[6.0] "I like the aesthetics and the pacing of the show. They start VERY bad with Punk's promo and the TNT Title match, then we slowly get back on track, I believe the video packages work better than the backstage interviews, but this really isn't must-see TV. Kevin Kelly was terrible on commentary, his incapacity of saying "Andrade El Idolo" was already infuriating and doesn't help he kept annoying me the entire show, Nigel deserved a raise just for the carry he did this night. We get 1 hour of insufferable content for a good (but very long) Main Event. Would rather if the show was more balanced. Also, camera angles were really fucked up lol."

But you can safely ignore talk of Collision being at its peak when Punk was "in charge", far better Collision's than this would follow that had the added bonus of nobody banned from the show. I recommend this show but if you truly want to see one of the best Collision's you'll probably need to look beyond Punk's run and more towards the ones with Danielson vs Starks in the strap match, the Winter is Coming episode in the midst of the inaugural Continental Classic. or the one featuring Danielson vs Hechicero. They're the early-ish Collision's that truly show what the show can be at its best."

[8.0] "Pretty good way to start Collision: Cm Punk's opening promo was tremendous, what a way to return. Luchasaurus vs. Wardlow wasn't very good and the TNT title changed hands once again, unfortunately. Andrade vs. Matthews was the match of the night, great stuff by both men. The post-match was great and I hope that leads to Andrade vs. Malakai. Miro's return was a good moment and his match vs. Tony Nese was pretty fun. Blue/Nightingale vs. the Outcasts was good and a nice moment for Blue who won her hometwon. The main event was very good despite being too long: Punk looked in good shape and everybody else looked great, the action was very fun and the crowd was hot. Overall: a great first episode with good matches and promos."

[7.0] "It was the first AEW show I ever watched. It was pretty entertaining. Unlike WWE, there were barely non-in-ring segments. CM Punk's promo was passionate but felt a bit over the top. The first match between Luchasaurus & Wardlow was a letdown. For a title match, it under-delivered. Christian Cage's involvement is part of the story, but I don't like outside interference. I do love the way Luchasaurus looks; his mask is so creepy... Andrade vs. Buddy Matthews was excellent, the best match of the night. They had plenty of time to show off their skills, and they sure did. The match got physical and brutal, and the back-and-forth was superb. Tony Nese's promo and his match with Miro felt like an uninspired filler. The match itself was practically a squash. The women's tag team match was a bit disappointing, especially the finish that felt dumb. However, I was impressed with Willow Nightingale's dominance. Also, it was nice to see how the crowd cheered for Skye Blue. The main event was pretty good but went for far too long. AEW could have added five minutes from this match to the women's tag match. I was especially impressed with Dax Harwood and Samoa Joe. It was moving to see how CM Punk got a hero's welcome."

"I enjoyed this episode overall, but have a few concerns. The matches themselves were good - Luchasaurus as TNT Champ isn't so bad - he's been a Tag champ before and Christian kinda holding the belt but Luchasaurus defends it for him is a smart gimmick that should draw plenty of heat. I feel Wardlow has been a bit screwed by the constant changes - he's mostly had to wrestle fellow powerhouses and smaller jobbers - I would have liked to have seen him defend the title against some smaller opponents to show his authority better. Andrade and Matthews was an excellent match. Seriously, seriously good. Miro returning was great and Nese was utilised well. We had a great women's match that flowed and clicked, which was great to see - and not with the usual suspects either (DMD, Hayter) so it showcased the growing depth of the division. The main event did drag a bit. For the most part, CM did next to nothing, and in several parts wasn't even paying attention to the match. The more I see of him, he reminds me of a Jeff Hardy, but unlike Jeff, Jeff is fine when he's clean. Punk seems a victim of his own mind at times, and that constant ticking time bomb of going off script excites but also worries me. For his promo, I don't like the continued gimmick. This isn't the 2000's anymore, his whole gimmick of shooting feels unwarranted now. He said he's exactly where he should with AEW, loves the fans and the company, but at the same time, finds The Elite a bunch of phonys? It doesn't make sense to me, as The Elite have proven themselves as excellent entertainers time and time again. As for his performance, he still looks slow to me. He talks about shoes to fill and asks if he's telling lies - yet Chris Jericho and Brian Danielson immediately come to mind. Heck, even Billy Gunn and Matt Hardy are currently better examples of older wrestlers who "still have it" - don't get me wrong, i'm very impartial - I don't care if CM Punk succeeds or fails but of course for AEWs benefit I hope he does, but actually earns it with perfomances that are legendary. Overall, glad there is a 2 hour premium show as it is simply more big-name talent to watch, but I still think Dark or Elevation should have been kept to showcase the upcoming talent. So many of the homegrowns are success stories now due to their exposure of Dark/Elevation. Biggest criticism for me however, is the commentary: it was rusty and didn't feel like AEW. Kevin Kelly to me has that very typical, generic non-denominational american sportscaster voice, that reminds me of most of the commentary since the late 90's from WWE. JR simply doesn't have the sharpness anymore, I feel it should have been Taz or Excalibur providing the insight as Kelly/McGuiness came across as unfamiliar with the product at times. Kelly struggled with the iconic segue to picture in picture and as I watch this on FITE, there was *slience* during every picture in picture which was a bit weird. What, don't wanna commentate because you're paid by the minute? Or maybe they didn't the memo. As an alternative, what happened to Big Show and Menard? They were really starting to click so I'm disappointed to not see them commentating currently. But to conclude, good beginning show with good matches."

