[2.0] "Eric Bischoff once called this the worst wrestling PPV he's ever seen, and while I wouldn't go that far - I've certainly seen worse, and I don't even think it was WCW's worst show in 1999 (that'd probably go to that year's Bash at the Beach) - that certainly doesn't mean this was any good. The Benoit vs Jarrett ladder match is the only one really worth seeking out (of course, that can be a bit of a hard sell itself to some viewers today due to Benoit's presence, but I won't hold that against the show in the context of its time). Bret vs Goldberg in the main was also mostly OK, but is mainly infamous for being the match with Goldberg's errant kick that likely contributed to the end of Bret's career, and also featured a very lame Montreal Screwjob reenactment as its finish. Jarrett vs Dustin was also OK, and Jarrett certainly showed his worth by being in two of the three decent matches on the show. I guess DDP vs David Flair, while very short, was decent enough to be automatically among the better David matches. Otherwise, there's just a lot of lame stuff including such "hits" as Disco Inferno's mafia dealings, Madusa and Evan Karagias feuding over the Cruiserweight Title, lots of Oklahoma, the return of the Varsity Club for some reason, the breakup of Harlem Heat, Sting and Luger wrestling a dull five-minute match to a double DQ, and Nash and Sid feuding over the powerbomb in a match that concludes with Nash just telling the ref that he powerbombed Sid, even though he didn't, and the ref buying it (that actually might have been a lamer finish than the main event's). Even Norman Smiley and Meng - two guys I liked a lot - couldn't do much to save their segment from being a very average backstage brawl. Again, not the worst of 1999 WCW, but pretty close to it."

I was really thinking of going for a lousy 2 stars, but the ladder match and Bret Hart in the main event just put it a smidgen into the 3 star range. Still sucks donkey balls, don't bother!"

[3.0] "Another PPV with too many matches and too many of Russo's friends on it. Only really has one match worth watching, and most probably already know what that is. [1st match] Pretty decent Tag match, not really sure of Lash's relation to Disco though? post match stuff past the curtain really should have been left out, or should have bought stronger ether. **1/2 [2nd match] Weird mechanic match: one moment Evan throws Madusa into the steps, but then doesn't want to strike her. Madusa also no-sells some of Evan's spots and drops him with a nasty-looking powerbomb. Can't believe she was made to catch Evan on his dive though, props to her there at least. Was ok with her winning the belt, although maybe not at this point in her career though? I didn't get the finish/turn at all. -* [3rd match] little different to any other WCW Hardcore match. 1/2* [4th match] Bad stuff from Duggan early on and refuses to tag out. Then his partners all turn on him, but then beat up The Revolution? ! ... truly one of the most bizarre things I've ever seen. Oh! and the winning pinfall was by a guy sat at commentary for the whole match. DUD [5th match] Other than the cool dive over the cage containing Oklahoma at the start of the match, this was very ordinary and a waste of talent involved. * [6th match] Oklahoma can at least work, even though he adds comedy to it, kinda makes Doc look a bad friend to put his pal into this situation in the first place though. Why is Dr. Death feuding with a bunch of music artists in the first place though? ! this is truly one of worst storylines ever. 1/2* [7th match] Basically a handicap match with the inevitable "will Stevie Ray help out or not? " Midnight is talked up big here, yet shows nothing to warrant it. Pinfall completely missed also. *1/2 [8th match] Definitely wasn't a standard Bunkhouse match, if that's even what it is. Bad camerawork returns and almost made me seasick. ** [9th match] David already brought and used a Crowbar so what's even the point of climbing up to get one! although I'm actually surprised at how good this was, David has gotten much better in-ring. *** [10th match] More story than anything, which sucked because both guys were pretty lively and giving it to eachother. DUD [11th match] Slow match with a swerve finish that actually worked for me. DUD [12th match] This match saved the whole show *****stars is deserving of this imo. [Main] It's no-DQ so why so many ref bumps! Bret mostly lead Goldberg until "That kick" landed on Bret. Finish is basically another Montreal Screwjob leading to utter confusion as the show ended. ** Pretty rough viewing on many fronts, couldn't manage this in one-sitting. Apart from the excellent Ladder match, there's little different here from the last PPV, it's all classic Russo."

[1.0] "Apart from one match, Benoit vs. Jarrett, this was a trademark Vince Russo PPV; overbooking, nonsensical angles, bad finishes, etc. And topping it all off this month was a rehash of the Montreal Screwjob."

[1.0] "Russo presents another craptastic show! Only a tiny bit better than Mayhem, though the buyrates were already plunging to record lows regardless. The opening match is not very good, and the storyline surrounding it is seriously putrid. Madusa/Evan is, well, they actually try to make it good but the story is so bad they can't do much. Another bad one. Meng/Smiley is actually almost good just because Smiley is funny and Meng is such a badass. The whole Varsity Club debacle is one of the worst things I have seen. Williams/Vampiro is another match featuring the ear stabbingly bad commentary of Oklahoma, perhaps the least funny joke ever featured on wrestling television, and the follow match is obviously no better. The six man tag is barely noticeable, all we are meant to see is that Stevie Ray doesn't like Midnight, and the match is barely remarked upon. Dustin/Jarrett isn't very good, Dustin was out of shape and Jarrett is Jarrett. DDP/David is not good, obviously. Lex/Sting might have been fun but a lot of stupid stuff happened. Sid/Nash is one of the worst matches of all time. Benoit/Jarrett is the only genuinely good match on the card, Benoit puts on an awesome performance. The main event might have been alright but of course Bret's career ending injury looms over it, plus the ending is downright idiotic. All in all, a really bad show."
