[8.0] "Found some notes in an old diary while cleaning things out and thought I should put down some notes on this show as I went to both Sydney shows and this house show was significantly better than the Televised Thunder event, the crowd was ridiculously hot, so much hotter than the Thunder tv show probably because it was pretty much just wrestling and heat spots. The opening match between Elix Skipper vs. Kwee-Wee was a quick affair, not really but the crowd was there for them, but not really that interested, same thing could be said about The Cat vs Mike Sanders which was probably the worst match of the night, a bit of heat from Sanders heeling it up, but nothing of note, neither of these are that memorable. From now on all of the matches just hand an incredible amount of heat with the only dip being the Lance Storm match due to how it was paced, but he got that temperature right back up right at the end. The Mixed tag got an insane amount of heat with "Franchise's a Wanker" echoing all the way through the match (The loudest wanker chant of the night), guy just milked the crowd for what felt like 5 minutes before the bell even sounded. Shane could stir up a crowd like no one else. The best match of the night from a pure wrestling perspective was easily the Lance Storm vs General Rection, this was my first time seeing Lance in action he was incredible live, so smooth. even with the DQ finish, the Heat at the end when he locked in the maple leaf on Major Gunns was hot. The Battle Royal (which was called the "Countdown to Armageddon") where the wrestlers entered one at a time was just a showcase of WCW wrestlers, with everyone getting a signature move or two in and then Nash (his entrance was one of the biggest pops of the night) clearing house to a huge big pop before he was taken out of the match by Seargent A-WOL and Shawn Stasiak (with Stasiak got loud boos after he helped eliminate Nash, I think maybe this was a betrayal or something that might have been happening on TV). Then more wrestlers coming in, hitting their signature moves and then same thing happening again with Steiner taking everyone out and getting his main event spot. Fun match. This site is missing a tag team title match that took place between Jindrak & O'Haire vs. Rey & Kidman which was fantastic, probably best match of the night, all four young guys just going balls to the wall in the ring with all the high flying and tag team moves, they had the crowds in the palms of their hands. Fantastic spot match with Jindrak & O'Haire picking up the win. Jarrett vs. Sting was fine, Jarret came out and ran down Sydney specifically how we did not do that well at our own hosted Olympics compared to the US. Sting cut him off with probably the biggest pop of the night outside of Goldberg, match was heated, with Sting getting the win in the end with another huge pop. Goldberg (receiving the biggest pop of the night) beats Kronik in a squash match when some Australian kick boxer? guy distracted one of Kronik and allowed Goldberg to hit the spear into the jackhammer. So much fun heat. On the way out a fan got up in Goldberg's calling him a shit stone cold knockoff and I heard later that he spat on him. Goldberg got right up into his face while the crowd cheered for him to knock that guy on his ass, Goldberg was smiling throughout the entire thing until, Nash came out again to a pop to break it up with security. Title Match Booker T vs. Scott Steiner, very typical WCW main event match with both guys being incredibly over and pulling out most of their signature moves, with Steiner taking the pin in the end. Insane heat with the people absolutely against Steiner. Steiner also in the middle of the match pulled some apparent drunk guy over the rails right near me who was calling him steroids and some other slurs. The security people ran right over and took him away and his drunk mates were pissed and tried to get in on it too, the people in my area just laughed at them as they were so angry. Great Night and great show, once the crowd got hot, it stayed there."
