[7.0] "MOTN was ZSJ/GoK followed by Shingo/Kenta. Ishii/Tanga was also good and the comedy match was also enjoyable (credits to Ibushi considering he's well-versed in the comedy department due to his time in DDT-Pro). Probably Yujiro/Bushi was the only liability but to be honest it was expected so it didn't hurt as much. A 7 it is for me, almost an 8 but I'll settle with a 7."

[7.0] "Another strong night of G1 action. Not going to appear on anyone's best-of lists but really solid throughout. [BUSHI vs Yujiro] - 2 ½ stars (Worst of the Night). [Ishii vs Tanga Loa] - 3 stars. [ZSK vs G-O-K] - 3 ¾ stars. [Ibushi vs Yano] - 3 stars. [Shingo vs KENTA] - 4 ¼ stars. Average match rating: 3.3 of 5 stars (or 6.6 of 10). Rounded to 7 for Cagematch."

[8.0] "This was a solid show overall. Not a bad match, with ZSJ vs GO-K being a total sleeper hit that shows the potential for the young O-Khan and gives ZSJ more reasons to be named the MVP of G1 31 (****1/4). Ishii/Loa and Shingo/KENTA are both totally solid affairs, although both could've been better if some minutes were shaved off (***1/4 apiece). I mostly want to gush about Yano vs Ibushi though, since it's too short for the matchguide. THIS is what Yano G1 matches should be like, 4-8 minute sprints where Yano just barrages people with cheating and the audience can't tell if it'll pay off or not. Blinded, tied up Ibushi on the floor is about as good of a count-out tease as you can get, and the counters here are slick and fast (I love the sidestep on the inverted low blow and the way Yano turns Ibushi's finish into a pinning combination). If they got another minute of stuff in there, just another minute and change, that could've been one of the best matches of the tournament, and I'm not kidding; I'm going ***1/2+ on it for now."

[8.0] "Very good show, without a G1 Classic or MOTYC, but everything was good in the tournament matches. Ishii vs Tanga Loa a hard hitting encounter that over-delivered, ZSJ with another technical masterclass in which GOK showed again how underrated and underappreciated he is, Toru Yano having the quick and entertaining G1 match he is supposed to have for the first time this tournament, and Kenta coming close to his strongest showings in a New Japan ring with Shingo Takagi."

[8.0] "Second night of the double header in Korakuen Hall was definitely a bit better than the first. Yujiro v BUSHI was nothing offensive, but was just filler. Ishii v Loa was a good hard hitting match, O-Kahn v ZSJ was the best match of the night and one of the best matches in the G1 so far. Ibushi v Yano was the exact right length, right to the point and had the right winner. KENTA v Takagi was good, KENTA seemed to be fired up and on point, and Takagi was good as usual. Overall I recommend this show, good stuff."

[8.0] "This show won because most of the matches exceeded expectations: the best version of KENTA in NJPW, really good comedy match because of Ibushi's DDT roots, Great-O-Khan shuted up eminent critics who sincerely believed that he is a bad wrestler... not gonna lie, the first two matches disappointed me, but even they weren't that bad, and thanks to the variety of the second half of the card and 2 hours flew, it was easy to watch and very exciting."

[7.0] "- Ishii vs Tanga Loa 6.5/10: Tanga Loa did a good job at adapting to Ishii, who is able to bring out the fire from anyone for a solid opener. - ZSJ vs Great-O-Khan 7.5/10: this was a really well done match that sold perfectly how much ZSJ was in danger due to the fact that 1) O-Khan has a background in many martial arts, and is therefore able to compete with him at "tekkers" and 2) O-Khan is much stronger physically. This made for a great battle and in the end Zack's tekkers are just too much for anyone atm. - Ibushi vs Yano can't be rated: still a very fun angle/match and finally a short one with Yano in which the KOPW finds something funny after too many 10+ minutes matches. - Shingo vs KENTA 7.5/10: great battle between former aces of DG and NOAH respectively, they brought it all out and altho some moments were dull and it was slightly too long it was still a very strong main event. - event 7.5/10 two big matches, a solid opener and a funny Yano match. Let's also not forget as always that Naito's absence hurts this block, personally Naito vs Yujiro was the Yujiro match I was looking forward the most and the same can be said for almost everyone's match except perhaps Ibushi vs Takagi."

[9.0] "This mornings show was a great show to watch live, the 2 hours flew by and every tournament match was something different. Had your hoss fight, your technical masterclass, a comedy match and then an epic for a main event. A Block continues to be super compelling and I cannot wait until Sundays show for Shingo Vs Ibushi and Ishii Vs ZSJ."

O-Khan vs ZSJ is a fun match if you enjoy grappling but probably won't be for everyone. I thought it was pretty good and the highlight of this day."
