I reviewed each match individually so if you want my specific thoughts, they will be there. Opener: ** Jr Tag: ***1/4 Shingo vs Cobb ***** SANADA vs EVIL ***3/4 Taiji vs Hiromu ****1/2 Ibushi vs Jay ***** 1/2"

[8.0] "Seems like an unpopular opinion but i thought Night 1 was superior. This was still a strong show though. KOPW Title Match (*1/4) - Dull and boring match that could've been way funnier. Suzuki-gun/Wato & Taguchi (**1/4) - Mediocre tag match. Shingo/Cobb (*****) - These two finally had the classic i knew they could have. This was Cobb's best match yet and another feather in the cap of Shingo. SANADA/EVIL (***) - Somehow more disappointing than their G1 match. Full of overbooking and another dull-as-dishwater performance from EVIL. SANADA did good though and they had a nice closing sequence. Hiromu/Ishimori (****) - Very good Junior match. They got great chemistry and they showed it. Should've been like 5 minutes shorter. Ibushi/White (*****) - Incredible match. White gave a heel masterclass just destroying Ibushi and bringing him to his absolute limit. World class storytelling and in-ring from both."

[8.0] "While night 1 was a solid watch throughout, night 2 featured several peaks of the Wrestle Kingdom weekend in its main event, with Ibushi getting the win over White in perhaps an even better bout than his win over Naito the previous night, as well as an excellent Takagi vs. Cobb bout for the NEVER Title and a very good Jr. Heavyweight Title bout in Takahashi vs. Ishimori. The rest of the show wasn't as consistent as the first show, though; the King of Pro-Wrestling four-way came as something of a throwaway TV-show match, and SANADA vs. EVIL and Desperado/Kanemaru vs. Wato/Taguchi, while reasonably fine matches, paled in comparison to night 1's undercard (the former also seeming somewhat flat considering its backstory). Collectively a good Wrestle Kingdom."

[9.0] "Great show. Most fans and critics ppreferred Night 2 but personally I thought Night 1 was just a little bit better and that's just my opinion. The crowd was just a bit more into it on the first night. But This was still a great show that didn't really have any bad match except for the gimmick opening match. The NEVER Openweight Title match and main event were exceptional. Ibushi Vs Jay White was an incredible main event that surprisingly was much better than I expected. Ibushi got the win in the longest match inside the Dome and cemented himself as the top guy in New Japan."

[7.0] "Another good night of wrestling that left me excited to check out more New-Japan stuff. There were noticeably lower points on this card than the night prior, with the first two matches being not good. SANADA vs EVIL and Takahsahi vs Ishimori are very much a matter of personal preference and neither was a bad match, but this was really a two match card. Takagi vs Cobb was a great hard hitting contest and White vs Ibushi was an instant classic. Overall, less consistent than the previous night but with higher high points."

[8.0] "This was comparatively a better night of wrestling than NIGHT 1 . It had two MOTY contenders in Shingo/Cobb and White/Ibushi . The dark matches were good also the jnr. heavyweight tile bout and the jnr. heavyweight tag titles bout . The low points were a average match between Sanada/Evil ( not WK worthy content imo) and the KOPW fatal 4 way which was atrocious and illogical. Other than that , this was a very good card and I'm happy to see that Ibushi retained and finally will have a long and good run as heavyweight champion . This WK is the weakest one in 10 years but it was still very good wrestling content."

[9.0] "A fantastic show and definitely the bench mark set for 2021's wrestling. This is even better than the night before, because while it started off... incredibly rocky with the KOPW four-way and the always stellar work of Master Wato, boy did it take off. Shingo and Cobb was a brutal strong-style war that played to both men's strengths, SANADA and EVIL was interesting if a little bit of a let down, the Juniors tore it up with an athletic explosion, and then we got a truly legendary epic in the main event that may prove divisive, but is a must-watch for anyone who loves modern Puro, or wants to see one of the all-time great heels in Jay White. I wasn't always a believer, but by god am I now. Plus, watching Ibushi celebrate? Always worth it. Always."
GoatKada wrote on 08.01.2021:
[6.0] "A solid show, but by Wrestle Kingdom standards this was very poor. Cobb Vs Takagi was the best I have ever seen Cobb look and was the only match on the show I would consider must watch. Hiromu vs Taiji started well, but dragged on for me and was the weaker of the two junior matches, whereas the main event had its moments, but didn't need to be anywhere near the length it was. The rest of the show was completely skippable and the KOPW title continues to be a complete waste of time."

