[3.0] "I hate these Extreme Rules shows, as they try to put these matches over as some hardcore extravaganza and then you just see ladders breaking in half and trash cans bending without much force needed. The best match on the show was once again Jericho vs Mysterio, mostly because the stipulation fit the feud and they told a story around it, which was the same thing for Punk and Umaga, who didn't have the best build, but the match itself delivered. Meanwhile Hardy vs Edge was another spotfest from two monkeys that got me used to it at this point and this time you couldn't even feel any danger, because ladders felt like they were made out of rubber. There's also Cena vs Big Show that was just an awful slog, which somehow was even slower than their Judgment Day, plus Batista vs Orton ended out of nowhere, even though they were just starting picking up the speed. At least Punk cashed in his briefcase, which was nicely done with Jeff kicking out of the first GTS, so the end to the PPV wasn't bad. Oh, and everybody praising Santino for being a tramendous "comedy character", because he made them laugh when they were 6 years old can absolutely piss off and take this Hog Pen bullshit with them."

[6.0] "A good show for sure. Show vs. Cena was really the only low point of the night, and even that wasn't horrible. Most of the matches of this event probably aren't good enough to really stick in your memory, or will have you coming back to this show for repeat viewings, but that doesn't take away from it being a solid event as a whole. Jericho vs. Mysterio is the exception that you'll definitely want to revisit. Far from being one of the best shows ever, but a very good 'B show' PPV."

[7.0] "This is a bit of a difficult show to rate. Jericho vs. Mysterio is great and easily MOTN, and the main event is very entertaining, but the rest of the show is fairly middling and likely something that most fans will be a lower vote on than myself as there is some fairly slow paced wrestling at points. The Hog Pen match is obviously garbage, too. If I was going on purely match quality I'd likely go with a 6.0, but what boosts this show for me is that it is very eventful and has several memorable moments, which I think is important for a PPV. The only matches that I'd consider to be actively worth seeking out are Mysterio vs. Jericho and the main event (unless you have a distaste for Ladder Matches), but the show as a whole was enjoyable despite some low points, and fans at the time were left with a lot to discuss, so I'd consider this to be a successful PPV overall."

[6.0] "A lot of ups, but also a lot of downs, resulting in the 1st Extreme Rules PPV being just satisfactory. The opening Fatal 4-Way was a fast-paced opener unfortunately brought down by some botches that took me out of the action. Jericho vs Mysterio in a No Holds Barred is still a joy to watch all these years later. It was then followed by Punk vs Umaga in a Strap match, and you know what, I shit a lot on the stipulation, but I felt like this was enjoyable, mainly because of how Punk looked clever against Umaga. The Triple Threat match for the ECW title was not really, you know, extreme, but it was fine for what it was and saw a feel good moment with Dreamer winning the ECW title. Santina Marella vs Chavo Guerrero & Vickie Guerrero in a Hog Pen match... I told you there were some downs, and this one brought the show wayyy down. Batista vs Orton was a nothing steel cage match. I know they shortened it because Batista was injured, but that begs the question: why would you give him the belt? Cena vs Show was long, boring and painfully predictable due to the Submission match stipulation. Thankfully, the Ladder match was an incredible way to cap off the show, with Jeff Hardy capturing the World Heavyweight Championship... until CM Punk did his great cash-in and heel turn."

[3.0] "Jericho vs Rey & Edge vs Hardy was fantastic but that does not make up for some of the horrible stuff during this show. Punk vs Umaga was boring, Cena vs Big Show was a snoozefest, Batista vs Orton sucked and The whole Santina storyline in itself was the worst. This show sucked."