The main event did go a bit to long but I was invested and it's 6 guys I all like so I can accept it. The only weak match of the card for me was the title change with Wardlow's momentum continuing to stall but overall a really good show which has got me tuning into this week"

[5.0] "In the UK, AEW doesn't air live (for free) so watching a show I'd already seen spoilers for, that wasn't particularly exciting anyway, grew tiresome, so I stopped watching about a year ago. That said, a brand new show, with an opening card featuring Andrade, Miro, Toni and Punk/Joe did pique my interest, so here I am. Show opened with a Punk promo that had a couple of good lines and was overall decent, but won't be remembered like some of his iconic work. Following that, a nice little video package aired for the opening match, unfortunately the match itself was absolutely horrible. Backstage, Lexy interviewed Hobbs & Marshall, Hobbs cut a decent promo vowing to win the Owen Hart tournament. Andrade vs Matthews was a really good match with a fantastic final few minutes. Post match, Andrade showed respect but the lights went out and when they came back on, he was wiped out by Brody King as Black looked on. In the ring, Tony Nese channeled his inner Simon Dean and cut an entertaining promo on the "fat" crowd, then attempted to lead them in a workout until he was interrupted by Miro's music. Miro came to the ring where he and Nese had a short but good match. Honestly, it's sad to see Nese still in the same jobber geek position because I think he could be much more. The women's tag started with a pre match brawl around the ring that was pretty good, however the actual match was bad outside of a decent Skye Blue hot tag and a good final 30 seconds or so. A slapnuts vignette aired with him cutting a promo hyping a match with Mark Briscoe, intercut with shots of Slappy breaking 6000 guitars...did he draw a dime? Probably a few. The Acclaimed and Daddy Ass made a brief, pointless, but reasonably entertaining appearance. The main event had a great sequence early on between Punk and Joe, and some other good parts, but as a whole, the match was too long and largely boring, plus Robinson absolutely sucks. Overall the show was decent but had problems, not least that its first ever match was a stinker. I also think the show would have benefited from shaving 10 minutes off the main event and redistributing it between the Miro/Nese match and establishing some storylines for the show going forward. As for the commentary team, Kevin Kelly wasn't at his best and I was never a fan of McGuiness' commentary in ROH or NXT and he did nothing to change my opinion of him here. JR only commentated on the main event and sounded rough. Not sure if I'll continue to watch Collision or not, in these early days it will probably depend on the card, but if they're not doing a roster split, then watching only one show could lead to frustration down the line."

Andrade vs Buddy was the best thing on the show by far, the women's match was good, it's great to see Miro back, the acclaimed cut the exact same promo they cut every week on rampage, the TNT title continues to be a mess, and the main event was okay but disappointing it was way too long and the finish was flat. Third best AEW show this week, or at best second. And btw it's very funny to see all the CM Punk fanboys overrating this show just because their guy is the headliner"

[6.0] "The obvious highlight of the show is Andrade and Buddy, and the tease of the House of Black vs LFI being the most enticing. But overall this show feels fine, just fine. Miro is back yay, but its a squash and thats cool, its what he does. The TNT title change was unexpected and mostly fine but Cage pretending to have won the title is gold. The womens tag was well worked and pushed forward the Outcasts story, and I gotta give it to Skye Blue. The main event was underwhelming for me to say the least, just not much oopmh to it for a returning CM Punk. 25 minutes of match and it just never got into high gear for me. So we got a pretty good undercard match, a squash, an oddly time TNT title change (poor Wardlow), a fine womens match and a main event thats undercooked Also why no Thunder Rosa? Anyway its basically a long Rampage with more Punk promo. The commentary on this show was just piss boring, a team with no chemistry that doesnt know their stuff about AEW. The production felt slick to the point of uninteresting. Basically this show plays like if TKs team did a decent ruthless aggression RAW. If that works for you cool, but we came off an all timer of a Dynamite for just a meh over produced Collision. Collision feels different surely, but it doesnt really feel like AEW to me. If this is what we can expect going forward, Ill stick to going to indie shows on my Saturdays and watching Collision later."