[8.0] "Much better than the first night of New Japan's 2021's Tokyo Dome event. Some of the matches actually lived up to the hype. Shingo/Cobb was what I wanted it to be. Cobb increasing his stock in a big way. Ishimori/Takahashi was probable overly ambitious, but they nailed most of it. Ibushi/White was too long, but you can take a lot of good bits out of it. Things are not perfect within NJPW at the moment, but they still delivers and this was Tokyo Dome worthy. Toru Yano -vs- Bad Luck Fale -vs- BUSHI -vs- Chase Owens - (KOPW 2021) [*], El Desperado & Yoshinobu Kanemaru (c) -vs- Ryusuke Taguchi & Master Wato - (IWGP Junior Tag Title) [** 1/2], Shingo Takagi (c) -vs- Jeff Cobb - (NEVER Openweight Title) [*** 3/4], SANADA -vs- EVIL [***], Taiji Ishimori (c) -vs- Hiromu Takahashi - (IWGP Junior Title) [*** 1/2], Kota Ibushi (c) -vs- Jay White - (IWGP Heavyweight Title & IWGP Intercontinental Title) [*** 1/4]"

[Suzuki-Gun vs Wato/Taguchi] - 2 ¾ stars. [Shingo/Cobb] - 5 stars (Match of the Night, Match of the weekend, MOTYC). [SANADA vs EVIL] - 3 ½ stars. [Hiromu vs Ishimori] - 3 ¾ stars. [Jay White vs Ibushi] - 4 stars. Average Match rating: 3. 25 of 5 stars (or 6. 5 of 10). Rounded to 7 for Cagematch."

EVIL vs SANADA: * (worst match of the two nights aside from the rumble). Hiromu vs Ishimori: **1/2+. White vs Ibushi: **. How does New Japan fumble both nights of their biggest show of the year with one of the greatest, deepest rosters ever. Not excited for 2021 New Japan"

[8.0] "KOPW, Jr Tag title match and SANADA vs EVIL were really bad. The first match goes without saying, no one was expecting anything and we got even less. The Jr Tag titles had a team that cannot work, Mr Wato is a meme at this point and only hurts every match he is in, shame for Desperado and Kanemaru that didn't get to showcase their talent. SANADA vs EVIL was supposedly a grudge match and they started doing comedy spots, they know how to work a basic, good New Japan match and that is what they did. Thank god for Shingo and Cobb, these guys stole the show, a stiff match with crazy suplexes that defied gravity. Both guys gave it their all, raising the level of the NEVER title. Ishimori vs Hiromu was a surprise in the sense that most people expected a high flying flippy spotfest, rather than a hard hitting brawl. Only comment I have is that it was a bit too long but otherwise a very solid match. The main event will polarize viewers, tokyo dome main events are always very self-referential and are better understood when the whole context is known. I love both wrestlers and in my opinion they gave a main event for the ages. Not the best ever, I see some people giving it more than 5 stars, in my opinion it wasn't perfect but it was close. It was ambiguous as to who will get the fall. Overall, the first night was better, but the highs of Night 2 were higher."

[9.0] "I came in with lower expectations to this day than I did yesterday but it is safe to say that it surpassed them. After the weak opener, the show picked up, and a banger between Cobb and Shingo that was a big momentum boost for the event, momentum that was lost with the horrible EVIL vs SANADA match. As for the main event, that was a near 50-minute masterpiece with a feel-good ending. Great show."

[9.0] "This was a great show. Three of the matches were legitimately ****+. The main event was, in my opinion, a classic. I like Jay White, but I don't love his matches, although they've grown on me since his return during the G1. He reached a new level tonight. That match was very long, but it was also a masterclass in storytelling. The end result was right and I thought it was a ***** match. Hiromu vs Ishimori was great as always, but it was very, very stiff. That was unexpected. I'd give it a ****1/4. Same with the NEVER title match, which was also great. The other three matches weren't great, but I liked them. Sanada vs Evil was better than usual, albeit longer than it needed to be. It was in the ***1/2 range, and should be the last time they face each other in a long time. The junior tag title match was okay, but not WK worthy. Wato may be really good one day, but he wasn't ready for this spotlight at all. *** match. The KOPW was harmless, short, comedic and fun. It's not for everyone but I enjoyed it. While this was a long show, it was also a great show. I'm giving it a 9/10."

The show was very easy to watch and the wrestling was solid to phenomenal. Jay Vs Kota was 48 minutes of masterful storytelling and I cannot wait until Kota Vs SANADA at (presumably) New Beginning In Hiroshima."
