| 5 | 27.02.2025 | thedaynos | 7.0 | Good/decent go-home show for the rumble. RVD/Regal is more of the same with regal but just bumped up a notch because he keeps getting away with it. Billy and Chuck is hilarious to me but it seems like the crowd hates this shit. After Chuck gets hit with the green mist and billy goes over to wipe his face off and console him, that shit is gold. Love it. I'll say this, the WWF did a pretty good job at giving the WCW guys some interesting characters. You have the superhero hurricane, the pitiful Booker T, DDP the motivational speaker, Chuck a metrosexual, Lance Storm was just a janitor a couple weeks ago lol, building off of his "can i be serious for a minute" schtick... I know I'm forgetting some too. As a WCW hater back in the day, I appreciate this shit a lot more now. Rock and jericho FINALLY had a great promo together to lead up to the rumble, this was EASILY jericho's best promo since winning the title. It's about time really, as I was wondering why the title match has been all about the rock and really nothing to do with Y2J. I think they did a great job bringing the heat. The Rikishi vs Christian/Lance Storm handicap match ended up turning into a mini royal rumble, which was fun. Big Show shows off by carrying Rikishi for about a minute, and all sorts of chaos ensues with APA and Kane as well. Honestly surprised more guys didn't hop in on this. Test vs Edge in a match that just hypes up edge vs regal since regal interferes, also it's a vehicle to show off Test's new intro song, which isn't nearly as good as his previous song. I also noticed RVD has a new intro song. I have to say what a stupid thing to do, change people's intro music only one episode before the rumble? What's the point of that? You want LESS of a pop when these guys come out? Between this and announcing the four "surprise" entrants over a week in advance, it's like they're trying to sabotage the rumble for some reason. I'll just add here how fucking terrible of a wrestler Test is. It's just so annoying. Demote his ass back to Heat and bring up some other future superstars PLEAAASSSEEE. Main event had HHH actually wrestling instead of just whining about how he's the game and that damn good. Along with Angle, Stone Cold, and Booker T, it looks like at least 2 of these 4 will be among the final 4 in the rumble. I guess that makes sense as Jericho/Rock/Edge will all be involved in other matches on sunday. I'd expect RVD to be in the mix for final 4, as well as probably Kane and Undertaker. Well, especially Kane the way they've been pushing him the past couple of weeks. This main event was pretty good for a go-home show main event. Mostly entertaining due to HHH's involvement, or non involvement really as he was practically begging to get tagged in for the first 5 mins of this match. It ends without any interference and without the wives coming down, which was surprising as it was half jokingly billed as a non-wives by the ringside match. Austin gets Booker with the stunner, and HHH follows that up with a pretty fucking intense pedigree on him to end the match. Crowd was way into it and no lie I was too. Great last match for the hype for the rumble, and overall good episode. Also it was a tad strange not to have any vince or flair on this episode, but that doesn't make it bad. just saying. |