Highlights were Jay White, Juice Robinson and Samoa Joe teaming, Christian Cage sitting on Lucha's shoulders and raising the TNT title like he won it, Andrade's face work, and Toni Storm in the ring with Willow Nightingale, two of my favorite workers today. Can't wait for next week."

Above all, the Buddy vs. Andrade fight stands out more than the Main Event. While it is true that the return of Miro is something positive, but irrelevant. Luchasaurus as champion in the worst stage of the TNT Championship with a horrible booking. Anyway, this assessment is pretty optimistic overall but some people are blinded by Punk's return."

[9.0] "Thought the debut episode of Collision was a very strong first effort. I love The Elite, but CM Punk is undeniably is the biggest star AEW have. Epic promo by Punk in his hometown where they treat him like a messiah with a few subtle jabs at the Elite. Great stuff. What AEW have done to Wardlow is maddening. He was one of the hottest babyfaces in the country when he decimated MJF. Then he had a feud with a bunch of security guards then heatless feud after heatless feud, then a couple quick, pointless reigns with the TNT belt. They've extinguished any heat he had. Don't know where they go from here with him. Andrade vs Matthews was awesome. Buddy is great and it's awesome to see him show what he can do in a singles match and Andrade looked like a complete star as soon as he came out the curtain. The selling was magnificent by both guys and the figure-8 finish was a great finish. Miro, like CM Punk and Andrade returned from a long absence and instantly looked like star. He absolutely decimated Tony Nese in a great squash match. Skye Blue and Willow Nightingale vs The Outcasts was decent, good to see Blue get another big win. The highly anticipated return of CM Punk teaming with FTR vs Bullet Club Gold and long time rival Samoa Joe definitely delivered. Punk & FTR worked well together, Bullet Club gold were great at being massive assholes as usual and Samoa Joe looked like an absolute killer throughout. Great first episode of Collision, was great to see the return of people like Andrade, Miro & Punk and I'm very excited to see what happens in the future of All Elite Wrestling. 9/10"

Miro looks incredible. The TNT title change was a big surprise, but my guess is that they needed a Canadian "champion" for their summer tour in Canada. Obviously Punk's return didn't have the same impact as the first dance but he worked a really good match in the main event. Overall, a different feel than Dynamite, and I'm all for it."

"A fine wrestling show. CM Punk simply makes this company more compelling. Interesting choice to have TNT Championship as first match, regardless of the title change. It felt very much like a show that was intended to reach out to another wrestling audience. Andrade vs Buddy was great, but watching on FITE really slowed the pace of this match to a grinding halt during the injury spot. Otherwise great work from both workers. Andrade is massive. Tony Nese rocks. Miro Rocks. This match was a good squash. Women's tag was good. Willow and Skye are such great babyfaces, and Ruby and Toni are just so good at what they do. Main event was a lot of fun and a great match. It's always fun watching each of these wrestlers independently, and there was a sense of real tension and atmosphere that surrounded this match. Punk and Joe needs to happen. Jay White is incredible as always, and Juice was a lot of fun to watch. FTR are FTR and are always good, at worst. While there is a clear stylistic difference between Dynamite and Collision, I can't help but feel things felt a little thin on the production end. Graphics, such as entrance nameplates, didn't pop as much as Dynamites do, and commentary felt a bit sketchy at times. I have confidence, however, that much of this will improve over the coming weeks."

I liked that Collision felt different on the production end from AEW's other shows, because at 5 hours ot TV every week that will be important, but as others have said, this episode didn't make any real attempts to sell us on whatever is coming next. It's one thing for Rampage to exist within its own little black hole, but doing that with a two-hour show is another story. We'll see what happens when Collision needs something other than Punk's return to add intrigue."

[7.0] "For a debut episode that was hyped so greatly, this was middle of the road for me. One low match, a couple mid matches, and one good match. The promo was maybe a tad too long given the content, but did what it needed to do within the confines of the Chicago audience. Leaves it open for him to go face or heel as needed. The rest of the card felt very leisurely, to the point that the main event was left with more time than needed. Wardlow match was not good. Andrade/Miro was methodical and setup future potential matches. Miro return should've been a true squash, and then set up a proper return feud, but nothing there. The main event was good overall, with great effort from the heels. Punk looked...not great. Really thought he was gonna be in fantastic shape after seeing his work out IG posts and stuff. But the biggest problem was that this show set up nearly zero content for the next week. Even if Punk shows up this Wednesday on Dynamite, at least SOME of the stories for the Collision show should be established for next Saturday."

