi, Danielson/ZSJ, UE vs Bullet Club) they all delivered, with two match of the year candidates going back to back. A really good show."

[9.0] "Bit of a disappointing undercard, but my God, those final two matches are legitimate match of the year contenders. A technical masterpiece in Danielson vs. Zack Sabre Jr. and a bloody war in United Empire vs. War Dogs that just flew by."
Oswuold wrote on 11.02.2024:
[10.0] "The first five matches were nothing awesome but how can you be disappointed. We got the last Okada vs Tanahashi, the definitive Sabre vs Danielson and a legit contender for the best match ever fought. That's the end of Okada and Ospreay's NJ and it was pure fucking raw emotions. ****** (6*)"

[5.0] "ZSJ and Danielson is about as must watch as you can get in modern wrestling, I still can't work out if the main event is one of the worst matches I have ever seen or wildly entertaining. The undercard was either woeful, boring or merely fine. On this showing, I don't feel compelled to get back into NJPW."
DexterXSR wrote on 11.02.2024:
[10.0] "This might be one of the best NJPW shows this year, period. While the undercard might have been a bit lackluster, and KENTA winning Tag Gold is certainly.....a decision, the Okada-Tanahashi, ZSJ-Danielson and the WAR GAMES Cage Match, certainly make up for that. NJPW is now in a new era, a power vaccuum has opened and it's clear ZSJ is going to be winning the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship at some point this year, maybe even the G1 as well."
Jacek2002 wrote on 11.02.2024:
[10.0] "A show so good that it almost made me forget Chase and Kenta winning the tag bel, only thing that holds this back from being a 10. Incredible moments, Okada vs Tana was a beautiful last chapter in their rivalry. The last two matches was something really special. When the ZSJ match ended I said to myself it was match of the year so far, then the next match went and topped it. On second thought Im gonna give this a 10 lol, seriously great stuff even if there is one major negative for sure."
DanOfTheMac wrote on 11.02.2024:
[9.0] "A show with incredible highs but one dud that brings the score from a 10 to a 9. The undercard was exactly what you'd expect from a New Japan show, not lacking in quality but only in time given and storytelling ability. Okada/Tanahashi was an emotional if short affair, both men definitely had more in the tank but played the hits and sent off Okada well. The Tag Title match was by far the weakest only by elimination. The choice to put the IWGP Tag Titles on KENTA and Owens is certainly not a popular one, and the match itself was a slow, dull and somehow convoluted mess. But the final two matches on this card were phenomenal. Danielson and ZSJ put on another instant classic, continuing the battle for supremacy started at WrestleDream. Easily a MOTY contender already and could easily be the beginning of Zack's climb to main eventer in New Japan. The main event was... Phenomenal. The single greatest cage match I have ever seen, by far. The UE and War Dogs always bring the best out of each other and as a send off for Ospreay it fulfilled every potential dream that you could have wanted. A must watch final two matches for anyone who claims to love professional wrestling, and an amazing show across the board."

[8.0] "I didn't watch the first three matches but the 2nd half of the show was incredible. The LIJ VS Just 5 Guys was everything we expected it to be. It built for the One on One matches we'll get at Sapporo with decent wrestling.***1/4. Okada VS Tanahashi , even if disappointing, was a nice touch. Fine match but the worst match of their rivalry .***1/2. The tag match was forgettable and it had the wrong result in Bullet club winning. **1/2. Danielson VS ZSJ was a work of art and an Instant classic. Best technical match of all time and might be one of my favorite matches of all time. Also my current MOTY. ******. The main event was one of, If not the best Steel Cage match ever. Perfect send off to Will Ospreay in a match that got every single person in it over. Phenomenal match.*****1/2. Overall, a two match show but bot do those two matches deliver. The last two matches are must watch but Fine card otherwise."
SmartForceOne wrote on 11.02.2024:
[9.0] "If you judge a show by its top three matches, this show was better than Wrestle Kingdom, and thus the best show of the year thus far. I have not seen the undercard, having only watched from Okada/Tanahashi onwards, but the semi-main and the main event are two of the best matches of the year thus far. Bryan/ZSJ was an incredible technical wrestling masterpiece and my personal MOTY of 2024 to date, while the main event is one of the best War Games matches I've ever seen. The show also had Okada's send-off, capping the rivalry between Okada and Tanahashi with an emotional, if not technically incredible match. The tag title match was bad and the undercard looks like filler, so I cannot rate this a 10 out of 10, but it was definitely a great show."

[8.0] "Incredible last two matches on this show. Bryan Danielson Vs Zack Sabre Jr is as good as pro wrestling gets. Chills hearing the crowd chant This is awesome and Fight Forever. This was a special one and somehow topped their first match for me. The main event was absolutely incredible. Everyone involved looked like a star and this is my favorite cage match of any kind of all time. The send-off for Ospreay was one of a kind and a tearjerker as he spoke about what Japan means to him. A fantastic final stretch on this show thats gonna be talked about for years to come."
