| 2 | 10.09.2023 | Telecine | 8.0 | Zuerst einmal muss ich sagen, dass es für mich die erste NJPW Show mit erlaubten Zuschauerreaktionen seit 2020 war. Damit ist es zum Zeitpunkt der Show zweieinhalb Jahre (in Realzeit sogar dreieinhalb) her, dass ich zuletzt eine japanische Show gesehen habe, in der nicht nur geklatscht wird. Was für einen Unterschied es macht, kann man gar nicht in Worte fassen. Ich hatte gar nicht bemerkt, wie sehr ich mich dann doch an die ausschließlich klatschenden Fans gewöhnt hatte, bis ich sie hier tatsächlich mal wieder lachen und rufen hörte. Nun zum Inhalt: Beide Tag Leagues sind nicht immer unbedingt Must See. Aber speziell die Junior Tag League bietet dann doch immer mal wieder einige gute Matches. Ich fand diese Show so auch ziemlich gelungen. Zayne & Lindaman gegen Kushida & Knight war ordentlich, ebenso Taguchi & Connors gegen DOUKI & Kanemaru. Flying Tiger gegen House of Torture ist ein kleiner Ausreißer nach unten, aber immerhin nicht beleidigend. Die letzten beiden Matches zwischen Austin & Bey und BUSHI & Titan sowie Catch 22 gegen Lio Rush & YOH waren dann wirklich gut. Es war zudem ein witziges Bild, wie Francesco Akira und TJP nach dem Main Event Red Shoes Uno als Übersetzer ihrer Promo einsetzen und das Publikum scheint sich zu freuen, dass sie nicht einfach nur eine Promo in Englisch serviert bekommen. Von der Undercard habe ich aus Zeitgründen nur das Six Man zwischen Suzuki Gun und LIJ gesehen, fand das aber relativ schwach. Naito und Suzuki sind eher eine Öl-und-Wasser-Paarung und funktionieren miteinander nur bedingt. Aber für die Undercard wird diese Show wohl auch niemand einschalten. Mal sehen, ob ich die Zeit finde, die gesamte Tag League Tour zu sehen, aber für den Start war dies eine angenehme Show, bei der wiegesagt auch die Rückkehr von Publikumsreaktionen eine Rolle spielt. |

I'd take Chris Charlton and Chase Owens (As far as I know this was the first time the Crown Jewel ever did color for a whole show) over Kevin Kelly any day. Main event was particularly good and Catch 22 showing they are worth it and more. Akira's master of Japanese strong style and Japanese promo is significantly better than I had ever expected. Top to bottom it was good, even house of torture was a joy to watch on this night. |

Ace Austin & Chris Bey are the closest competitors, but I think they don't get much, although such tournaments can surprise. Flying Tiger is still not worth writing off. Anyway, it's a good tournament day, but I hope it will only get more fun. |