Wardlow match stunk. Should not have been the debut match on Collision. Moving on. Buddy and Andrade was real graps. The women's tag was fantastic. Miro returned and looked like a star. The ME was quality with FTR & BC Gold carrying the weight. Joe & Punk standoff was big time as they haven't faced off since I think '05 & Joe is still an awesome monster. All in all great debut. Announce team regary of small hiccy are going to be clutch. The announce teams in AEW & ROH are A+. Dasha ring announcing gave it a different feel in a good way. It felt a bit more serious and focused for the most part. I preferred the style of wrestling on display here as well, but that may have just been a byproduct of who they decided to book this week so we'll have to wait and see if that stays the same or not. I do think they could have set up a bit more for next week - the show never really kickstarted anything major to convince you to stick around for future episodes - but I enjoyed the majority of what we got here and hope the show maintains a similar vibe and presentation in the coming weeks. At the very least, the first episode was my favourite of the weekly shows that aired this week, so that feels like a good start."

Punk using the Jay White line of selling out arenas he never sold out was also interesting, but really they didn't build any major programs I want to see - they built a program that presumably can't happen in Punk vs The Bucks which is... cool? I guess he had to address it but it aint making me tune in live. DVR worthy but still worth watching. Womens match and Punk promos were the highlight. Luchasaurus vs Wardlow was actively bad. And why is Scorpio Sky calling himself the future of AEW? Why is Hobbs still with QT? Nigel was very good on commentary and the show had a unique feel so theres that. But I did feel it was less than the sum of its parts which is weird for an AEW show, it's like Rampage with good presentation and CM Punk I guess? The matches were good with Andrade and Matthews being the MOTN. Good to see Andrade, Miro, and Scorpio Sky (Did not wrestle but will be returning soon) back on AEW TV. Nese being used as a jobber is disappointing. Commentary was good with Kelly and Nigel being a great duo and the set design gave it a different feel from Rampage or Dynamite."

[10.0] "Very good debut episode, saw matches that seemed believable, no random flips, wrestlers that haven't been seen are shown. Pretty good showing of Andrade vs Buddy, Miro once again showing how he is a force to be reckoned with. Christian with the heel tactics was really good, he hit the camera on Wardlow super fast to cost the victory. Also like Kevin Kelly being the announcer and makes me interested in the match and the story of the fight."

[8.0] "(LIVE) This felt like an ontological mission statement for Collision going forward, instead of a typically fast paced AEW work rate match we got a match based around dual limb-selling and instead of the main event being a party style tag match it was much more classically structured and a slow-burn. There were definitely pockets of the crowd around me who wanted more bang for their buck (pardon the pun) but I thought this show did well at establishing a house style that's separate from Dynamite and can be expanded on in future episodes. The opening promo was worth the price of admission alone but this was a pretty well rounded show overall. The ROH tapings being attached to these feel dead in the water though."

[8.0] "I had fun. It felt nostalgic to watch a wrestling show after a long time. This feels like SD vs RAW split from the early 2000's, which is probably for the best since you have to keep some people of the roster away from each other. Punk's opening promo was good, despite I didn't really care that much about the heat with the Elite. Miro's return was amazing and Tony Nese made me smile with his antics. BCGold were really good as the heels as well and carried a really good match. Commentary was also amazing, Nigel is always one of the best commentators in the world and I actually didn't remember how good Kelly was"

[4.0] "Collision feels like the exact opposite kind of format of Dynamite to me. Instead of a fast paced first hour that makes me feel like it might be an all time episode, the first hour of this for me felt more lackluster to me than just about any other televised AEW episode. I personally dont see the kind of good stuff said about the first two matches and think outside their endings they felt rather poor. They also just didnt feel like they were produced like how AEW matches typically are and I didnt care for that. Second hour was solid though. Was pretty high on the womens match and the trios got decent time and had some good stuff."

"Can't rate the show 'cos I've only watched the Punk promo so far. But I have to say I fear for AEW if TK's gonna let himself get dragged down the rabbit hole of using backstage heat & internet scuttlebutt to sell tickets instead of having on-screen characters develop carefully scripted rivalries. The fans who give a shit about who hates who in real life are gonna watch anyway, while casuals will get put off by elliptical promos that make no sense in the context of the show. And the whole "cheer me if you want / boo me if you want" schtick is gonna make for a messy product - fans on Dynamite were rabidly behind Omega in his pursuit of Takeshita & Callis, but in Chicago the message is "Fuck The Elite". Good luck."
